How to Claim Free Games on the Epic Games Store and Add Them to Your Library

Sign in to the Epic Games account where you want the game, make sure two-factor authentication is enabled, then claim the current giveaway from Epic’s official Free Games page before its displayed deadline. Once the claim succeeds, the game stays in your library; you do not need to download it during the offer period.

Claim the current giveaway

1. Open Epic’s Free Games page. Look for the limited-time giveaway listing rather than treating every item marked free as a giveaway; Epic also lists free-to-play games and demos separately.

How long the weekly offer lasts

Epic Games Player Support says, “A new free game is available every Thursday at 8 AM PT,” and that each weekly offer is available for seven days before rotation. The specific game and deadline change, so use the live listing as the authority for the offer you are claiming.

If you miss an offer, Epic does not say you can claim that expired promotion for free later. Its guidance is to watch for future promotions.

Check platform and regional availability

Epic’s Store FAQ says the Store is available worldwide on PC, Mac, and Android, and on iPhone and iPad in the European Union. The Free Games page describes mobile giveaways as available globally on Android and in supported iPhone and iPad regions. Because mobile availability varies by region, check Epic’s current listing rather than assuming an iPhone or iPad claim is available everywhere. For a specific game’s compatibility, consult the product page’s Specifications section.

If a claim fails

Epic recommends trying these steps if a free offer will not redeem:

• Turn off any VPN.

• Try from a mobile device with Wi-Fi disconnected.

• Redeem in a browser instead of the Epic Games Launcher.

  • An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
  • If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
  • The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
  • Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. If the game is missing from your library

First confirm that you are signed into the same Epic account used to claim it. Epic notes that signing in directly with a Gmail address and choosing the Google login button can lead to separate Epic accounts, even when the email addresses appear related. An Epic account linked to a console may also be different from another Epic account you use. Switch accounts and check the library again.
