Redeem the Amazon gift card into your account
Amazon staff’s Amazon.com support response, published on January 27, 2021, describes the following process. Amazon may rename or move controls, so look for the same functions if your screen uses slightly different wording.

- Select the gift-card redemption option, such as the page for redeeming or applying a gift card.
- Enter the claim code from the physical card or electronic delivery.
- Submit the code and wait for Amazon to confirm that the value has been added to the account balance.
Applying the code stores the value in that account. Do not enter it while signed in to a family member’s or work account unless that is intentionally where you want the balance held. Recheck the account name before submitting; moving a balance between accounts is not described in the cited Amazon instructions.
Using a physical card
Scratch or reveal the claim-code area only when you are ready to redeem it. Type the code exactly as printed. If a character is ambiguous, compare it with neighboring characters and use Amazon’s error message as a clue rather than repeatedly guessing.
Using an electronic card
Open the delivery message, copy the claim code and paste it into the redemption field. Avoid copying extra spaces or punctuation from the message. Keep the original delivery message until Amazon confirms the balance, because it is useful if support needs to verify the card.

Redeem during checkout instead
Amazon staff also says a claim code can be entered during checkout. This is useful if you are already shopping, but it makes account and marketplace verification more important because the code is applied in the context of that order.
- Add the Samsung tablet to your cart and proceed to the Amazon checkout page.
- At the payment section, choose the control for adding or entering a gift-card claim code.
- Enter the code and apply it.
- Before placing the order, confirm that the payment summary shows the gift-card amount.
Amazon.co.uk’s corporate guide separately describes entering a physical card’s code at checkout. Those labels and steps are specific to Amazon.co.uk and should not be treated as a universal interface description for Amazon.com or another country store.
Choose a Samsung tablet and check eligibility

Decide when and where to redeem
Redeeming before shopping is usually the clearest workflow because you can verify the balance on the account before selecting a tablet. Entering the code at checkout is also supported by Amazon staff, but you should pause at the payment step long enough to confirm that the code was accepted and that the expected amount appears. In either workflow, the important decision is the account: once the code is applied, the value is associated with the account that was signed in.
If more than one person uses the household’s Amazon access, check the account identifier and country store at the top of the page before entering the code. A correct code can appear to fail when it is being entered on the wrong marketplace or when you are looking at a different account from the one that received it. Keep the card or delivery message available until the balance is confirmed, rather than discarding it immediately after submission.
Confirm that the balance is applied before ordering
Amazon staff says a redeemed balance is automatically applied to eligible orders. The payment section may offer a checkbox or other control to deselect the balance. Use that control only if you deliberately want another payment method charged instead.
- Review the item, seller, quantity, shipping address and delivery choice.
- Expand the payment summary if necessary.
- Look for a line showing the gift-card balance or gift-card amount applied.
- Compare the applied amount with the order total, including shipping and any taxes displayed for your address.
- Only place the order after the summary reflects the payment split you expect.
If the gift-card line is missing, stop before submitting the order. Return to the payment section, verify that you are signed in to the account where the code was redeemed, and check whether the listing or checkout method is eligible.

If you intentionally do not want to use the balance
Because Amazon says the balance is automatically applied to eligible orders, look for the payment control that allows it to be deselected. This can be useful when you want to preserve the balance for another eligible order, but do not assume that deselecting it makes an ineligible listing eligible. It only changes whether the stored balance is used for that checkout.
Understanding the amounts shown at checkout
The amount applied to the tablet is not necessarily the same as the product’s headline price. Review the complete order total shown for your address, including any shipping and taxes displayed by the store. If you change the seller, quantity, delivery choice or tablet offer, return to the payment summary because the total and payment split can change.
When the balance is larger than the eligible order total, confirm how the summary treats the unused value rather than assuming a cash refund or a transfer. The cited guidance establishes application to eligible orders, not a separate cash-out process. When the balance is smaller, the UK guide specifically shows a remaining charge to the default payment method; other marketplaces should be checked in their own checkout.

Take a final look immediately before selecting the order button. A summary that showed the gift card earlier can change after an offer or address change, so the last payment screen is the one that matters.
When the gift card does not cover the full tablet price
Amazon.co.uk’s guide says that, for that marketplace, the remaining amount is charged to the default payment method when the gift-card balance is smaller than the order total. The Amazon.com support response confirms application to eligible orders but does not state the remainder-payment rule in the cited material. Therefore, treat the payment summary for your own country store as controlling and keep a valid default payment method available.

Amazon marketplace and country restrictions

Signs that you may be in the wrong marketplace
- The code is rejected even though it was copied correctly.
- The account shows a different currency or country store than the card’s issuer.

In any of these cases, stop before ordering and check the card’s issuing marketplace and the country setting of the Amazon account. Do not repeatedly submit a code while switching between country stores.
Amazon checkout versus Buy with Prime
Buy with Prime is a separate checkout flow from purchasing through Amazon.com. Amazon’s Buy with Prime documentation explicitly says Amazon.com gift cards cannot be used as payment in Buy with Prime checkout.
That exclusion does not describe a normal Amazon.com product-page checkout. If you want to use the gift card for a Samsung tablet, remain in the Amazon marketplace checkout where the account balance and gift-card payment line are shown. If a button sends you to a merchant’s Buy with Prime checkout, expect the Amazon.com gift-card balance not to be accepted there.

Troubleshoot a rejected or missing gift-card balance
The code is rejected immediately
- Check every character against the original card or delivery message.
- Remove accidental spaces or punctuation introduced while copying.
- Confirm that you are signed in to the intended account.
- Confirm that the card and account use the same Amazon marketplace.
- If the code still fails, retain the card or delivery message and contact Amazon customer support rather than guessing additional codes.
The code was accepted but the balance is not visible
