To download a game you already own on PS5, go to Games home > Game Library > Your Collection, select the game, then choose Download. The route differs for PlayStation Plus monthly games and catalog titles, which have membership and availability conditions.
Download a game you already own
- From the PS5 Games home screen, open Game Library.
- Choose Your Collection.
- Select the game, then choose Download. The game installs automatically; depending on the title, you may be able to play part of it while the remaining data downloads. PlayStation’s download instructions and the PS5 Quick Start Guide describe the process.
To find downloadable add-ons, open the game’s Add-Ons section.

Buy and download a new game
Connect the PS5 to the internet and sign in to the PlayStation account you intend to use for the purchase. Sony’s PS5 Quick Start Guide says both are needed to purchase and download games. After purchasing in PlayStation Store, download the game from the Store or find it under Game Library > Your Collection.

Claim a PlayStation Plus game or download a catalog title
PlayStation Plus offers different kinds of game access. A monthly game you claim is not the same entitlement as a game included in a rotating catalog.

Catalog access does not mean you purchased the game: whether you can keep playing depends on the title remaining available and your membership. Monthly games and catalog offerings may vary over time.
Start a download from the PlayStation App
- Pair or link your PS5 to the PlayStation App.
- In the app, open Game Library > Purchased.
- Select the game and choose Download to Console.
For remote downloads, the console must have Stay Connected to the Internet enabled and be in rest mode. Sony lists the requirements and app features in its PlayStation App support guide.

Troubleshoot a game that is missing
Check the account and library
Confirm you are signed in to the PlayStation account used to buy or claim the game, then look in Game Library > Your Collection. A game associated with a different account will not appear as yours on the currently signed-in account.

Confirm the transaction or entitlement
- Check the account’s Transaction History to verify that the purchase or claim completed.
- On PS5, go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Account > Payment and Subscriptions > Game and App Services to view content applied to the account.
- If the transaction is recorded but the entitlement is still missing, contact PlayStation Support.
