Sign in to the PlayStation account with your active PlayStation Plus membership, open the Monthly Games section on your console, select a game, and download it. On PS5, choose Download; on PS4, choose Add to Library first, then Download.
Claim a monthly game on PS5
- From the Games home screen, scroll right and select PlayStation Plus.
- Open Benefits, then select Monthly Games.
- Highlight the game you want and select Download.

Claim a monthly game on PS4
- From the function screen, scroll right and select PlayStation Plus.
- Scroll down and select Monthly Games.
- Highlight the game, select Add to Library, then select Download.

Sony says you can start a monthly-game download through a web browser or the PlayStation App. For app downloads, link the console to the app. Sony’s general remote-download guidance says the PS5 must be signed in with the relevant account, or the PS4 must be activated as the primary PS4. Automatic downloads must be configured if you want the download to start immediately; otherwise, it starts the next time the console is turned on. Sony’s download instructions

For the app’s general download flow, Sony lists Game Library > Purchased > select the game > Download to Console. That is a general download path, not the specific monthly-game claim step. Once downloaded, games can also be found in the console’s Game Library.
Membership and access
Monthly Games are a benefit of PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium. Add the game while signed in to the account that holds the membership: Sony says PlayStation Plus is tied to that account. Claimed monthly games can be downloaded and played while that account has an active membership. Sony’s PlayStation Plus support page and its U.S. games and plans FAQ describe these benefits.

Monthly Games are different from the Game Catalog and Classics Catalog. Sony lists Game Catalog access with Extra and both Game Catalog and Classics Catalog access with Premium; those catalogs are separate membership benefits, not the monthly-game claim flow. Plan details and availability can vary by region and change over time.

If the game is missing or will not download
- Check that you are signed in to the PlayStation account with the active membership.
- Confirm that the title is listed among the Monthly Games available to you, then follow the steps for your console.
- If the download does not begin remotely, check the console link or account/primary-console requirement and automatic-download setting described above.
- For download problems, use Sony’s download support. Sony also points users to download troubleshooting resources and transaction history for purchased content.
