Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThe right wireless earbuds depend on where you take calls, how you listen to music, how often you can recharge, and which phone you use. Start with those four constraints, then compare microphone processing, fit, noise-control modes, and battery figures under matching conditions. No specification sheet can prove which earbuds sound best or fit every ear, so treat advertised features as a shortlist and use independent listening and call tests—ideally with a return-friendly trial—for the final decision.
Start with your real use pattern
Calls, music and battery life pull an earbud design in different directions. A model that lasts a long time with noise control disabled may run for fewer hours with active noise cancellation (ANC). A set with strong isolation can make music enjoyable in a noisy commute but less convenient when you need to hear announcements. Call runtime is often lower than listening runtime, and manufacturers test under different conditions.

Write down your answers before comparing models:
- Where are your calls? Quiet rooms, streets, public transport, offices and windy outdoor spaces place different demands on microphones and voice processing.
- How long are your listening sessions? Short commutes make a small case convenient; long flights and workdays make per-charge runtime more important.
- What sound do you prefer? Bass impact, clear vocals, treble detail and an open presentation are subjective choices, not outcomes that can be inferred from a codec label or microphone count.
- Which phone and operating system do you use? Some audio, call and control features require a particular phone brand or software version.
- Do you need ANC, transparency, or both? Paying for a mode you rarely use adds cost and may reduce battery life without helping your routine.
How to judge call quality
Look for documented processing, not just microphone count
More microphones can provide more input for processing, but the count alone does not establish that the person on the other end will hear you clearly. Give greater weight to a maker’s description of beamforming, voice isolation, wind-noise handling or other call processing, and then look for independent tests recorded in the environments where you actually call.

- Water and dust resistant: From the beach to the bike trail, the IP54-certified earbuds and IPX2 charging case are water and dust resistant for all-day experiences
Match the feature to the places you call
- Quiet rooms: Basic microphone hardware may be sufficient, but comfort and reliable controls matter during long meetings.
- Busy streets or stations: Beamforming and voice-processing features are more relevant than a high microphone count by itself.
- Windy locations: Seek independent tests that specifically include wind; a manufacturer feature list does not prove performance in your conditions.
- Video meetings: Check how the earbuds behave with your meeting app and computer. Bluetooth profiles and operating-system permissions can affect available controls.
Call-focused specifications in the current examples
| Model | Documented call-related hardware or processing | Compatibility qualification | Published call runtime |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple AirPods Pro 3 | Dual beamforming microphones; Voice Isolation; ANC and Adaptive Audio | Voice Isolation requires supported AirPods and Apple devices; AirPods can work as Bluetooth headphones with non-Apple devices, but functionality may be limited. | Not stated in the cited specifications as a separate call figure. |
| Apple AirPods 4 with ANC | Dual beamforming microphones; Voice Isolation; ANC | Check the supported Apple hardware and software for Voice Isolation and other device-dependent functions. | Not stated in the cited specifications as a separate call figure. |
| Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro | Three digital microphones; Samsung describes Super Clear Call and other call-processing features. | Some audio and call features are limited to listed Galaxy phones and software versions; verify your exact device. | Up to 3.5 hours with ANC enabled in Samsung’s stated test. |
The Samsung figure is a manufacturer estimate from a 2026 announcement. Samsung says it paired pre-production earbuds with a recently released Galaxy phone, used default settings including ANC, and measured voice calls. It is not directly comparable with music-listening figures for the Apple models.
Choose sound by preference and fit
Fit is part of the audio system
Ear-tip seal affects bass, outside-noise reduction and how securely the earbuds stay in place. An imperfect seal can make a technically capable earbud sound thin or force you to raise the volume. Ear shape, glasses, movement and sensitivity to pressure vary too much for a specification page to identify the most comfortable model.
When possible, try multiple tip sizes and wear the earbuds for at least 30 minutes while walking and sitting. Check the seller’s return and hygiene policy before opening the package. If you dislike a sealed in-ear feeling, an open or lighter fit may be preferable even if it provides less passive isolation.

Use listening goals rather than marketing terms
- Bass and electronic music: A secure seal usually matters more than a headline feature name.
- Podcasts and vocals: Prioritize clear midrange reproduction and a fit that does not require frequent adjustment.
- Classical or acoustic detail: Compare credible listening tests using familiar tracks; do not infer tonal balance from Bluetooth version or codec support alone.
- Spatial or head-tracked audio: Confirm that your phone, app and subscription support the mode. Apple lists up to 7.5 hours per charge for AirPods Pro 3 with Spatial Audio and head tracking enabled, compared with its ANC listening estimate.
The cited manufacturer pages describe hardware and sound features, not an independent ranking of tonal quality. Treat codec and processing support as compatibility information, then judge the sound with your own music and a return option.

Separate earbud runtime from case runtime
“Up to” figures usually describe one charge of the earbuds and the additional listening supplied by the charging case. They are different planning numbers: per-charge runtime tells you whether the earbuds last through a shift or flight, while the case total tells you how often you need a wall outlet. Advertised results vary with volume, temperature, wireless features and test methods.
| Model and source | Per-charge estimate | Case-inclusive estimate | Conditions and limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple AirPods Pro 3 — Apple technical specifications | Up to 8 hours of listening with ANC enabled | Up to 24 hours with the case | Apple estimate. Apple also lists up to 7.5 hours with Spatial Audio and head tracking, and up to 6.5 hours with heart-rate sensing during workouts. |
| Apple AirPods 4 with ANC — Apple technical specifications | Up to 4 hours of listening with ANC; up to 5 hours with noise control off | Up to 20 hours with ANC; up to 30 hours with noise control off | Apple estimate. ANC and non-ANC figures are different modes and should not be combined into one direct comparison. |
| Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro — Samsung announcement | Up to 3.5 hours of voice calls with ANC enabled | Up to 18 hours from the case for that call test | Samsung’s test used pre-production earbuds, a recently released Galaxy phone and default settings. This is call time, not music-listening time. |
Plan for your own charging routine
- If you regularly spend more than four hours away from a charger, prioritize the per-charge figure in the mode you actually use.
- If you can recharge the case during the day, a shorter earbud runtime may be acceptable.
- ANC, transparency, spatial processing and workout sensors can change endurance; compare only figures measured with similar features enabled.
- Do not treat “up to” as a guaranteed minimum. Volume, temperature, call duration and software behavior affect actual use.
Check phone and software compatibility before buying
Apple devices and non-Apple phones
AirPods can function as Bluetooth headphones with non-Apple devices, but Apple says functionality may be limited. Basic audio may work while device-specific controls, Voice Isolation, automatic switching or other integrations are unavailable. If those features are the reason you want a model, confirm support for your exact phone and operating-system version rather than assuming that standard Bluetooth provides the full experience.
Galaxy-specific features
Samsung’s Galaxy Buds4 Pro information identifies Galaxy phones and software requirements for some audio and call functions, including features such as super-wideband calling and high-resolution audio. The requirements can vary by region and software release, so check Samsung’s current compatibility information for your phone before purchase. The India product page is available at Samsung’s Galaxy Buds4 Pro listing; availability and configurations may differ elsewhere.
A practical compatibility check
- Record your exact phone model, operating-system version and the calling apps you use.
- Open the manufacturer’s support or product page and locate the compatibility list for the features you require.
- Confirm whether setup requires a companion app and whether that app is available on your platform.
- Check computer support separately if you take work calls on a laptop; phone compatibility does not guarantee identical controls on another operating system.
- After purchase, test calls, switching, ANC and transparency during the seller’s return period.
Decide whether ANC and transparency justify the trade-off
Active noise cancellation
ANC is useful on aircraft, trains and busy offices because it reduces some external sound before it reaches your ears. It is not a guarantee of silence, and its processing can change battery life. Compare runtime with ANC enabled if that is how you will listen most often.

- AI-Enhanced Clear Calls: 2 built-in mics and an AI algorithm work together to pick up your voice so that you never have to shout over the phone.
Transparency or ambient sound
Transparency lets outside sound pass through microphones so you can hear announcements or talk without removing the earbuds. Check whether the mode is available on your phone and whether its controls are easy to operate. For safety, remain attentive to traffic and other hazards; transparency is not a substitute for situational awareness.
Adaptive modes
Adaptive Audio or similar systems automatically vary noise control. They can reduce manual switching, but behavior and compatibility are model-specific. If predictable battery life is more important than automation, a fixed ANC or transparency setting may be easier to plan around.

Apple AirPods Pro 3
Apple lists dual beamforming microphones, Voice Isolation, ANC, Adaptive Audio and Bluetooth 5.3. Its current specifications estimate up to eight hours of listening per charge with ANC and up to 24 hours including the case. Apple also lists a lower estimate when Spatial Audio with head tracking or heart-rate sensing during workouts is active. This model makes the most sense when you use compatible Apple devices and value those integrations; verify non-Apple limitations before choosing it for an Android-first setup.

Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro
Samsung’s 2026 announcement lists three digital microphones and describes Super Clear Call and related audio features. It estimates up to 3.5 hours of ANC-enabled voice calls plus 18 hours from the case in its stated test. Samsung limits some functions to specified Galaxy phones and software, so Galaxy owners should verify that their device supports the features they want. The call-runtime test cannot be used as a direct ranking against Apple music-runtime estimates.

- Set a call requirement. Write down the noisiest place where you expect to speak and whether you need voice isolation, multipoint behavior or computer support.
- Set a music requirement. Identify two or three familiar tracks and the qualities you care about. Plan to use independent listening tests or a return period rather than relying on specification language.
- Choose the battery mode. Use the ANC, transparency or off-mode figure that matches your routine, and keep call and listening estimates separate.
- Verify the ecosystem. Check your exact phone, operating system, calling apps and any required companion app against the manufacturer’s compatibility information.
- Prioritize fit and controls. Try tip sizes or fit styles, test one-handed controls and make sure accidental touches will not disrupt calls.
- Confirm practical ownership details. Check case size, charging connector or pad support, water-resistance rating, warranty and the seller’s return policy for your region.
- Test immediately. Make calls in a quiet room and a noisy location, listen with your normal ANC setting, check transparency, and measure how quickly the case recharges during the return window.
Common mistakes and how to correct them
Choosing by microphone count
Problem: A higher count is treated as proof of clearer calls. Correction: Look for documented processing and independent tests in your environments.
Comparing unlike battery numbers
Problem: ANC music time is compared with ANC-off case time or with call time. Correction: Put activity, ANC state, per-charge period and case total in separate columns, as in the table above.
