Start by matching the brushroll to your flooring, then compare hair-management tools, emptying, reach and storage. Shark’s recommendations are useful product guidance, not an independent test. Check the exact model number and bundle before buying, since features and included accessories can vary.
Start with your floors
If your home has both carpet and hard floors, compare the brushroll design and any floor-detection features. Shark recommends DuoClean brushrolls for carpet and hard floors, describing their two brushrolls as maintaining contact across surfaces. That is the manufacturer’s guidance, not a head-to-head result.

Choose hair-management features for your household
For pet hair or long hair, look for a self-cleaning or Anti Hair Wrap brushroll, then check whether the package includes a motorized pet tool. Shark presents self-cleaning brushrolls as a feature for pet hair and identifies a Pet Multi-Tool on the IP1251 product page. The tool is listed as an accessory, so do not assume it is included in every bundle. Verify the contents and compatibility for the model you are considering. Decide whether a self-emptying base is worth the space
Shark’s Clean & Empty models use a base to collect debris from the vacuum, reducing the need to empty the stick’s cup by hand after each cleaning session. The trade-off is a larger dock and a different capacity setup. Shark lists bases with capacities of 1.3 L or 2 L, depending on model; compare those figures with the standard model’s dust cup and the space available where you plan to store the vacuum. Check reach, storage and handling
If cleaning beneath furniture or storing the vacuum upright in a compact space matters, look at the wand design. Shark’s Stratos IZ862H has a MultiFLEX wand that bends to reach under furniture and folds for freestanding storage; Shark lists its weight as about 8.9 lb. Treat that weight as the listed product specification, not a comparison of how heavy every model feels in use. Compare runtime claims carefully
Runtime figures are manufacturer specifications, not a controlled comparison of cleaning time across models. Shark advertises up to 70 minutes for the PowerDetect IP1251, measured at the handvac in ECO mode. The claim does not mean 70 minutes of use in every mode or while cleaning with the full stick configuration. When comparing other models, note the mode and measurement point attached to each figure; if Shark does not state comparable conditions, the numbers do not establish which model will clean longer in your home.
