Match the mode to the result you want
Choose by the recipe’s intended texture and cooking style, then follow its stated mode, temperature and timing—especially when it was written for your exact model. A mode is a useful starting point, not a guarantee of identical results for every ingredient.

| Roast | A larger item or an oven-style roast | Follow the recipe’s roast directions for meat or vegetables. Ninja’s Roast Beef & Roast Potatoes recipe specifies Roast at 180°C for its beef and suggests 10 additional minutes of Roast for the potatoes if they need more browning. Those directions belong to that recipe; they are not a universal setting. |

When more than one mode seems plausible
Compare these details in order rather than choosing by mode name alone:

- Target surface and texture: Is the goal crisp, charred, browned, tender, baked or dried?
- Food size and shape: A larger item and a small component may call for different recipe directions.
- The recipe’s instructions: Prefer its named function, temperature and timing over an improvised substitution.
- Appliance match: Check whether the recipe is written for the EG351UK or another model. Similar mode names do not establish that settings transfer.
A mixed meal may require different directions for different components. Ninja’s Roast Chicken & Root Vegetables example uses Roast for a whole chicken and Air Fry for vegetables in separate drawers on a dual-zone product. It illustrates matching the mode to each component; it is not an EG351UK recipe, and its settings should not be transferred to that grill and air fryer.

Use model-specific guidance instead of a blanket conversion
The available EG351UK product information does not establish a universal time or temperature conversion from a conventional oven or another air fryer. Start with an EG351UK recipe or the cooking charts supplied with the appliance, check food during cooking where appropriate, and use the recipe’s suitable cues to confirm doneness. Ninja says the EG351UK includes a digital cooking probe that can monitor food temperature. See the product details.
TechRadar’s 2025-04-20 review reported good results from its baking, roasting, dehydrating and grilling tests, while some air-fried foods needed checking and adjustment. Treat that as one reviewer’s observation, not a guarantee or a substitute for the recipe guidance. Read the review.

Ninja’s UK product page makes three qualified comparisons. Each is a manufacturer claim tied to particular foods and methods, not a result promised for every recipe or mode.

- Up to 50% less energy than an oven: Ninja says this comparison was based on the recommended cook time for sausages using Air Fry versus conventional ovens.
