Check the monitor’s VESA pattern, its weight in the configuration you will mount, the arm’s minimum and maximum load ratings, and whether its clamp or grommet suits your desk. Then compare the adjustment range with how you want to position the screen.
Check the monitor’s mounting pattern and weight first
Find the exact model number and consult its manufacturer specifications or manual. Confirm the VESA hole spacing, the weight for the intended mounting configuration (usually with the stand removed), and whether the housing needs a model-specific adapter. Do not assume every 27-inch OLED uses the same pattern or mounting geometry.

For example, CORSAIR’s XENEON 27QHD240 OLED guide specifies 100 × 100 mm VESA compatibility and instructs users to attach a compatible mount only after checking weight and size support. It lists the monitor at 9.9 kg, but does not identify that figure as the weight without the stand. Do not treat it as a stand-removed weight unless the manufacturer confirms that measurement basis.
Also check whether the monitor has a recessed mounting area or needs spacers or an adapter. Compatibility can depend on the housing’s clearance as well as the hole pattern; the exact plate clearance for every monitor-arm combination is not established by the specifications cited here.

Match the arm’s VESA pattern and load range
The arm must support the monitor’s actual VESA pattern and keep its mounting weight within the arm’s stated minimum and maximum. A maximum capacity by itself is not enough: an arm may also have a minimum load, and a monitor below that minimum may not stay positioned as intended. If the manufacturer gives a separate limit for curved screens, use the relevant limit for your display.

Make sure the clamp or grommet fits your desk
Measure the desktop where the arm will attach, and check both thickness and construction against the arm’s installation instructions. A desk that is too thick, too thin, or unsuitable for the chosen attachment can rule out an otherwise compatible arm.

BenQ’s reinforcement-plate advice is specific to its BSL-series desk mounting, not a universal engineering rule for every desk and arm. For any model, follow its manufacturer’s installation guidance and do not assume a glass or lightweight desktop can safely carry a clamp load.

Choose movement that suits your setup
Compare the adjustment figures that matter for your desk: height travel, reach or extension, tilt, swivel, and pivot or rotation. More range is useful only if it helps you place the monitor where you need it and the arm can still move within the desk layout.

When comparing other models, look for manufacturer-stated features such as a quick-release VESA plate, tension adjustment, cable management, or a rotation stop if they matter to your setup. For instance, the Neomounts DS70-256BL1 ACE product sheet lists a 180° rotation stop; do not infer that a feature is present when a specification does not state it.

Use a fit checklist before choosing
- Identify the exact monitor model. Use its official specifications or manual to find the VESA pattern and mounting weight, including the measurement basis.
- Check the arm’s VESA compatibility. Confirm the pattern matches, and verify whether the monitor needs an adapter or clearance solution.
- Check the full load range. The monitor’s mounting weight must fall between the arm’s minimum and maximum; apply a separate curved-screen limit if specified.
- Measure the desk attachment point. Verify clamp or grommet compatibility, tabletop thickness, and any relevant construction warnings.
- Compare the movement range. Make sure the published height, extension, tilt, swivel, and pivot or rotation meet your layout needs.
- Read the exact model’s installation instructions. Confirm any required hardware, tension adjustment, reinforcement plate, and rotation limits before mounting.
A higher maximum load does not make an arm automatically better. Choose one that fits the monitor’s VESA pattern and mounting weight, attaches appropriately to the desk, and provides the movement you need.
