For most buyers, CMF Phone 2 Pro is the more flexible choice on published specifications. It adds a telephoto camera and an ultrawide camera, has a slightly larger display with a higher listed peak brightness, and carries a higher ingress-protection rating. Choose CMF Phone 1 instead if its interchangeable back cover is important to you or if its current local price is substantially lower.
That is a specification-based recommendation, not a claim that Phone 2 Pro takes better photos, lasts longer per charge, or delivers better sustained performance. Nothing’s figures are manufacturer specifications, and no independent head-to-head tests for camera quality, battery endurance, performance or repairability were identified. Check your country-specific price, warranty, stock and carrier compatibility before ordering.

The short decision
Start with the feature you will notice most often:
- Choose CMF Phone 2 Pro for more rear-camera framing options, a larger and brighter listed screen, newer page-listed software, and the stronger paper water-and-dust rating.
- Choose CMF Phone 1 if you specifically want its interchangeable rear cover and accessory point, or if a verified local deal makes it meaningfully cheaper.
- Do not choose on battery capacity alone: both models list the same capacity and charging rate, so specifications do not establish a runtime winner.
- Do not assume universal carrier compatibility: regional variants can have different bands and features.
Phone 2 Pro’s official specifications are on Nothing’s US product page; Phone 1’s cited specifications are on Nothing’s Europe product page. Availability, warranty terms and prices vary by market.

Choose Phone 2 Pro for camera versatility
What the additional cameras enable
Phone 2 Pro lists three rear cameras: a main camera for general scenes, a telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, and an ultrawide camera for fitting more of a scene into the frame. That combination gives you dedicated options for portraits, distant subjects, landscapes and tight interiors without relying entirely on digital cropping. Its listed telephoto mode reaches up to 20x digital zoom, but digital zoom is an enlargement setting rather than evidence of detail at that magnification.
Phone 1 lists a 50 MP main camera and a portrait sensor. It is the simpler arrangement: the main camera handles ordinary shots while the portrait sensor supports depth effects. If you mostly photograph people, pets, food and documents from normal distances, fewer cameras may be sufficient.
What these specifications do not prove
Megapixel counts and camera quantity do not establish image quality. They do not tell you how the phones handle motion, night scenes, skin tones, autofocus, video stabilization or HDR. No independent comparison was found for those behaviors, so select Phone 2 Pro for framing flexibility, not a guaranteed quality advantage.
Choose Phone 2 Pro for the larger, brighter listed display
Phone 2 Pro’s screen is listed as 6.77 inches with 3,000 nits peak brightness, while Phone 1’s is 6.67 inches with 2,000 nits peak brightness. Both list adaptive refresh up to 120 Hz. The extra diagonal space can help with maps, reading and split-screen work; the higher peak figure may provide more headroom for HDR or bright scenes.
Peak brightness is measured under the manufacturer’s stated conditions and is not a promise of equal visibility in every outdoor situation. Sun angle, automatic-brightness behavior, the content being displayed and the phone’s thermal state all matter. If compact handling matters more than a tenth of an inch, the size difference is modest enough that you should hold both models or compare their dimensions in a local store.
Understand the design and protection trade-off
Phone 1: the clearest customization option
Phone 1 explicitly advertises an interchangeable back cover and an accessory point. That makes it the more obvious choice for owners who want to change the phone’s appearance or use a model-specific accessory system. Confirm that replacement covers and accessories are actually sold in your market before treating the feature as a long-term ecosystem.
Phone 2 Pro: detachable hardware, uncertain cross-compatibility
Phone 2 Pro lists detachable screws and an accessory point. Nothing does not establish that Phone 1 back covers or accessories fit Phone 2 Pro, so do not buy panels on the assumption that the mounting system is shared. Look for an accessory that names your exact model and regional version.

IP ratings are limits, not waterproofing
Phone 2 Pro is listed at IP54 and Phone 1 at IP52. These ratings indicate different levels of protection against dust ingress and water exposure under test conditions, but neither phone should be described as waterproof. Keep ports dry, avoid deliberate immersion, and follow the warranty terms for liquid damage. A case can help with drops and scratches but does not upgrade the phone’s certified rating.
Battery, charging and processing: what can and cannot be decided
Battery specifications are tied
Both phones list a 5,000 mAh battery and 33 W charging. That means there is no specification-based winner for capacity or charging rate. Actual endurance depends on signal strength, screen brightness, camera use, games, background applications, temperature and software versions. No independent head-to-head battery test was identified, so avoid promises such as “lasts longer” for either model.
Processor names indicate positioning, not measured speed
Phone 1 uses the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 5G, while Phone 2 Pro lists the Dimensity 7300 Pro 5G. The names suggest different platform variants, but the cited material does not provide comparable benchmark results, sustained-load measurements or thermal testing. Choose based on the features you can verify rather than assuming a particular gaming or multitasking advantage.
Software support and update expectations
The Phone 2 Pro Europe page states: “The CMF Phone 2 Pro will get updates for 6 years starting from when the device first became available on nothing.tech.” That is a six-year support statement tied to the device’s first availability on Nothing’s website; it is not a promise of a specific number of Android version upgrades. Read the wording as a support-duration commitment and check the regional warranty and update policy before purchase.
The cited pages list Phone 2 Pro with Nothing OS 3.2 powered by Android 15 and Phone 1 with Nothing OS 2.6 powered by Android 14. Those are page-listed versions, not immutable labels: an already purchased phone may have received later updates, and a retail unit may require an update during setup. Confirm the software version and available update policy for your market.
Storage, accessories and what arrives in the box
Storage choice
Phone 2 Pro is listed with 128 GB or 256 GB storage and expansion up to 2 TB. The cited Phone 1 page lists 128 GB storage and does not state an expansion limit. If you keep large games, offline video or a substantial photo library, compare the exact SKU and expansion support before ordering; do not infer that every region offers every capacity.
Included protection for Phone 2 Pro
Nothing’s Phone 2 Pro box list includes a USB-C cable, pre-applied screen protector, case, SIM ejector and safety and warranty material. Additional protection is therefore optional rather than required on day one. Any replacement case or screen protector must name CMF Phone 2 Pro specifically; a physically similar Phone 1 accessory may not align with cameras, screws or buttons.

Network bands, SIM arrangements and other connectivity details can vary by regional SKU. The official Phone 2 Pro page lists bands, but this comparison does not verify compatibility with your carrier or country. Phone 1 also requires the same check.

- Identify the exact model number and region shown on the seller’s listing, not just the family name.
- Compare that model’s supported 4G and 5G bands with your carrier’s published requirements.
- Confirm whether your carrier requires a specific VoLTE, 5G or eSIM configuration.
- Check return terms in case the phone connects to LTE but lacks a band needed for reliable coverage.
- Verify that the warranty is valid in your country and that the seller is authorized for that region.
Do not assume that a US, European or imported version has identical bands, software features or warranty coverage.
How to make a price and value decision
Neither current local pricing nor marketplace stock is established here, and “better value” cannot be determined without those facts. Compare the phones on the same day, in the same currency and for equivalent warranty coverage.
| Check | Why it changes the decision |
|---|---|
| Exact storage and regional SKU | A lower headline price may represent less storage or an imported variant. |
| New versus refurbished condition | Battery health, accessories and warranty can differ substantially. |
| Warranty and returns | A small saving may not compensate for cross-border repair or return costs. |
| Included accessories | Phone 2 Pro’s listed case and screen protector reduce immediate add-on needs. |
| Current stock | Out-of-stock or delayed listings are not practical alternatives, regardless of the advertised price. |
| Carrier compatibility | An inexpensive phone that lacks your carrier’s bands is a false saving. |
Use Phone 1 as a conditional value pick only after checking those items. Use Phone 2 Pro as the default feature pick when its price premium is acceptable for the camera and display differences.

Pick Phone 2 Pro if you travel, photograph varied subjects or use maps outdoors
The dedicated telephoto and ultrawide cameras reduce the need to move physically for every composition. The larger display gives maps and navigation more room, and its higher listed peak brightness provides additional specification headroom. These are capability advantages, not guarantees of superior image processing or sunlight readability.
Pick Phone 1 if physical customization is your priority
Phone 1 is the model whose cited page explicitly promises an interchangeable back cover. If changing panels is central to your ownership experience, that feature outweighs the additional cameras on Phone 2 Pro. Confirm replacement-panel availability before buying.
Pick either model if your priorities are basic battery capacity and charging
Because the listed battery and charging figures match, those criteria alone do not separate the phones. Decide using camera flexibility, display size, customization, software-support wording, price and regional compatibility instead.
Pick neither until you verify your carrier
If you cannot match the exact SKU to your carrier’s bands and activation requirements, pause the purchase. A specification comparison cannot replace that local compatibility check.

A purchase-day checklist
- Write down your top two priorities: camera framing, display size, customization, software support, price or carrier fit.
- Open the official pages for CMF Phone 2 Pro and CMF Phone 1, then compare the exact regional listing offered to you.
- Confirm storage capacity, model number, SIM configuration and supported network bands.
- Check the seller’s current price, stock status, warranty region and return window.
- For Phone 1, verify that compatible interchangeable covers are available where you live.
- For Phone 2 Pro, verify whether any accessory you want is designed for Phone 2 Pro rather than Phone 1.
- Remember that the quoted brightness, camera counts, battery figures and IP ratings are manufacturer specifications, not independent performance tests.
- Keep the order confirmation and model number so support can identify the correct regional variant.
Bottom line
Choose CMF Phone 2 Pro when your decision is driven by camera flexibility, a larger/brighter listed display, storage options or the higher IP rating. Choose CMF Phone 1 when interchangeable back covers are the deciding feature or when a checked local price difference is large enough to outweigh those upgrades. For either model, verify the regional SKU, carrier bands, warranty and current price before purchase; the published specifications alone cannot establish which one is better value or which will last longer in your particular use.
