The best universal remote for a Hisense TV is the one that matches your exact TV model and platform. Hisense televisions use different operating systems and remote technologies, so no single universal remote is proven to work with every Hisense set. Before buying, record the full model number from the TV’s label or settings, identify whether it runs Roku TV, Google TV, Android TV or another platform, and check the remote’s compatibility list.
If you still have a compatible cable or satellite remote, programming it may be the simplest option. If the original remote is lost, you can use the TV’s physical buttons, a compatible replacement, a universal remote or a platform-specific phone app while you confirm the correct model.

Why there is no one universal “best” Hisense remote
A remote can fail to control a Hisense TV for several different reasons: the TV may use a different operating system, the remote may support only infrared (IR), the TV may require Bluetooth pairing, or the programming code may be intended for a particular cable or satellite remote rather than every universal handset.

Compatibility also affects the buttons you get. A basic IR remote may handle power, volume, input and channel changes but lack a voice microphone, navigation keys for a smart-TV interface or shortcuts for streaming services. A Bluetooth or hybrid remote may offer more complete control but require a pairing procedure.

Hisense’s own support material therefore treats the remote, the television and, in some cases, the provider’s equipment as a combined compatibility problem. The safest buying rule is simple: verify the exact model number and operating system before paying for a remote.
Start with the TV model and platform
Find the complete model number
Look for the model number on the rear or side label, the original carton, the purchase record or the TV’s settings menu. A partial family name such as “U6” or “H9” is not enough. The final letters and numbers can identify a different platform or generation with a different remote.
Write the model exactly as shown, including the screen-size digits and suffix. Keep that information beside you when reading a retailer compatibility list, contacting Hisense support or following a provider’s programming instructions.
Identify the operating system
Determine whether the set is a Roku TV, Google TV, Android TV or another Hisense platform. The operating system influences menu navigation, app shortcuts, mobile-app support and voice features. Roku TV owners, for example, are directed to Roku’s universal-remote code resource when using a cable or satellite remote.
Do not infer the platform solely from the Hisense logo or the TV’s age. Two televisions sold under the same screen-size family can use different software and different remotes.
Compatibility checklist before you buy
- Exact TV model: Match the full model number, not only the brand or series.
- Platform: Confirm Roku TV, Google TV, Android TV or the platform shown in the TV’s settings.
- Signal type: Check whether the remote uses IR, Bluetooth or both.
- Pairing: Determine whether the remote needs Bluetooth pairing or works immediately by line of sight.
- Controls: List the functions you actually need: power, volume, input, navigation, channel keys, voice control and app shortcuts.
- Existing equipment: If you use cable or satellite service, check whether its supplied remote can operate the TV.
- Power: Confirm the battery type and whether batteries are included.
- After-sale terms: Check the current price, warranty, return window and stock on the live listing.
A product page that says only “works with Hisense” is not enough evidence. Look for an explicit model list or a model-search tool, and save a screenshot or copy of the compatibility statement before ordering in case you need to return the remote.

The practical remote choices
1. A model-specific Hisense replacement
A replacement made for a particular Hisense model is usually the most direct route when your TV appears on the manufacturer’s live compatibility list. It is not automatically compatible with every Hisense television, however.

The T266510 is an OEM choice only when your model is on the current listing. Its Bluetooth-and-IR specification does not make it a universal replacement for other Hisense sets, and its app buttons do not prove that every Hisense platform supports the same services.
2. Your cable or satellite provider’s remote
If your television is connected to a cable or satellite box, the provider’s remote may already support TV power, volume, input and other basic functions. This can avoid buying another handset, but programming depends on the exact remote model and provider instructions.
Hisense advises consulting the provider’s manual. Its support FAQ lists code information for DIRECTV, Time Warner Cable, Comcast, Cox Communications and Dish Network. Those are provider-specific code lists, not a guarantee that one code works with every remote or Hisense model.

3. A third-party universal remote
A third-party universal remote can be useful when the original handset is unavailable or when you want one controller for the TV and other equipment. Choose one whose documentation names your exact Hisense model or platform and explains whether it uses IR, Bluetooth or both.

Check the button layout before buying. Some inexpensive remotes cover only power, volume, input and channel functions. If you use a smart-TV home screen, verify that the handset includes directional navigation, select, back, home and any app or voice controls you need.
Do not treat a large code database as proof of complete compatibility. A code may operate power and volume while leaving menus, app shortcuts or voice control unavailable.
4. A phone app or the TV’s own buttons
Hisense lists three ways to operate a TV without its original remote: use the physical buttons, obtain a universal or replacement remote, or use a mobile remote app. Android TV and Roku TV owners may also use their platform’s apps. App availability and network requirements depend on the exact television, so confirm that the phone and TV can meet those requirements before relying on this option.
How to use your Hisense TV without a remote?
Use the TV’s physical controls
Find the power and side buttons on the television. Hisense says these controls can be used to turn the set on and to change channels or volume. Button locations and available functions differ by model, so use the labels on the chassis or the model’s manual rather than assuming a particular button sequence.
Use a phone as a temporary remote
Install the appropriate Hisense or platform remote app only after confirming support for your TV’s operating system. The phone and television may need to be on the same network, and a TV that has never been connected to that network may require physical-button setup first. Because requirements vary, do not assume an app will discover every Hisense TV automatically.
Borrow or buy a compatible handset
If another remote is available in the home, check its model and programming documentation before trying random codes. For a replacement purchase, compare the exact TV model against the seller’s compatibility list and retain the receipt until every required function works.

What are the codes to program my remote to the TV?
There is no single Hisense code that can be promised for every universal remote. The correct code depends on the remote manufacturer, remote model, provider and television.

For a Hisense Roku TV controlled by a cable or satellite remote, the Hisense quick setup guide directs owners to the provider’s manual and Roku’s universal-remote code resource. Keep both model numbers available; a code intended for a different provider handset may not apply.
IR, Bluetooth and hybrid remotes: what changes?
Infrared (IR)
IR remotes send commands to a sensor on the TV and generally require a clear line of sight. They are often straightforward to test: point at the television and press power or volume. A remote can appear to work while some smart-TV functions remain unsupported if its code set is limited.
Bluetooth
Bluetooth remotes communicate wirelessly after pairing. They can offer more complete smart-TV navigation and do not need to be aimed at the TV, but the first pairing may require an on-screen prompt or a documented button combination. If the original remote is missing and the TV is not already paired, confirm how the replacement enters pairing mode before buying.
Hybrid IR/Bluetooth
The T266510 listing is an example of a hybrid design, specifying both Bluetooth and IR. Such a remote can use IR for basic commands and Bluetooth for supported smart-TV functions, but the listing’s compatibility remains limited to the models it names. Hybrid does not mean universal.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteVoice control is model dependent
Do not assume that a Hisense TV supports voice commands because it is a smart TV. A Hisense manual says Alexa control applies to supported models and requires setup with the Alexa app or an Echo device, an Amazon account and a Hisense account. The manual also notes that features can vary by model, country or region.
Best Value
- Multi-device control – Operate up to four audio and video devices such as your TV, Blu-ray player, DVD player, cable or satellite receiver, soundbar, streaming media player or other compatible devices
- Best TV remote code library – Universal TV remote works with all major brands and supports thousands of the latest audio and video devices (not for use with radio frequency devices like Roku Streaming Sticks and Amazon Fire TV/Sticks)
- Simple setup – Add two AAA batteries (not included) and enjoy easy automatic code search and direct code entry programming, as well as master volume control to adjust the audio no matter which device is being used
- Preprogrammed for Samsung and Roku – Universal remote’s TV and STRM device buttons are preprogrammed for immediate use with Samsung TVs and Roku streaming media boxes (not compatible with Roku Streaming Sticks)
- Fully backlit with a stylish finish – The classic black finish adds a classic look to any decor; blue LED backlighting helps you see each button easily in dark or dimly lit rooms
Before choosing a voice-focused remote, verify all of the following:
- The exact TV model supports the relevant voice skill.
- The television’s operating system and region are eligible.
- You have the required Alexa app or Echo device and accounts.
- The remote itself includes a microphone and supports the TV’s voice platform.
A remote can provide navigation without providing voice control, and a TV can support voice control without accepting voice commands from every universal handset.
Decision guide: which option fits your situation?
| Your situation | Most sensible first choice | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Your exact model appears on a live Hisense replacement listing | That model-specific OEM remote | Model number, connection type, batteries, warranty and current stock |
| You still have a cable or satellite remote | Program the existing provider remote | Remote model, provider manual and Hisense code list |
| You want one controller for several devices | A universal remote with explicit Hisense compatibility | TV model, platform, required buttons and device support |
| The original remote is lost but the TV is online | A compatible phone or platform app | Operating system, app support and network requirements |
| You need only temporary control | TV side buttons or a borrowed compatible remote | Available physical controls and correct programming instructions |
Common failure modes and fixes
The remote powers the TV but cannot open apps
This usually indicates partial code compatibility or an IR-only handset being used with smart-TV functions that require additional commands. Check whether the remote explicitly supports your platform and includes home, back, directional and select buttons. If it does not, use a model-specific or platform-compatible replacement.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Nothing happens when you enter a code
Confirm that you used the instructions for the exact remote model, not a similarly named handset. Replace weak batteries, aim an IR remote at the TV sensor and repeat the programming sequence from the beginning. If several documented codes fail, contact the provider or remote manufacturer rather than guessing codes from an unrelated list.
The remote worked until the batteries were replaced
Some remotes lose stored programming or pairing after a reset. Re-run the documented setup procedure and keep the successful code written down. Bluetooth models may need to be paired again.
The phone app cannot find the TV
Check that the TV is powered on, the phone and TV meet the app’s network requirements and the app supports the television’s platform. If the TV has never joined the network, use the physical buttons or a compatible remote to complete network setup first.
Voice commands work only in some situations
Review model and regional support, account sign-in and the required Alexa setup. Voice features can vary even among Hisense televisions using a related operating system.
Price, batteries, warranty and returns
Remote prices and stock change, so verify them on the live retailer or Hisense listing at the time of purchase. The indexed T266510 listing showed $29.99, two AAA batteries not included and a 90-day Hisense warranty; those terms describe that listing and should not be generalized to every Hisense replacement.
For any universal remote, check whether batteries are included, whether the seller accepts returns after opening the package and whether the warranty covers compatibility problems. Test every function during the return period: power, volume, input, navigation, home, back, app shortcuts and voice control if required.
Quick Recap
A purchase-and-setup checklist
- Record the full Hisense model number.
- Identify the TV platform in the settings menu or documentation.
- Decide whether you need basic TV control, smart navigation, app shortcuts, voice control or control of other devices.
- Check the candidate remote’s exact compatibility list and connection method.
- Confirm batteries, price, warranty, return terms and current availability.
- Keep the remote and TV model numbers together during programming.
- Follow the remote or provider manual, testing each code rather than assuming the first one is complete.
- Test all required functions before discarding packaging or missing the return deadline.
