What “portable Alexa speaker” actually does
Alexa is a network service, not a Bluetooth feature
Alexa voice requests normally need the speaker to reach Amazon’s service through Wi‑Fi. Choose Sonos Roam 2 for travel and exposure to water or dust
Roam 2 is the clearest choice when carrying weight and protection are priorities. Sonos lists a 0.95-pound weight and compact dimensions of 6.61 × 2.44 × 2.36 inches. Its IP67 rating is a materially stronger protection claim than IPX4: the product is listed as dustproof and waterproof, although you should still follow Sonos’s care instructions and avoid treating a protection rating as permission for every kind of submersion or salt-water use.

Plan around the Wi‑Fi boundary
At home, configure the speaker on the Wi‑Fi network that covers the rooms, patio or garden where you will use Alexa. For travel, download or queue music that your phone can play over Bluetooth and expect to control playback from the phone rather than by Alexa voice. A speaker was splashed or dropped in water
Follow the model’s drying and cleaning instructions, keep ports closed and do not charge while wet. IPX4 on the Bose model is not a submersion rating. Roam 2’s IP67 listing is stronger, but it is still not a substitute for the manufacturer’s care limits.
