There is no single best plane in Wings of Heroes: the right choice depends on whether you value speed, maneuverability, damage, survivability, or a balance of strengths. Match those priorities to your preferred mode, then account for the aircraft’s tier, rarity, and upgrades before spending resources. Pocket Gamer’s plane guide is a useful editorial snapshot for version 2.3.2, not an official ranking or controlled test.
Start with the way you want to fight
Aircraft choice is a tradeoff. A fast plane may help you pursue opponents but leave little room for mistakes; a more durable aircraft may survive longer while giving up speed or turning ability. Decide which performance traits matter most to you, then compare planes you can actually select in your Hangar.

Match aircraft strengths to your playstyle
Fast, aggressive engagements
If you like chasing opponents and making quick attacks, look first at fighters or other fast aircraft. Pocket Gamer describes the Tier II Messerschmitt BF 109 B-1 as very fast with a relatively short turn time, but with very low survivability. Its Tier IX Spitfire F MK IX is also described as very fast and suited to hounding opponents. Those are the guide’s judgments, not official performance recommendations.
Survivability and sustained damage
If staying in the fight matters more to you than pursuit speed, consider a bomber. Pocket Gamer characterizes the Tier III Blenheim MK I as slow but relatively well-rounded, with good damage and survivability. For a higher-tier contrast, it describes the B-17E Flying Fortress as slow and heavily armed, while the Spitfire is faster. Check the Hangar before relying on exact tier placement or stats.

Mixed roles and loadouts
A multirole fighter may suit you if you want a mix of speed, damage, and weapon options rather than specializing in one strength. Pocket Gamer describes the Beaufighter MK X and PE-2-31 as balanced aircraft with large arsenals and suspended armaments. The guide’s tier sections contain some confusingly grouped aircraft names, so confirm an aircraft’s tier and current attributes in-game.

Let the battle mode shape your priorities
The US App Store listing names Domination, Ace Mode Domination, Dogfight, and Annihilation. It describes Ace Mode Domination as rewarding precision and manual aiming, Dogfight as focused on speed and accuracy, and Domination as strategic area control with team play. These descriptions can help you decide what kind of performance you want, but they do not identify a best aircraft for any mode.

Check tier and matchmaking before selecting a plane
Tier can affect who you face. According to Ten Square Games Support, “Players on both teams are matched based on the highest-tier plane they have selected for the battle.” The support article says planes within about one tier may appear, regardless of upgrade level, and that the spread can be slightly broader when more players and tiers are involved.

Compare the whole build, not just the plane name
Ten Square Games Support says aircraft rarity—Common, Rare, Epic, or Legendary—affects overall power and performance. It also identifies Hangar Workshop perks, module upgrades, and battle power-ups as factors that can influence strength. As a result, a tier-list label alone cannot predict how a particular aircraft will perform in your hands or against the planes you meet.

How to use the current plane guide
Pocket Gamer’s “Best planes in Wings of Heroes”, by Cristina Mesesan and updated by Mihail Katsoris, is dated October 5, 2026 and identifies version 2.3.2. It covers recommendations across Tiers I–X and says that update added the Yermolayev Yer-2 M-105, Mitsubishi G4M1, Hawker Sea Fury FB. 11, and Heinkel He 111 H-16. Treat its recommendations as an editorial snapshot for that version: aircraft rosters and balance can change, and the guide itself cautions that there is no “one plane fits all” answer.
The guide advises upgrading listed planes when available and otherwise upgrading aircraft you already own. Use that advice alongside your own Hangar information, matchmaking context, and preferred playstyle rather than treating the guide as a permanent or official ranking.
