Choose scrubs by measuring yourself, checking the specific garment’s size chart, and testing how the fit behaves when you reach, bend, sit, and walk. Body-shape labels alone cannot tell you whether a top will stay covered or pants will move comfortably through a shift.
Start with measurements and the garment’s chart
Measure your chest at its fullest point, your waist at its natural crease, your hips around the fullest part of your hips and rear, and your inseam along the inside of your leg. Compare those measurements with the chart for the exact brand and garment; your usual clothing size is only a starting point.

If your measurements fall into different sizes, follow the maker’s instructions and consider whether you prefer a closer or roomier fit. Cherokee’s size chart, for example, directs shoppers to use the hip measurement when waist and hip measurements indicate different sizes. That is Cherokee-specific guidance, not a universal sizing rule.

Cherokee describes its junior contoured fit as close to the body, missy relaxed as roomier with ease and coverage, and unisex as loose and spacious. These are the company’s descriptions of its own fits, not standardized labels across scrub brands.

Check fit through movement and coverage
Try the scrubs on and test the movements your work requires. Reach overhead and forward, bend, sit, and walk. Check whether fabric pulls across your shoulders, chest, hips, thighs, or crotch, and whether the waistband digs in or slips. Notice whether the top hem rides up or pant hems interfere with your footwear.
A top should provide enough coverage as you move, and the pants should allow you to bend and walk without restriction. Cherokee’s fit guidance recommends balancing a semi-fitted feel with freedom of movement; it also notes that active workers may prefer joggers or stretch styles. Those are options to try, not guarantees that one cut will suit everyone.

Compare fabric and stretch descriptions
Stretch labels describe how a particular fabric is designed to move, but terminology can vary between makers and a label cannot guarantee personal comfort. Cherokee describes its 2-way stretch as moving side to side, 4-way as moving side to side and vertically, and 360-degree stretch as multidirectional movement with rebound. Check the fabric details for the item you are considering and, if possible, try it on.

Compare rise, leg cut, and inseam
Waist size alone does not determine how scrub pants fit. Compare the rise, leg shape, and actual inseam available for the specific item. Straight, tapered, jogger, and flare legs offer different shapes around the footwear and leg; choose according to your preference, movement needs, and workplace requirements rather than assuming one cut works best for a particular body shape.

These are approximate lengths in Cherokee’s chart; a product listing may offer fewer options or a different inseam. For example, Cherokee lists its Achieve men’s 5-pocket pull-on jogger, model CK-CK034, with a regular inseam of 30½ inches and a short inseam of 28 inches. Check the item listing rather than assuming the chart’s categories apply to every style.

Assess waistbands and pockets for your work
Adjustable drawstrings, elastic, or pull-on waistbands can help you find a comfortable setting, but the waistband should stay in place without digging in. Check fit while standing and sitting, and consider whether the rise feels comfortable during the movements you make most often.

Think about the items you actually carry. Pocket count and placement affect how the garment hangs when loaded. Cherokee advises checking that a top sits smoothly around its pockets and that filled pockets do not create bulk or restrict movement. More pockets are not automatically better if their contents pull on the fabric or get in your way.

Manufacturer descriptions can help narrow a choice, but they are specifications, not independent wear-test results. Confirm the current product listing for available lengths and details.
Cherokee describes its FORM collection as an 86% nylon and 14% spandex blend with 360-degree stretch, offered in trouser, tapered, and jogger silhouettes. This is the manufacturer’s collection description; compare the particular garment’s details and fit rather than treating the collection label as a prediction of comfort.
