If you mean the television connected to an Apple TV 4K, you can choose a memory collection, Favorites, or a particular album for its screen saver.
Why you can’t select photos on HomePod
HomePod and HomePod mini are speakers, not photo displays. Apple’s HomePod User Guide does not include a setting for choosing photos to show on the speaker. For photos on a television, the relevant device is Apple TV 4K.

Choose an album or collection on Apple TV 4K
Apple TV can use photos from Memories or albums as its screen saver. The available content and features can vary by country or region and Apple TV hardware.

Set a specific album from Photos
- Open the Photos app on Apple TV 4K.
- Go to Albums or Shared Albums and select the album you want.
- Choose Set as Screen Saver and confirm.
Choose from Screen Saver settings
- Open Settings > Screen Saver > Memories & Slideshows.
- Select Memories to use all memories or Favorites, or select Albums to choose Favorites, Activity, or a listed personal or shared album.
The same settings area also lets you choose a transition style between photos. Menu wording or availability may differ with Apple TV hardware and software version. See Apple’s Apple TV photo screen saver instructions and screen saver settings guide for details.

Use photos stored on a Mac
If your photo library is on a Mac and you want to share selected albums with Apple TV, use Home Sharing. Turn on Media Sharing and Home Sharing on the Mac, enable Share photos with Apple TV, then choose to share all photos and albums or only selected albums. Apple says, “The photo albums or folders you share appear in the Computers app on Apple TV 4K.”
Apple documents different setup paths for macOS Ventura or later, macOS Catalina through Monterey, and macOS Mojave or earlier. Follow the path for your Mac’s version in Apple’s Home Sharing instructions.

What HomePod does with Apple TV
You can use a HomePod as audio output for Apple TV 4K. Apple TV can send audio to AirPlay-enabled devices such as HomePod when they are on the same home network and set up in the Home app. That routes sound to the speaker; it does not turn HomePod into a screen or make it display photos.
