Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteChoose software by tracing your own transactions from order to settlement, books and GST reporting—not by picking the tool with the longest feature list. Many sellers need general GST accounting software, marketplace settlement reconciliation, or both. Test real files from every sales channel before committing, and have a qualified GST professional review tax treatment that depends on your business.
First decide what problem the software must solve
General accounting software records sales and purchases, maintains ledgers, supports invoicing and credit notes, and produces accounting or GST reports. Marketplace reconciliation software focuses on matching marketplace orders and returns to settlements, fees, deductions and bank payouts. Some products cover parts of both jobs, but a feature list alone does not show that a particular marketplace file can be imported accurately.

A small seller with few transactions may be able to review periodic summaries. A high-volume or multichannel seller may need order-level matching and a clear queue of exceptions. Treat that as a workload question to test, not a rule that determines which product you must buy.
Map your business before comparing products
Write down the operating details that affect fit. Include every marketplace and direct-sales channel, approximate monthly orders and line items, return and RTO patterns, legal entities and GST registrations, warehouses and fulfilment locations, current ledger or ERP, accountant handoff, and who reviews and submits returns. Record the filing process you actually use rather than assuming the software will replace it.

Use this map to define the required users, integrations, report types and processing volume. It also gives vendors a consistent basis for quotes and demonstrations.
Trace one transaction all the way through
Follow a representative order from its source report to the accounting record and reporting output. Include an ordinary sale and at least one return or refund. The goal is to see whether differences remain visible and traceable to source documents, not merely whether a dashboard displays totals.
- Order and invoice: Identify the marketplace or direct-channel order export and the customer invoice or sales record created from it.
- Tax and item data: Check how item and tax masters, including HSN/SAC fields where needed, are assigned and reviewed.
- Settlement: Match the order value to the settlement statement. Include commissions, logistics, advertising or other fees and deductions where applicable.
- Withholding and payout: Check how the records show platform tax collected or withheld where applicable, and how the net payout matches the bank transaction.
- Return and stock: Follow a refund, return, RTO or credit note through the accounts and inventory records. Include a return that crosses a reporting period to see how timing differences are surfaced.
- Reporting and review: Produce the accounting and GST reports or exports your accountant needs, then ask them to review a sample period.
A bank payout is not the same as gross sales: settlement deductions can make the deposit differ from the original order value. Queshift describes matching orders with settlements, returns, RTO, commissions, logistics, TDS/TCS and other deductions. That is a vendor’s description of its product, not independent evidence that the matching works accurately for your files.

Check the GST and accounting workflow
Ask vendors to demonstrate only the capabilities relevant to your mapped workflow. Depending on the business, these may include:
- Item and tax masters, invoices, purchase and sales ledgers, and credit or debit notes.
- Return, refund and reconciliation reports, with adjustments traceable to their source records.
- Inventory records, warehouse or fulfilment-location support, and returned-stock movements.
- Support for the seller’s GST registrations, along with user roles, approvals and an audit trail.
- Exports, APIs or migration paths that fit the current accounting system and accountant handoff.
Zoho Books’ India feature page describes HSN/SAC classification, invoicing, e-way bills, e-invoicing, approval workflows, reporting, inventory and multi-GSTN support. Those are vendor-stated capabilities; confirm the relevant plan and demonstrate the exact workflow you need. The feature list does not establish that marketplace settlement files are handled natively.
Do not treat a button labelled “file” or “compliant” as proof that the resulting treatment is legally correct. Ask how tax classifications, place-of-supply handling, return-period adjustments and multiple registrations are reviewed and corrected. Where the answer depends on your circumstances, get advice from a qualified GST professional.

Test imports, exceptions and reconciliation
Ask which exact marketplace reports and file formats are supported, how format changes are handled, how frequently imports run, and what happens to rejected rows. Run a trial using real files from each channel, including a busy-period file. Check what the software does with missing HSN/SAC data, duplicate uploads, cancellations, partial refunds, returns after settlement, and fees recorded separately from sales.
For each test, inspect the skipped or rejected rows, duplicate behavior, credit-note handling, reconciliation exceptions, audit trail and exported records. Measure how much manual mapping remains, and verify that an exception can be traced to the original report row. Do not judge a test solely by whether the headline totals appear to match.
Queshift describes order-wise matching, difference reporting, multi-platform reports and accounting-ready exports. ECom GST describes Amazon and Flipkart summaries and Zoho Books invoice and credit-note CSVs, while advising users not to modify source reports. These are descriptions on vendor pages, not independent verification of accuracy, support quality or current report coverage. ECom GST’s page appears old, so check current service status and compatibility before relying on it.

Compare the options against the same tests
| What to compare | What to verify | Practical test |
|---|---|---|
| Marketplace coverage | Channels and exact report types supported | Import a recent real file from every channel |
| Reconciliation depth | Summary totals versus order- and settlement-level matching | Trace a sale, fee, refund and payout end to end |
| GST and accounting workflow | Invoices, credit notes, tax masters, returns and review process | Ask your accountant to review a sample-period export |
| Inventory | SKU, warehouse, fulfilment location and return handling | Test a return and stock movement across locations |
| Scale | Orders, line items, registrations, users and processing time | Run a busy-period file and record failures |
| Controls and security | Roles, approvals, logs, backups and data handling | Request current security and access-control documentation |
| Integration and portability | Accounting, bank, API, import and export options | Test a migration and verify the resulting files |
| Total cost | Subscription, implementation, support and usage limits | Obtain written pricing for your planned scale |
Compare total cost, controls and the exit path
Request a written quote for the number of users, entities, GST registrations, marketplaces and transactions you expect to handle, plus historical imports, support and add-ons. Confirm usage limits and any implementation work that is priced separately; current prices and plan limits can change.
For cloud and desktop options, compare data access, backups, security documentation, role controls, audit trail and uptime commitments. Before importing live records, ask how to leave the service: what data can be exported, in what formats, and whether attachments and links between transactions are included. A system that cannot provide usable records on exit creates a cost that a subscription comparison may miss.
The GST Council’s 2024 audit-manual search result identifies cost, complexity, security, processing ability and scalability as accounting-system selection dimensions, and describes accounting systems as helping correlate transactions and ledgers with returns and financial statements. The manual PDF was not accessible for verification, so treat this as a paraphrase of the search result rather than a verified passage or assessment of any named product.

How to interpret vendor examples
These examples illustrate different feature categories, not a ranking or recommendation. Vendor pages describe vendor claims; they do not independently establish accuracy, security, regulatory approval or suitability for your business.
- Zoho Books: Its India page lists GST and accounting features such as tax data compilation, return filing, HSN/SAC codes, invoices, e-way bills, e-invoicing, approvals, reports, inventory and multi-GSTN support. Check the current plan and limits, and separately test whether your marketplace settlement workflow is covered.
- Queshift: Its site describes reconciliation for settlements, returns, RTO, commissions, logistics, TDS/TCS and other deductions, along with reports and accounting-ready exports for several marketplaces. The page says software downloads are forthcoming; confirm current availability and test performance rather than relying on vendor-published figures.
- ECom GST: Its page describes Amazon and Flipkart report summaries and invoice or credit-note imports for Zoho Books. Because the page appears old, verify that the service is operating and supports the report formats and privacy or security requirements you need.
- WimOnline: Its e-commerce page describes settlement imports, TCS ledgers, returns, inventory and GSTR export workflows. Treat these as vendor claims; verify current applicability and tax treatment against authoritative GST guidance or with a qualified adviser.
A GSTN-hosted search result described free accounting or billing software for MSMEs under a stated turnover limit, but the official PDF could not be opened. Current eligibility, vendors and availability are not confirmed here, so do not assume a free option is available to your business.
Make the decision with a controlled trial
Before moving live records, make a short written acceptance checklist based on the transaction path and comparison tests above. Run the same sample files through each shortlisted option, retain the source files and outputs, and have the people who will use or review the records inspect the exceptions and exports. Proceed only when the documented workflow, controls, price and exit terms fit your actual operation.
