What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Good Black Friday email subject lines make the real offer or next step clear, then match the moment in your campaign: teaser, early access, launch, last call, Cyber Monday, or follow-up. Below are more than 150 adaptable ideas. Replace the bracketed details with your actual offer, audience, and deadline; none is a performance guarantee.
How to choose the right Black Friday subject line
- Lead with the real value. Put the offer or main benefit near the beginning so it is easier to spot in an inbox preview. Treat roughly 33 visible characters on many mobile inboxes as a useful guide, not a universal limit.
- Match the send. A teaser, an early-access invitation, and a final-hours message have different jobs. Choose a line that reflects what the email actually contains.
- Make the whole inbox envelope work. The sender name and preview text should make the message recognizable and add useful detail rather than repeat the subject. Litmus puts it simply: “Pay attention to the entire inbox experience, not just the subject line.” Litmus holiday email guidance.
- Use urgency only when it is true. State a deadline only if the offer really ends then; repeated or misleading “last chance” claims can undermine trust.
- Test with more than opens. Drip notes that Apple Mail Privacy Protection can register an open when a message is delivered, even if the recipient may not have viewed it. Consider clicks, conversions, and other campaign goals alongside open rates: Drip’s Black Friday subject-line examples.
There is no universally best length or style. Shopify reports that MailerLite’s 2025 benchmark data found subject lines of 20–40 characters were 45% more likely to rank among the most-opened campaigns. That is a secondhand-reported association, not proof that shorter lines cause more opens: Shopify’s Black Friday email campaign guide.

Teaser subject lines
Use a teaser to signal that a sale is coming or set up a reveal. Avoid hinting at a discount or product that is not part of the planned campaign.

How to adapt and test these ideas
- Choose the campaign moment. Decide whether the email is a teaser, early-access message, launch, reminder, final call, Cyber Monday send, or post-sale follow-up.
- Write the factual core first. Name the offer, product, audience, or next step. Add a deadline only when one exists, and use the correct time zone where relevant.
- Trim from the front, not the value. Put the offer or benefit early enough to be visible in many mobile previews; around 33 characters is a practical guide, not a display guarantee.
- Complete the inbox envelope. Make the sender name recognizable and use preview text to add a distinct detail. Avoid making the subject and preview say the same thing.
- Check the promise. Verify that discounts, eligibility, product availability, and deadlines match the email and landing page. Explain exclusions in the message.
- Test fairly. Compare variants with the same audience and similar send context where possible. Treat opens cautiously because privacy features can affect the metric, and judge the campaign against its actual goal.
What the available figures do—and do not—tell you
Published figures describe different surveys, seasonal results, and curated archives; they are context, not a forecast for a particular campaign.
Best Value
- Email Love’s archive, updated July 2026, included 3,620 real Black Friday emails from 1,209 brands. Its archive average was 43 characters; 46% used discount language and 24% stated an exact percentage. These are observations of that archive, not universal benchmarks: Email Love’s archive analysis.
Use these patterns to generate candidates, then select the one that is clearest and most truthful for your specific audience and offer. The archive patterns and published benchmarks cannot establish that any one example here will produce a particular open rate or sale.
