Choose the Samsung S95H when direct reflections from windows or lamps are the problem you notice most. Its matte anti-reflective surface is more effective at suppressing mirror-like glare in daytime viewing. Choose the LG G6 when preserving dark-scene contrast in a bright room, cleaning up compressed or older video, or retaining shadow detail matters more than eliminating reflections.
Neither television is a universal winner. The best choice depends on the direction and intensity of light in your room, the quality of your sources, the picture mode you prefer, the screen size that fits your wall, and the exact regional model and price available where you live.

Start with the room, not the specification sheet
The Samsung S95H and LG G6 are 2026 premium OLED televisions. Both can produce the deep blacks, pixel-level contrast and wide viewing angles expected from OLED, but they react differently to ambient light and video quality. A showroom comparison under bright overhead lighting can therefore lead you to the wrong set for your home.
First identify what is actually spoiling your viewing. A window reflected in the panel is a reflection problem. Blacks that look gray in a sunlit room are a bright-room black-level problem. Blocky faces, ringing around text or noisy older broadcasts are processing problems. A set that solves one of these does not automatically solve the others.

The short decision
| Your room or viewing pattern | Better starting point | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Windows or lamps appear as sharp mirror images on the screen | Samsung S95H | RTINGS found its matte anti-reflective treatment reduced daytime glare more effectively. |
| Bright room, but dark films and shadow detail are the priority | LG G6 | RTINGS reported less black-level rise, and TechRadar preferred its bright-room Filmmaker Mode contrast in its test. |
| Frequent compressed streams, older broadcasts or low-quality cable | LG G6 | RTINGS gave the G6 a processing advantage with lower-quality content. |
| Dark or controllable room and preference for vivid color | Compare both modes in person | RTINGS found brighter, more vibrant Samsung colors; TechRadar found Samsung strengths in dark-room black tones and skin-tone accuracy. |
| HDR viewing focused on colorful, eye-catching highlights | Samsung S95H may appeal more | Its colors were reported as brighter and more vibrant, although this is not the same as winning every highlight or fullscreen test. |
| HDR scenes with highlights that remain bright for longer | LG G6 may appeal more | RTINGS said the LG can sustain bright highlights longer; the difference is visible only in some content. |
What the two OLEDs do differently
Samsung S95H: reflection control and vivid presentation
Samsung identifies the 2026 S95H as a 4K OLED television. In the United States, Samsung markets its anti-reflective feature as Glare Free; the UK product listing calls the feature Anti Reflection. Those names describe a market-specific coating and do not guarantee that every regional suffix or size has identical hardware. Confirm the full local model number before ordering.
The matte surface is the S95H’s most consequential room feature. In RTINGS’ direct comparison, it reduced daytime glare more effectively than the G6’s screen. If a bright window is directly opposite your sofa, a matte finish can turn a distracting reflected rectangle into a much less obvious wash of light. That does not make the room dark: ambient light can still lift the appearance of black areas, and the coating changes how light is scattered across the panel.
RTINGS also described the Samsung’s colors as brighter and more vibrant. TechRadar’s 2026 side-by-side review found more accurate-looking skin tones on the Samsung in its test, along with stronger dark-room black tones and higher perceived fullscreen brightness. These are test observations, not guarantees for every picture mode, firmware version or viewer.

LG’s 2026 announcement calls the G6 its brightest OLED yet and attributes a 45% brightness boost to the model. It also names the Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen3 and lists sizes from 55 to 97 inches. The announcement is manufacturer information, so the 45% figure should be treated as LG’s stated comparison rather than an independent laboratory result.
In a bright room, RTINGS found that the G6 kept black areas from rising as much as the Samsung. TechRadar likewise preferred the G6’s contrast and black-level presentation in Filmmaker Mode under bright-room conditions. This distinction matters when you watch letterboxed films, night scenes or space footage with lights on: the image can retain a darker overall appearance even though reflections remain visible on a glossier surface.
The G6 also received the processing advantage in RTINGS’ assessment, particularly with lower-quality material. Compression in streaming services, an older 1080i broadcast, a noisy DVD transfer or a channel with limited bandwidth gives the processor more work to do. Cleaner edges, more convincing scaling and less distracting noise can matter more than a small difference in peak brightness when much of your viewing is not pristine 4K.
Diagnose your lighting before choosing
1. Map direct reflection paths
- Stand or sit where the main viewer will be located during the day.
- Turn on the lamps you normally use and leave blinds or curtains in their usual position.
- Look for identifiable shapes in the dark parts of the screen: window frames, bulbs and bright sky are direct reflections.
- Note whether those shapes sit in the center of the image or mostly outside the viewing area.
If the reflection is a crisp shape that you cannot move or shade, give the S95H’s matte treatment high priority. If the light is diffuse and the main complaint is that black scenes look washed out, the G6’s lower reported black-level rise may be more valuable.

Reflection suppression and black-level preservation are different performance questions. A matte panel can hide the recognizable outline of a lamp while still receiving enough ambient light to make blacks appear lighter. Conversely, a panel that preserves blacks better can show a window reflection more clearly. Decide which distraction causes you to pause, close curtains or change seats most often.

3. Check whether you can control the light
Rooms with blackout shades, adjustable blinds or a viewing schedule after sunset give you more flexibility. In a controlled room, the Samsung’s matte surface is not automatically an advantage, and the LG’s contrast and processing strengths may become more important. In a room that stays bright all day, prioritize the issue you cannot realistically fix with furniture or window treatments.
Match the television to what you watch
Compressed streaming and older broadcasts
Lower-quality sources expose processing behavior. The G6 is the safer starting point if you watch a lot of heavily compressed streams, older live broadcasts, archive television or upscaled HD. Look for faces, fine hair, subtitles and diagonal lines when comparing sets; these reveal mosquito noise, ringing and scaling errors sooner than a clean 4K demo reel.
Films and prestige television in a lit room
For dark films watched with lights on, the G6’s reported resistance to black-level rise deserves serious weight. TechRadar’s preference for the G6 in bright-room Filmmaker Mode supports that use case. If the same room produces a direct window reflection across the image, however, the S95H may still be easier to watch. Sit at your actual viewing position and judge which problem is more disruptive.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteHDR games and colorful shows
RTINGS described the Samsung as delivering brighter, more vibrant colors. That can make animated programs, colorful games and saturated HDR scenes look more immediate. The LG was reported to sustain bright highlights longer, but the review noted that content showing this difference is uncommon. Do not reduce HDR performance to one peak-nit number: small highlights, large bright areas, color volume and duration are separate behaviors.
Skin tones and familiar content
TechRadar found Samsung’s skin-tone rendering favorable in its side-by-side test. Use familiar films, sports presenters or family videos when comparing, because an unfamiliar demo clip can make either set seem impressive without revealing a color preference you will notice every day. Compare the same picture mode and disable artificial showroom enhancements before deciding.
Bright-room scenarios: which set fits?
Windows directly opposite the screen
Favor the S95H when the dominant complaint is seeing the window itself reflected on the panel. RTINGS found the matte coating more effective for daytime glare. Close curtains for the most demanding scenes if possible, because no coating eliminates all effects of ambient light.
Side windows and moderate daylight
Either set can work. If side light creates a general haze rather than a recognizable reflection, the G6’s black-level behavior may produce the more convincing contrast. If lamps or a side window still create obvious bright patches from your seat, the S95H’s reflection control may matter more.

A bright room used for cinema
Choose the G6 when preserving dark-scene contrast is your stated priority and you can tolerate visible reflections. TechRadar’s Filmmaker Mode result is especially relevant to viewers who want a restrained, film-oriented image rather than a showroom presentation.

Understand brightness without being misled
Brightness has several meanings. A television can make a tiny HDR highlight very intense, hold that highlight for a longer period, fill the entire screen with a bright image, or produce more saturated color at a given luminance. These behaviors do not always point to the same winner.
RTINGS described the S95H and G6 as similar in overall brightness, while reporting brighter, more vibrant Samsung colors and longer sustained bright highlights on the LG. It also noted that material showing the sustained-highlight difference is rare. TechRadar’s review reported perceived fullscreen brightness advantages for Samsung in its tested conditions. Treat those findings as mode- and test-dependent observations, not a specification that predicts every scene.
Recommended Free Tools
LG’s stated 45% brightness boost for the G6 is a manufacturer claim from its 2026 announcement. The release does not turn that percentage into a universal comparison with the S95H, and it should not be read as “45% brighter in every scene.”
Picture modes and viewing conditions change the result
Review findings can diverge because picture modes, window sizes, firmware and test methods differ. TechRadar’s bright-room contrast preference for the G6 was specifically associated with Filmmaker Mode. A vivid or dynamic mode can alter brightness, color temperature and tone mapping enough to change your impression.
When comparing in a store or during a home return period:
- Select the same source and resolution on both televisions.
- Use the same or equivalent Movie or Filmmaker mode before experimenting with brighter modes.
- Watch a dark scene, a face in daylight, a large bright scene and a compressed broadcast.
- Test from your normal seat, not only from directly in front of the panel.
- Repeat the test with your room’s normal lamps and blinds.
Size, placement and installation checks
The G6 announcement lists 55-, through 97-inch models, but a complete country-by-country size list is not established here. Samsung’s product naming and available sizes also vary by market. Measure the wall, furniture and viewing distance, then verify the exact local SKU rather than assuming a US or UK listing applies to you.
Measure the whole installation
- Record the usable wall width and height, including shelves and speakers.
- Check the television’s complete width, height with stand and depth, not only the diagonal size.
- Confirm whether the advertised price includes a stand, wall-mount hardware or neither.
- Measure doorways, stair turns and lift interiors before arranging delivery.
- For wall mounting, locate suitable structural support and confirm the mount’s weight and VESA compatibility with the exact model.
Installation details, included hardware and delivery options can differ by region and retailer. A larger screen is not an upgrade if it forces an off-center position or leaves a window directly behind the viewer.

Price and availability: use launch figures correctly
LG announced a US preorder starting price of $2,499 for the G6 and retail availability beginning in March 2026. That is launch information, not a current offer, and it does not establish prices for other countries, sizes or later promotions. The cited evidence does not provide a comparable S95H launch price.
Before buying, compare the exact size and regional suffix, included stand or mount, delivery date, return window, dead-pixel policy and warranty terms. OLED pricing can vary substantially by size and promotion, so a nominally cheaper television may cost more after adding a stand, installation or delivery.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Choosing matte automatically
Matte reduces recognizable reflections, but it does not guarantee the darkest blacks in a bright room. If your priority is cinematic contrast rather than hiding a window outline, evaluate the G6 under your own lighting.
Choosing glossy automatically
A glossier presentation can preserve a punchier image in controlled light, yet a direct lamp or window can become impossible to ignore. Do not buy the G6 solely on the assumption that glossy always looks more vivid.
Using one brightness number as the verdict
Peak highlights, sustained highlights, fullscreen output and color brightness answer different questions. The available comparisons do not establish one universal brightness winner.
Ignoring source quality
If most viewing is compressed streaming or older television, processing can be more visible than small HDR differences. Include those sources in your test rather than relying on a pristine 4K demo.
Assuming regional models are identical
Samsung’s anti-reflection name changes between US and UK listings, and model suffixes are market-specific. Confirm tuner standards, input configuration, size availability, warranty coverage and included accessories for your country.

Quick Recap
A practical buying procedure
- Write down the dominant problem. Choose one: direct reflections, lifted blacks, poor processing, color preference or size and installation constraints.
- Classify the room. Note whether the main light is opposite, beside or behind the screen, and whether you can control it.
- List your sources. Estimate the share of pristine 4K, HDR, compressed streams, broadcast television and older video.
- Set a mode priority. Decide whether you will watch in Filmmaker, Movie or a brighter custom mode, then compare both televisions in that mode.
- Use four test scenes. Check a dark film scene, a face, a large bright image and a low-quality clip from your normal viewing.
- Verify the local configuration. Confirm suffix, size, dimensions, stand or mount, inputs, warranty and return policy.
- Check the live total cost. Treat LG’s $2,499 figure as launch US pricing only and obtain a current quote for both models in the same size and market.
- Choose the problem you cannot reasonably fix. Buy Samsung when reflections are the permanent obstacle; buy LG when black-level preservation or processing is the permanent priority.
Bottom-line scenarios
Choose Samsung S95H
- Your sofa faces a bright window or a lamp that appears clearly on the screen.
- Daytime viewing is common and closing blinds is impractical.
- You prefer vivid, bright color and liked Samsung’s skin-tone rendering in a side-by-side test.
- You mainly watch clean, high-quality sources and do not need the strongest processing for rough material.
Choose LG G6
- You watch dark films in a bright room and care more about keeping blacks dark than hiding reflections.
- Your library includes compressed streams, older broadcasts or other imperfect sources.
- You value the G6’s reported bright-room Filmmaker Mode contrast or its ability to sustain some bright highlights longer.
- You need a very large screen and a locally available size in LG’s announced 55-to-97-inch range.
Compare both before buying
- Your room is partly controllable and neither reflections nor black-level lift is clearly dominant.
- You watch a mix of pristine HDR, sports, television and games.
- You are buying in a market where size, suffix, installation hardware or pricing differs from US and UK listings.
