The Helio G81 is the more capable chipset on paper and leads the cited benchmark aggregates. Its newer CPU core design and higher-tier listed GPU make it the stronger choice for processing and graphics. That does not guarantee a particular G81 phone will outperform every G25 phone by a fixed amount: handset design, memory, thermals, software and benchmark version all affect results.
Helio G25 vs Helio G81 specifications
MediaTek’s specifications show the main difference in the CPU and GPU. Both platforms use a 12 nm process and support eMMC 5.1 storage, so those specifications do not distinguish them.

Why the G81 has the stronger CPU and GPU configuration
CPU architecture
The G25 uses eight Cortex-A53 cores. The G81 combines two Cortex-A75 cores with six Cortex-A55 cores. The G81’s newer high-performance cores can handle demanding CPU work more capably, while its A55 cores are a different, newer efficiency-core design than the G25’s A53 cores. The shared 2.0 GHz peak figure for the fastest cores does not make the CPUs equivalent: core architecture matters as well as clock speed.

Graphics
The G81’s listed Mali-G52 MC2 graphics configuration, with a maximum frequency of 820 MHz, is stronger on paper than the G25’s PowerVR GE8320 at up to 650 MHz. This points to the G81 as the better graphics option between these two chipsets, but it cannot establish how smoothly a specific game runs on a particular phone. Screen resolution, cooling, memory and software also affect game performance.
Benchmark comparison: G81 leads the cited aggregates
NanoReview’s pages, accessed in 2026, report these aggregate scores. The figures are attributed to NanoReview and should be read as reported aggregates rather than matched-device laboratory results.
| Benchmark | Helio G25 | Helio G81 |
|---|---|---|
| AnTuTu 11 | 163,723 | 358,608 |
| Geekbench 6 single-core | 185 | 432 |
| Geekbench 6 multi-core | 521 | 1,416 |
In these listed results, the G81 scores higher across all three measures. NanoReview’s G25 page shows two tested phone models for its PCMark section, while its G81 page shows twelve. The tested-phone counts differ, and the pages also include user-submitted results from differing dates and versions; they are not a controlled comparison of identical phone designs.

Those figures differ from NanoReview’s current listed values. See the 91mobiles G25 benchmark and specification page. What the specifications and scores mean for a phone
The chipset comparison favors the G81 for CPU-heavy tasks and graphics capability, and the cited benchmark aggregates point in the same direction. The available aggregate pages do not establish the size of the performance difference between phones in everyday use. A fair handset comparison would need the same benchmark version and controlled conditions, including phone model, RAM, storage, thermal behavior, software version and test procedure.
Both chips are listed as 4G platforms with Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0; neither is a 5G platform according to MediaTek’s cited specifications. Their shared 12 nm process and eMMC 5.1 support are also not reasons to prefer one over the other. The G81’s greater listed memory, display and media support ceilings do not mean a phone using it will include those capabilities.
How to choose between phones using these chipsets
Use the chipset as one part of the decision, then compare the exact phone models and regional variants. Check:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Installed RAM and storage: platform support is a ceiling, not a promise about the phone’s configuration. Capacity and handset implementation matter.
- Display: confirm the actual panel resolution and quality rather than relying on the chipset’s maximum supported resolution.
- Battery and cooling: these phone-level factors influence sustained performance and battery life; chipset specifications alone do not prove either outcome.
- Software support: check the manufacturer’s update policy for the specific model.
- Price and availability: compare current offers for the exact variant in your region.
For example, NanoReview lists the Xiaomi Redmi 14C among phones powered by the G81. Treat that as a chipset example, not a recommendation: confirm the exact regional variant and its current specifications before comparing it with a G25 handset.
