There is no reliable battery-life winner between iPhone and Samsung Galaxy without comparing specific models under the same workload. Choose by checking equivalent-model endurance tests, how quickly each phone can top up with the charger you own, and whether its wireless-charging setup suits your routine.
Which phone has better battery life, iPhone or Samsung?
It depends on the exact models and how you use them. A larger battery capacity in milliamp-hours (mAh) does not, by itself, mean longer runtime: screen brightness, mobile signal, apps, features and other usage all affect how long a phone lasts.

For a fair comparison, look for an independent test that evaluated the specific iPhone and Galaxy variants using the same method and workload. The official figures available here do not establish a cross-brand runtime winner.
For context, Samsung lists typical capacities of 4,300mAh for Galaxy S26 and 4,900mAh for Galaxy S26+. Samsung says those values are based on third-party laboratory testing and that actual battery life varies with network and use. They are specifications, not a direct comparison with an iPhone’s real-world runtime. Samsung Global Newsroom

Which charges faster, iPhone or Samsung?
Compare wired charging with wired charging, and wireless with wireless. A peak wireless-power figure is not a wired charging rate, and a manufacturer’s timed top-up claim is not a controlled comparison with another brand.
Wired charging
Samsung says Galaxy S26 can reach up to 55% in around 30 minutes with a 25W adapter, while Galaxy S26+ can reach up to 69% in around 30 minutes with a 45W adapter. These are Samsung internal lab results using pre-release devices starting at 0%, with services, features and the screen off. The adapter and cable are sold separately; actual speed varies. These figures do not show that either model charges faster than an iPhone. Samsung Global Newsroom

- Please note, this device does not support E-SIM; This 4G model is compatible with all GSM networks worldwide outside of the U.S. In the US, ONLY compatible with T-Mobile and their MVNO's (Metro and Standup). It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
- Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.
- Camera: 50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2.76", 0.64µm, AF | 50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2.76", 0.64µm, AF | 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro). Battery: 5000 mAh, non-removable | A power adapter is NOT included.
To compare two phones meaningfully, use results for your exact models and note the adapter, cable, starting charge and whether the display or apps were active. A charger’s maximum wattage alone does not tell you how long a particular phone will take to charge.
MagSafe wireless charging
Apple’s listed MagSafe rates depend on the iPhone model and charger setup. Certain compatible models support up to 25W peak with a 30W-or-greater adapter and the specified charger. iPhone 17e, iPhone 15 and earlier are listed for up to 15W with the specified charger and a 20W-or-greater adapter; iPhone 12 and 13 mini models may have lower limits. These are wireless peak-power claims, not wired rates, and actual power varies with model, adapter and system conditions. Apple Support: How to use your MagSafe Charger

Wireless charging can produce heat. Apple says software may limit charging above 80% if the iPhone or charger becomes too warm. If an iPhone is connected to both a MagSafe charger and cable power, Apple says it charges through the connector. Apple Support: How to use your MagSafe Charger
Can I use my old charger?
Often, but check the exact phone, adapter and cable rather than relying on a brand name or a wattage printed on the charger. Many recent Galaxy S and Z models use USB-C and support fast charging, but supported speeds vary by model. Samsung UK says recent phones typically include a USB-C cable but no wall adapter; what is included can vary by market, so check the packaging for the model sold where you live. A compatible USB-C PD wall adapter rated at 30W or more is required for Apple’s specified 25W MagSafe setup. For a Galaxy, match a compatible USB-C fast charger to that model’s supported charging speed. A higher-rated adapter does not make a phone exceed its supported rate; verify compatibility and the required cable before buying. How should wireless charging and travel needs affect the choice?
Wireless charging is most useful when you value easy placement on a desk, bedside stand or car mount. Check whether your chosen phone aligns with the charger, what adapter it needs and whether its supported charging rate suits your expectations. If charging access is the real constraint—on long days or while travelling—a portable battery may matter more than a headline capacity figure.

Samsung’s Australia product page lists its magnetic battery pack for up to 15W Qi2 wireless charging and up to 25W wired charging. Magnetic alignment and compatibility with a Galaxy depend on a Qi2-ready phone or case and the exact model; check compatibility before relying on the magnetic setup. A practical way to choose between two models
- Choose the exact pair. Compare the iPhone and Galaxy versions you would actually buy, including size and regional variant; broad brand labels are not enough to predict runtime.
- Check comparable endurance evidence. Prefer independent results using the same test and workload for both models. Do not use mAh as a substitute for runtime.
- Match your charging habits. If you usually plug in, compare wired results and supported adapters. If you use a stand or car mount, compare wireless standards, alignment and required accessories.
- Inventory your existing kit. Check your adapter’s protocol and wattage, cable connector and condition, and whether the phone’s box includes a wall adapter in your market.
- Account for days away from an outlet. If you regularly travel or have long days, confirm that a compatible portable battery fits your phone and charging routine.
Once the exact models and your usual charging setup are clear, the better choice is the one that meets your endurance needs and works with the accessories you are willing to carry—not the one with the larger advertised mAh number.
