There is no confirmed Galaxy S27 model or camera specification sheet yet. As of October 13, 2026, Samsung has not officially announced the S27 family, so no model can be responsibly ranked as having the “best camera.” Leaks describe a possible S27, S27+, S27 Pro and S27 Ultra, but the sensors, telephoto systems and even the Pro model remain unconfirmed. If camera hardware determines your purchase, wait for Samsung’s specification sheets and independent testing; if you need a phone now, use the officially documented Galaxy S26 family as your comparison baseline.
What you can and cannot choose today
The Galaxy S27 comparison is currently a planning exercise, not a finished product comparison. Samsung’s official materials available through October 13, 2026 contain no S27 model list, camera specifications, dimensions, prices, sample images or comparative tests. Every S27 camera detail circulating today comes from leak-based reporting and should be treated as provisional.

That distinction matters because a leaked megapixel count does not tell you how a camera performs in low light, how quickly it focuses, how cleanly it switches between lenses or how stable its video is. A supplier rumor can also change during development. Until Samsung publishes final specifications and phones reach reviewers, the correct answer to “Which Galaxy S27 has the best camera?” is that it has not been established.

- Galaxy S27: the standard model.
- Galaxy S27+: a larger version of the standard model.
- Galaxy S27 Pro: a rumored middle or upper tier that Samsung has not confirmed.

The Pro name, its position in the range and whether it will ship at all remain uncertain. Do not assume that a retailer listing, case listing or render proves a model exists.
What the camera leaks currently suggest
The following table consolidates the reported outline. These are leak claims, not Samsung specifications; “not settled” means the available reports do not establish a final component.
| Reported model | Main camera | Ultrawide | Telephoto or zoom | Selfie camera | Confidence and limitations |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S27 | 50MP with optical image stabilization (OIS) is reported; a 50MP Sony sensor has also been rumored. | 12MP reported. | Details not settled; 9to5Google lists the base-model telephoto information as not settled. | Not established. | Android Authority and 9to5Google describe leaks; a separate report says the Sony sensor was reportedly being tested. |
| Galaxy S27+ | 50MP with OIS is reported; a new or Sony sensor has been rumored. | 12MP reported. | Details not settled. | Not established. | No official sensor size, aperture or lens specification is available. |
| Galaxy S27 Pro | Reported, but the exact main sensor is not established. | 50MP is reported. | A 50MP zoom sensor may be shared with the Ultra, according to leak reports. | 16MP Samsung autofocus camera is reported. | The model itself is unconfirmed, and the optical zoom level is not consistently specified. |
| Galaxy S27 Ultra | A main camera is reported, but final resolution and sensor details are not confirmed. | A 50MP ultrawide is reported; one report names Sony IMX855. | A 50MP 5x optical zoom camera and another zoom camera are reported. | 16MP Samsung autofocus camera is reported. | These are leak-based component claims. Samsung has not published an S27 Ultra camera sheet. |
The reports agree on a general direction—higher-resolution ultrawide and telephoto hardware on the upper models—but they do not settle the details that determine real-world results. A 50MP label does not establish sensor area, pixel-binning behavior, lens quality, aperture, autofocus method or image-processing tuning. The reported Sony supplier and IMX855 designation are not confirmations that a final retail phone will use those parts.

Samsung officially describes the Galaxy S26 Ultra as the first Galaxy S phone with built-in Privacy Display. A report from Android Central says Samsung may consider extending the feature across the S27 range, but the report explicitly notes that Samsung has confirmed neither the S27 Pro nor a range-wide rollout. Treat Privacy Display on any S27 model as unconfirmed until Samsung documents it.
How to compare S27 cameras when Samsung publishes specifications
Use the following order. It prioritizes the hardware and functions that change what you can photograph, rather than starting with headline megapixels.
Rank #2
- TYPE IT IN. TRANSFORM IT FAST: Enhance any shot in seconds on your smartphone by using Photo Assist¹ with Galaxy AI.² Add objects, restore details, or apply new styles by simply typing or tapping
- MAKE IT. EDIT IT. SHARE IT: Turn everyday moments into something personal with creative tools built right into your mobile whether it’s a special contact photo, custom wallpaper, an invitation or more³
- FAST. POWERFUL. AI-READY: Power through your day with AI-accelerated performance from our fastest, smoothest and most powerful Galaxy processor yet, built to keep up with everything you do

- FIT EVERYONE IN THE SHOT: Group selfies are easier on your Samsung phone with a wider front camera⁴ that captures more of the scene, so no one gets left out of the moment
1. Check focal-length coverage and optical reach
First identify whether each model has three useful viewpoints: ultrawide, standard wide and one or more optical telephoto cameras. Record the actual optical magnification of every telephoto lens and whether the phone’s advertised maximum zoom is optical, a crop from a high-resolution sensor, or computational zoom.
- Ultrawide: important for architecture, landscapes, interiors and group photographs where you cannot step back.
- Standard wide: the lens you will use most often for people, food and everyday scenes.
- Telephoto: useful for portraits, stage events, distant details and perspective compression.
A model with a separate 5x telephoto can preserve more detail at that distance than a model that reaches 5x by cropping its main camera, but the result also depends on sensor size, stabilization and processing. Compare the lens options at the distances you actually photograph, not only the maximum number displayed in the camera app.

Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →2. Compare sensor size, aperture and stabilization
Ask for the physical sensor format or dimensions, not just resolution. A larger sensor can collect more light when other factors are similar, while aperture affects how much light reaches the sensor and how strongly the background can blur optically. OIS helps reduce hand shake for still photos and some video modes; it does not freeze a moving subject. Electronic or software stabilization can smooth walking footage but may crop the frame.
For every camera, record:
- Sensor dimensions or format and sensor generation.
- Resolution and the normal pixel-binning output.
- Lens aperture.
- OIS, electronic stabilization or both.
- Autofocus type, including whether an ultrawide or selfie camera focuses.
If Samsung supplies only a megapixel count, mark the other fields as unknown rather than treating the resolution as a performance ranking.
3. Treat the ultrawide and selfie cameras as separate buying decisions
Many comparisons focus on the main camera and overlook the lenses people use for group shots, close subjects and video calls. An ultrawide with autofocus can focus on nearby subjects and may support better close-up work than a fixed-focus unit. Check whether the selfie camera has autofocus, its sensor size and resolution, stabilization options and the supported video modes.

- MULTIPLE TASKS WITH ONE ASK: Streamline your day with an assistant that gets you. Ask it to Google search for a pet-friendly vegan restaurant nearby and text it to your friend— your Galaxy S25+ handles multiple tasks with a single ask.¹
- START THE DAY SMARTER: Stay one step ahead with a phone that gives you the info you need before you even know you need it with Now Brief.²
- REDUCE THE NOISE. REVEAL THE MAGIC: AI Camera with Audio Eraser lets you capture vibrant videos in low light and minimize unwanted noises so you can relive your favorite moments with fewer distractions.³
- BRING OUT THE BEST IN EVERY FACE: Capture every portrait with clarity and confidence on the Galaxy S25+ Series. The advanced portrait features adjust skin tones and preserve natural textures, giving every shot a polished, professional look.
- MORE POWER TO YOU: Reimagine what’s possible with the Galaxy S25+, featuring our most powerful processor yet. Effortlessly translate your calls, slow down a video, or edit your photos without skipping a beat.
The reported 16MP autofocus selfie camera for the Pro and Ultra would be a meaningful functional distinction if it reaches retail phones, but it is not confirmed. The reported 12MP ultrawides for the base and Plus models and 50MP ultrawides for the Pro and Ultra likewise need official confirmation before they can support a purchase decision.
4. Compare video modes, not just photo specifications
Read the official video table for each lens. Compare maximum resolution and frame rates, HDR availability, stabilization modes, audio recording features and whether you can switch lenses while recording. A phone may support a high frame rate only at a reduced resolution or with a crop. Night video, external-microphone support and stabilization behavior can differ by lens even when the headline video resolution is identical.
Independent launch testing should show whether autofocus hunts, exposure changes visibly during lens switching, stabilization introduces a strong crop or the telephoto camera is usable in dim light. No S27 hands-on video test or sample-image set had been published as of October 13, 2026.
5. Check model-specific software and display functions
Once the hardware is confirmed, compare camera-app controls, RAW or high-resolution capture options, portrait and night modes, subject tracking, AI editing tools and sharing workflows. Confirm whether a feature is available on every model or limited to the Ultra. Also check functions outside the camera that affect your use. Privacy Display, if offered, could change how you use a phone in public, but it may have trade-offs such as a narrower comfortable viewing angle or altered brightness. Do not infer those trade-offs for S27 until Samsung explains the implementation.
6. Include size and weight in the camera decision
Longer lenses and larger sensors generally require more internal space. Compare dimensions, weight and the camera bump before choosing the highest camera tier. A heavier phone may be harder to hold steady for long sessions, while a smaller model may be easier to carry but offer less optical reach. Do not substitute S26 dimensions for S27 dimensions; Samsung has not published the latter.

The verified Galaxy S26 baseline if you are buying before S27
Samsung announced the Galaxy S26 family on February 25, 2026, with its public announcement dated February 26. These are confirmed S26 facts and should not be transferred to S27.
| Model | Display size and resolution | Weight | Confirmed feature context |
|---|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S26 | 6.3-inch FHD+ | 167g | Part of Samsung’s camera experience integrating capture, editing and sharing. |
| Galaxy S26+ | 6.7-inch Quad HD+ | 190g | Same family-level camera and AI positioning; model-specific camera hardware must be checked in official specifications. |
| Galaxy S26 Ultra | 6.9-inch Quad HD+ | 214g | Samsung identifies it as the first Galaxy S phone with built-in Privacy Display. |
Samsung’s 2026 first-quarter interim report also records enhanced horizontal stabilization options for Super Steady. The report does not make that S26 feature evidence for any S27 model.
Samsung’s broader S26 positioning is captured in a statement from TM Roh, Chief Executive Officer, President and Head of the Device eXperience Division at Samsung Electronics: “With the Galaxy S26 series, we focused on making AI feel effortless, working quietly in the background so people can focus on what matters.” That statement describes the S26 experience; it is not a promise about S27 cameras.

Choose to wait if camera hardware is the deciding factor
Wait for Samsung’s announcement if you need a guaranteed telephoto lens, a particular sensor, autofocus on the selfie or ultrawide camera, or a confirmed stabilization and video mode. The current leaks cannot establish which S27 model delivers any of those requirements.
Buy an available phone if you need a handset now
Use the official S26 documentation, store demonstrations and independent S26 testing to choose among the S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra. Compare the actual camera specifications and results for the region and storage variant you intend to buy. Do not pay a premium for an S27 reservation, case or accessory based only on a leak; model dimensions and compatibility are not confirmed.

Consider the rumored Ultra only as a future category, not a current recommendation
The reported 50MP ultrawide, 50MP 5x optical telephoto and additional zoom camera would, if shipped, place the Ultra in a different camera category from the base models. That is a description of the rumor, not a recommendation. Final sensor sizes, apertures, image quality, price and availability could change.
Specification checklist for announcement day
When Samsung publishes the S27 pages, save the official specification sheets for every model and fill in this checklist before comparing prices:
- Write down the complete model list for your market, including whether a Pro model is actually offered.
- Record each camera’s sensor size, resolution, aperture, autofocus system and stabilization.
- List every optical focal length and mark which advertised zoom levels are crops or computational modes.
- Check whether the ultrawide and selfie cameras support autofocus and which video modes they support.
- Compare video resolution, frame rates, HDR, stabilization, lens switching and audio features.
- Verify Privacy Display and other special functions by model rather than assuming a range-wide rollout.
- Record dimensions, weight, display size and battery information so camera reach is weighed against portability.
- Read independent tests made with retail hardware, looking for daylight, low-light, moving-subject, portrait, ultrawide, telephoto and video samples.
- Check regional differences in processors, storage, connectivity and camera software before ordering.
- Recheck the information at retail availability; pre-release specifications and software can change.
Common mistakes when interpreting the S27 rumors
Mistake: treating a leak as an announcement
Use language such as “reported” or “rumored” for every pre-release detail. A report attributed to an unnamed source, supply-chain contact or testing program is not equivalent to Samsung’s published specification.
Recommended Free Tools
Mistake: equating megapixels with image quality
Resolution is only one variable. Sensor area, pixel size after binning, lens sharpness, aperture, autofocus, stabilization and processing can matter more in the conditions where you shoot. The reported 50MP main and ultrawide cameras therefore cannot be ranked against one another without complete specifications and test images.
Mistake: assuming the same camera system across a family
“S27 series” does not mean every model has the same lenses. The reports themselves suggest 12MP ultrawides for the base and Plus models and 50MP ultrawides for the rumored Pro and Ultra, with telephoto details still unsettled for the lower tiers.
Mistake: importing S26 features into S27 coverage
The S26 Ultra’s confirmed Privacy Display, the S26 family’s display sizes and weights, and the reported S26 Super Steady changes are not evidence that S27 models will have the same features or dimensions.
Mistake: ranking phones without controlled testing
No S27 comparative camera test or sample-image set is established. Avoid declaring a winner until reviewers can test retail devices across light levels, subjects, lenses and video modes.
Quick Recap
Bottom line for each type of buyer
- Camera-first buyer: wait for Samsung’s official S27 specifications and independent testing. The rumored Pro and Ultra may offer more camera hardware, but neither the models nor their final systems are confirmed.
- Buyer who needs a phone immediately: compare the documented S26 models and their tested results rather than buying against S27 rumors.
- Buyer choosing between rumored S27 tiers: use optical reach, sensor size, aperture, autofocus, stabilization and video support as the ranking criteria once those fields are official. Do not use megapixel count alone.
- Privacy-conscious buyer: treat Privacy Display as confirmed for S26 Ultra only until Samsung specifies which, if any, S27 models receive it.
