The cheaper choice is the one with the lower checkout total for the same console edition, the same game edition and format, and the accessories you actually need. Compare those items in the same market and at the same time, then include shipping, applicable taxes, and the value of any extras you would otherwise buy.
Start with an apples-to-apples total
A bundle is a good deal only when its complete checkout cost is lower than the cost of recreating the same setup separately. “Same setup” matters: a disc-capable console and a digital console are not interchangeable for a buyer who already owns discs, and a voucher is not the same product as a boxed game disc.

A negative result means the bundle is cheaper for that configuration. A positive result means separate purchases cost less. If the result is zero, choose based on stock, return terms, convenience, or whether the bundle includes an extra you genuinely want.

Record both totals before deciding. Do not compare a temporary bundle price from one day with a separate-purchase price from another day; console inventory and promotions move.
Choose the right PS5 edition before comparing prices
PlayStation’s US product overview describes a standard PS5 with 1TB of storage that plays PS5 and PS4 games on Blu-ray discs, and an 825GB Digital Edition without a disc drive. The descriptions are market- and model-specific, so verify the exact SKU on the listing you intend to buy: PlayStation 5 | Play Has No Limits.

Do not treat the difference as a cosmetic specification. If you have PS4 or PS5 discs, or intend to buy physical games, the drive-equipped configuration is the direct comparison. If you are happy with downloads and do not need discs, compare digital consoles with digital versions or vouchers of the game.
PlayStation says an optional Disc Drive is sold separately and intended for specified slim Digital Edition model groups. Compatibility is not universal across every PS5 model, so identify the model group first and check the current drive listing before adding its price to a comparison. The drive’s current price is not established in the product information here; use the live price for your region rather than an old figure.
Check what “game included” actually means
Bundle wording can hide a material difference. A game may be supplied as a physical disc, a code or voucher, or a digital entitlement. Read the contents section and compare that format with the separate game you would buy.
Voucher or download
The official UK EA SPORTS FC 26 Digital Edition bundle specifies a full-game voucher that must be downloaded. It is therefore not a boxed disc that can be inserted into a console. The listing is here: PlayStation 5 Digital Edition Console 825 GB – EA SPORTS FC 26 Bundle.
For a fair comparison, pair that bundle with the same game edition and digital format when buying separately. Comparing it with a discounted physical disc can produce a misleading result, especially if the console in the bundle is digital and cannot use that disc without a compatible add-on drive.

The same UK PlayStation Direct page also presents a bundle option for the 1TB disc console. Treat that as a different configuration from the 825GB Digital Edition bundle: record the console edition, storage and game format separately instead of assuming one saving claim applies to both.
Edition and region
Match the game edition named in the bundle, not merely the title. If a bundle names a particular edition, use that edition in the separate-purchase column. Keep the market consistent as well: a UK voucher and a US game listing are not interchangeable comparison points. The listing’s country, currency and redemption conditions should be checked before payment.
Use a repeatable price-check procedure
- Fix the market and date. Choose the country in which you will buy and note the date and time. Use one retailer where possible so shipping and tax treatment are comparable.
- Copy the bundle contents. Write down the console edition, storage capacity, named game edition, game format and every included accessory.
- Capture the bundle checkout total. Add shipping and applicable taxes. A displayed product price is not sufficient if charges appear later in checkout.
- Find the matching console-alone listing. Match the edition, storage, model group, region and condition. Do not substitute a digital console for a disc console merely because it is cheaper.
- Find the exact game separately. Match the title, edition and format. For a full-game voucher bundle, compare with the equivalent digital purchase or voucher, not automatically with a disc.
- Add required accessories. Include a compatible Disc Drive or another item only when your intended use requires it and the console does not already include it.
- Value extras honestly. If you would buy an included controller, count the amount you would have paid for that controller. If you would not use it, assign it little or no personal value rather than using its advertised retail price.
- Apply the formula. Subtract the separate total from the bundle total. Keep the arithmetic and the product links or screenshots so you can recheck a changing offer.
- Verify non-price terms. Check seller identity, local stock, delivery timing and return terms on the actual listing. Retailer-specific return policies are not established by the product pages cited here.
How to interpret a claimed saving
The official UK EA SPORTS FC 26 listing says “Save £69.99 vs. when items bought separately.” PlayStation Direct / Sony Interactive Entertainment published that comparison on a UK page accessed 13 October 2026. It is a seller-published claim for that offer, not a market-wide statistic, and it can change with the bundle price, the separate game price, stock and availability.
To test the claim, recreate the exact configuration at the same time: the 825GB Digital Edition (or the listed disc-console option), the specified EA SPORTS FC 26 full-game voucher, and any relevant delivery or tax charges. If your separate purchase uses a different edition, a physical disc, a different retailer or a different day’s price, your result is not the same comparison represented by the £69.99 statement.
PlayStation Direct’s US commerce page shows that console and bundle listings are available through a live store, where displayed prices and availability can change: Buy PS5 Consoles. A US listing should be evaluated in US dollars and US checkout conditions rather than using the UK claim as a conversion or benchmark.
Value accessories according to your use
Second controller
An official UK Digital Edition listing includes two DualSense wireless controllers and displays a console-only comparison option: PS5 Digital Edition 825GB – Two DualSense Wireless Controllers Bundle. That second controller improves the deal only if you want one and would otherwise purchase it. Someone buying a single-player setup should not automatically count the full retail value of a second controller as savings.
Disc Drive
A Disc Edition buyer does not need to add a drive. A Digital Edition buyer who intends to use discs may need the optional drive, but only specified slim Digital Edition model groups are described as compatible. Add the current compatible-drive price to the separate configuration and confirm that the bundle’s model group supports it before drawing a conclusion.
Storage and model details
The listed capacities are 1TB for the standard disc-capable PS5 and 825GB for the Digital Edition. Storage capacity should be recorded as part of the hardware match; do not silently treat those editions as identical when calculating a saving.

When a bundle is usually the stronger choice
- The bundle and separate option use the same console edition and storage capacity.
- The included game is the exact edition and format you would buy separately.
- The bundle checkout total remains lower after shipping, applicable taxes and any required add-ons.
- You would use the included accessories, such as the second controller in the two-controller listing.
- The listing has acceptable stock, delivery and return conditions for your purchase.
These conditions describe a verified price advantage, not a presumption that every bundle is discounted. The £69.99 UK FC 26 claim is one example of a specific offer; it does not establish a general bundle premium or discount.

- The bundle changes the console type you need, such as offering a Digital Edition when you require a built-in disc drive.
- The game format does not suit you: for example, a downloadable voucher when you specifically want a physical disc.
- The bundle includes an accessory you would not use and its price advantage depends on assigning that accessory a high retail value.
- A console-only promotion and a separate game discount produce a lower combined checkout total.
- The bundle is unavailable, has an unsuitable seller or has terms you cannot accept.
Buying separately also lets you select the exact console and game format independently. That flexibility can matter more than a small advertised saving when the bundle’s contents do not match your intended setup.
Complete a comparison worksheet
Fill in one row for each option before checkout. Use the retailer’s current figures and write “not stated” where a listing does not disclose a value; do not estimate an accessory price from memory.

After completing the table, subtract the separate-purchase final total from the bundle final total. Keep a note of which figures are recurring prices and which are one-time promotions. A saving shown on a product page is not a guarantee that the same amount will appear after delivery charges or on a later date.

Common comparison errors and how to correct them
Comparing different console editions
Symptom: The bundle looks dramatically cheaper because it contains an 825GB Digital Edition while the separate option uses the 1TB disc-capable PS5.
Correction: Rebuild the comparison with the same edition, storage and model group, or state clearly that you are choosing different hardware rather than measuring a bundle saving.
Assuming the included game is a disc
Symptom: The listing says “game included,” but the contents describe a voucher.
Correction: Read the contents line. The UK EA SPORTS FC 26 Digital Edition bundle identifies a full-game voucher that must be downloaded; compare it with the same digital format.
Adding an incompatible drive
Symptom: You include an optional Disc Drive in the calculation without checking the Digital Edition model group.
Correction: Identify the exact slim model and confirm compatibility on the current PlayStation listing before adding the drive’s price.
Counting unwanted extras as cash savings
Symptom: A two-controller bundle appears cheaper only because the calculation uses the controller’s advertised price, although you would not buy one.
Correction: Assign the extra its personal value—possibly zero—and compare again.
Repeating an old saving
Symptom: A £69.99 claim is copied into a new comparison after the listing or separate prices have changed.
Correction: Date-label the claim, check the live page and redo the checkout calculation in your market.
Ignoring checkout conditions
Symptom: The product-page prices look equal, but shipping, taxes, seller terms or stock differ.

A quick decision path
- Do you need to play discs? If yes, start with the disc-capable console configuration and exclude digital-only comparisons unless a compatible drive is explicitly available and included in your calculation.
- Is the bundle’s game format acceptable? If the answer is no, compare against a bundle or separate purchase that supplies your preferred format.
- Do the hardware and game edition match the separate option? If not, change the comparison before considering price.
- Is the bundle’s final checkout total lower after required add-ons? If yes, it is the lower-cost configuration at that moment.
- Would you use every included extra? If not, reduce its value and reassess whether the convenience is worth accepting it.
- Are stock, seller and return terms acceptable? If not, a nominal saving may not justify that listing.
What to verify immediately before payment
- The exact PS5 edition, storage capacity and model group shown in the cart.
- Whether the game is a disc, voucher or download, and which edition the bundle names.
- Whether a voucher is described as a full-game voucher and must be downloaded.
- Whether any included controller or other accessory is something you will use.
- The final amount after shipping and applicable taxes.
- Current stock, seller identity, delivery estimate and return terms on that listing.
- The date and country attached to any advertised saving.
The Bottom Line
Buy the bundle only when its final, region-matched checkout total beats the same PS5 edition plus the same game format and any required accessories; otherwise, buy separately and keep the flexibility to choose the hardware and extras you actually need.
