Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallChoose an NFT marketplace by starting with the NFT’s blockchain and your transaction type, then compare the complete checkout cost, royalty rules, wallet compatibility, and security controls. A low advertised platform fee can still be outweighed by gas, provider charges, collection-specific fees, or a royalty setting that is not enforced.
Start with the blockchain, not the marketplace name
An NFT marketplace is only useful if it supports the chain on which your NFT exists and the wallet you can safely use on that chain. A marketplace that works well for one collection or network may be unsuitable for another. Confirm the chain from the collection’s official information and from the asset’s contract details before connecting a wallet or transferring funds.

Identify your role and transaction
Your cost and risk depend on whether you are buying, selling, accepting an offer, minting in a primary drop, swapping, or setting a listing. Write down the exact action before comparing platforms.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches| Use case | Questions to answer | Why it changes the decision |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed-price purchase | Who pays purchase gas? Are there card or payment-provider charges? | The buyer commonly pays network gas, but the final checkout can include other charges. |
| Accepting an offer | Does the seller pay gas to accept? What creator earnings are deducted? | Acceptance can create a different fee pattern from a fixed-price sale. |
| Listing an NFT | Is the listing free, and does an approval transaction require gas? | A “0% listing fee” does not necessarily mean zero blockchain cost. |
| Primary mint | What mint fee, marketplace fee, and network gas are shown? | Primary drops can have a different platform fee from secondary sales. |
| Creator planning secondary sales | Is the royalty optional or contract-enforced, and on which venues? | A stated percentage is not automatically collected on every resale. |
Verify the collection and contract
Search for the collection’s official contract address rather than relying on a similar name, image, or social-media post. Compare the address shown by the marketplace with the address published by the creator. Inspect the NFT’s history, transfers, current owner, and metadata. A verified badge can be useful, but it is not a substitute for checking the contract and understanding what the purchase transfers.

Compare the complete transaction cost
Use this calculation for every intended order:
Total cost or proceeds = asset price + marketplace fee + blockchain gas + card, swap, or third-party provider charge + creator earnings or other collection charge.
For a seller, subtract fees from the sale proceeds. For a buyer, add every charge required before the wallet confirms. The live order and wallet screens are more authoritative than a generic fee page because fees can vary by collection, chain, transaction type, and date.
Published examples, with their limits
| Marketplace and scope | Published figure | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| OpenSea NFT sales | Typically 1% | OpenSea Help Center article dated May 12, 2026; figures can change and do not include gas. |
| OpenSea primary-drop minting | 10% | The same May 12, 2026 article describes this as a typical minting fee; confirm the current drop terms. |
| OpenSea swaps | 0% | A stated marketplace fee of 0% does not rule out gas or third-party provider charges. |
| Magic Eden Solana marketplace listings | 0% | Magic Eden Help Center article dated March 9, 2026; this figure concerns its Solana marketplace and is not a universal rule for every chain. |
| Magic Eden Solana marketplace transactions | 2% | Confirm the current chain, order type, and checkout because the cited article is specific to Solana. |
These figures are useful starting points, not permanent price guarantees. OpenSea says third-party provider fees may apply and that prices can change. Its developer documentation also explains that collection fees can differ and provides a way to retrieve the fees that apply to a particular collection. Check the intended order rather than assuming the platform headline applies.
Understand gas and who pays it
Gas is the blockchain transaction fee paid to validators, not necessarily to the marketplace. OpenSea’s help guidance states, “Gas fees are transaction fees paid to blockchain validators, not to OpenSea.” The responsible party depends on the action: OpenSea says buyers pay gas for fixed-price purchases, while sellers pay gas when accepting offers. Listing approvals can also require gas, and requirements vary by transaction. Network congestion can raise the amount.
Before confirming, expand the fee details in the marketplace and wallet. Look for the network, estimated gas, maximum or suggested fee, marketplace charge, creator earnings, and any payment-provider line. If the amount changes materially between the order page and wallet prompt, stop and determine why instead of signing automatically.

Use a live-cost checklist
- Select the exact NFT, chain, currency, and transaction type.
- Record the marketplace fee shown for that order, not a general help-page example.
- Check whether a collection fee or creator earnings amount is included.
- Check for card, swap, conversion, or other third-party provider charges.
- Open the wallet confirmation and verify the network gas estimate.
- Confirm the final total or net proceeds immediately before signing.
How royalties and creator earnings really work
Do not assume that a creator’s preferred royalty percentage is guaranteed on every secondary sale. Three separate settings can be involved: the creator’s stated preference, the marketplace’s checkout treatment, and contract-level enforcement.
Optional creator earnings
OpenSea uses the term “creator earnings” and distinguishes optional from enforced earnings. When earnings are optional, the seller can choose whether to include them. A creator may display a percentage while receiving less, or nothing, on a resale where the seller does not honor the optional setting.
Enforced earnings
Enforcement depends on the NFT contract configuration and marketplace support. OpenSea identifies ERC721-C and ERC1155-C compatibility for its enforcement mechanism. It says this setup supports sales on OpenSea and other marketplaces using LimitBreak’s Payment Processor, currently including Magic Eden. Other venues may require a different enforcement method or may not honor the same configuration.
Solana-specific marketplace guidance
Magic Eden’s cited Solana help article says creators set the royalty amount and it is paid after a sale when the trader honors it or when the metadata enforces it. The article directs users to inspect the item detail page for the stated percentage. Treat that explanation as guidance for the Solana marketplace, not as a rule for every chain or marketplace.
What buyers and creators should inspect
- Buyers: review the checkout total and the creator-earnings line before signing. It tells you what this order will charge, not what every future resale must charge.
- Creators: verify the contract standard, the enforcement configuration, and the venues that support it. Test the intended sales path with a small, controlled transaction when appropriate.
- Sellers: understand whether accepting a lower-royalty order changes the creator payment and your net proceeds.
Check wallet and chain compatibility
A wallet must work with both the marketplace and the relevant blockchain. Compatibility on one platform does not establish compatibility elsewhere. Also check whether the wallet can display the transaction clearly enough for you to understand what you are signing.

Example: OpenSea’s stated wallet support
OpenSea’s wallet article, dated July 17, 2026, says it supports wallets compatible with EIP-6963 and names MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, and Robinhood Wallet as examples. The same article says OpenSea does not support multisignature wallets at that time. Wallet availability and transaction support can change, and these statements do not establish support on another marketplace.

- Is the NFT on Ethereum, Solana, or another chain supported by this marketplace?
- Does the marketplace support the wallet’s connection method and the wallet version you use?
- If you use a multisignature setup, is that wallet type explicitly supported?
- Can the wallet switch to the intended blockchain without sending the asset to an incompatible address?
- Will the wallet show the contract, token, amount, recipient, and requested approvals?
OpenSea’s FAQ includes instructions for switching wallets among supported blockchains. Follow the marketplace’s current chain-switching procedure and verify the destination network before transferring an NFT or funding an account. A transfer to an incompatible address or unsupported chain can make recovery difficult or impossible.
Evaluate security in two layers
Marketplace safeguards can reduce some risks, but they cannot make an unsafe wallet action safe. Evaluate the platform’s support and contract controls, then protect your own wallet and signing process.
Account and wallet habits
- Never disclose a secret recovery phrase or private key. OpenSea states, “Your wallet’s secret recovery phrase is private to you and should never be shared, even with those you trust.”
- Download wallet software only from the wallet provider’s official site.
- Use the marketplace’s official domain and support channel, reached by typing the address or using a trusted bookmark.
- Limit smart-contract approvals and revoke permissions you no longer need, using a reputable approval-management method.
- Read every wallet prompt, including the contract address, token amount, recipient, and approval scope.
- Consider a hardware wallet as an additional protection for funds and NFTs. It does not prevent phishing, malicious contracts, or an unsafe signature.
Recognize phishing pressure
OpenSea’s phishing guidance, dated July 27, 2026, describes messages that imitate buyer errors, create urgency, send users to a site requesting a wallet signature, or demand a “fee” to complete a sale. It says, “We won’t DM you first on social media.” Treat unsolicited buyer-support messages, emailed signing links, and requests for a seed phrase, password, private key, or payment as warning signs. Navigate independently to the official marketplace and support channel.
Inspect the signing request
Stop if a prompt asks for unlimited token approval, an unfamiliar contract interaction, a transfer unrelated to your intended purchase, or permissions you cannot explain. A hardware wallet may display a transaction but cannot determine whether the contract is malicious. Reject the request, disconnect the site, and investigate the contract through independent official information.

A practical selection process
- Define the transaction. Record whether you are buying at a fixed price, making an offer, listing, accepting an offer, minting, or swapping.
- Confirm the chain. Match the collection’s official contract and network to the marketplace’s supported chains.
- Shortlist compatible wallets. Confirm connection method, chain switching, multisignature support if relevant, and readable signing prompts.
- Check the collection. Verify identity, contract, metadata, ownership history, and what rights or utility the NFT actually conveys.
- Read the fee schedule. Use platform figures only as examples; identify collection-specific fees and any provider charges.
- Estimate gas at the moment of action. Congestion and transaction requirements can change the estimate, especially for approvals and offer acceptance.
- Inspect creator earnings. Distinguish optional checkout settings from contract-enforced earnings and confirm which venues support enforcement.
- Review the final wallet prompt. Confirm network, contract, recipient, amount, approvals, and total. Reject anything that differs from your intended action.
Choose according to your situation
| If you are… | Prioritize | Do not overlook |
|---|---|---|
| A first-time buyer | Clear checkout totals, supported wallet, collection verification, and understandable signing prompts | Gas and provider charges that appear only at checkout |
| An active seller | Net proceeds after marketplace fee, gas, creator earnings, and offer-acceptance costs | Whether accepting an offer triggers a seller-paid transaction |
| A creator | Contract standards, royalty enforcement, supported venues, and accurate collection metadata | The difference between a displayed preference and enforceable payment |
| A multisignature-wallet user | Explicit wallet-type support and a transaction flow your signers can review | OpenSea’s stated lack of multisignature support as of July 17, 2026 |
| A Solana participant | Solana-specific fees, wallet support, and item-level royalty information | Applying a Solana marketplace figure to another chain or order type |
Common failure points and what to do
The fee is higher than expected
Compare the order page with the wallet prompt line by line. The difference may be gas, a collection fee, creator earnings, currency conversion, or a third-party provider charge. If you cannot identify the difference, reject the transaction and retry only after confirming the current fee details.
The wallet will not connect
Confirm that the wallet is supported by that marketplace, that the browser extension or mobile app is current, and that the wallet is on the NFT’s chain. Use the marketplace’s official connection flow rather than a link sent in a message. If the wallet type is multisignature, check explicit support instead of assuming a standard wallet connector will work.
A listing or approval requires gas
A zero marketplace listing fee can coexist with a blockchain approval transaction. Read the approval scope and gas estimate. Approve only the contract and token permissions required for the intended listing, and avoid unlimited approvals when a narrower option is available.
A creator royalty is missing
Inspect whether the collection uses optional earnings, whether the seller chose to honor them, and whether the contract and marketplace support enforcement. Check the collection’s contract configuration and the venue’s current policy; a percentage shown on one item page does not prove universal enforcement.
You receive a “buyer” message asking for a fee
Do not pay, click the link, or sign a transaction. Close the message, visit the marketplace through an independently verified address, and use its official reporting and support process. No legitimate support request should require your recovery phrase or private key.
Check before you transact
- Current marketplace fee for this exact order
- Blockchain network and live gas estimate
- Any card, swap, conversion, or third-party provider charge
- Creator-earnings amount and whether it is optional or enforced
- Collection identity, contract address, metadata, and ownership history
- Wallet compatibility, including chain and multisignature requirements
- Every recipient, approval, amount, and permission in the wallet prompt
- That you reached the marketplace and support channel independently
The suitable marketplace is the one that supports your collection and wallet while showing a cost and signing request you can explain. Compare the live transaction—not just the headline fee—and treat royalties, chain support, and security claims as specific technical conditions rather than universal promises.
