There is no established universal winner: the available comparisons are vendor-produced, and the products’ scores and sampling methods are not standardized across the category.
What AI visibility tools measure
These platforms monitor how a brand appears in AI-generated answers and search experiences. Depending on the product, reports may include brand mentions, linked citations, tracked prompts, competitors, share of voice, sentiment, or technical-readiness checks. The exact data and definitions vary by vendor, so similarly named scores are not automatically comparable.

For example, Semrush defines its AI Visibility score on a 0–100 scale and defines a mention as a prompt in which a brand appears in AI responses. That is Semrush’s own metric, not an industry standard or a direct measure of business impact. See Semrush’s AI visibility metric definitions.
Choose by your team’s monitoring needs
AI platform and geography coverage
Check which answer engines and search experiences a specific plan monitors, and confirm that coverage applies in the markets you care about. A tool’s broad platform list is useful only if it includes the surfaces and regions where your audience is asking questions.
#1 Best Overall
Prompt volume and refresh cadence
Compare the number of prompts you can track, how often results refresh, and what happens when you reach a limit. A small allowance may suit a focused brand-monitoring project; a larger content or multi-market program needs enough capacity to track its actual prompt set over time.
Evidence behind the report
Look beyond a headline score. Determine whether the tool shows the answers where a brand appeared, citation URLs or source domains, competitor appearances, sentiment, and changes over time. Ask how results are sampled and how each metric is defined before comparing vendors.
Recommendations and workflow fit
Some products connect monitoring to prompt research, content opportunities, technical checks, or existing SEO workflows. Prioritize features that fit how your team assigns and measures work; a visibility report alone does not establish what to change or whether a change will improve business results.

Reporting and total cost
Confirm whether the plan supports the number of users, domains, markets, and stakeholders you need, plus the exports, integrations, or client reporting your team relies on. Calculate the cost for that whole setup, including add-ons and usage caps, rather than choosing by entry price alone.

Where Semrush fits
Semrush is a plausible starting point for teams already working in its SEO ecosystem or looking for a defined feature set that combines monitoring with prompt research and a site audit. Its product information describes monitoring AI mentions and citations, competitor gaps, prompt opportunities, and connections to SEO workflows; available features and reporting cadence depend on the product and plan. See Semrush’s AI visibility features.
Semrush’s official pricing page lists AI Visibility Base at $99 per month per domain when billed annually. It lists 25 custom prompts, one domain for Brand Performance analysis, mentions from ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini, and Perplexity, competitor analysis, prompt research, and an AI-readiness site audit. These are vendor-listed plan details, and pricing or inclusions can change; check the current offer at Semrush’s AI Visibility Toolkit pricing page before buying.

Semrush’s help documentation also discusses plan limits, report and query allowances, and add-on routes. Those details may differ from a newer pricing page or from availability in a particular account or region, so use the checkout offer applicable to your account for a purchase decision. See Semrush’s AI Visibility Toolkit help documentation.

- Write down the decision you need to make. For example, decide whether you need to identify missing citations, monitor brand mentions, or report changes to clients. Choose metrics that can inform that decision.
- Specify your monitoring scope. List the answer engines, markets, brands or domains, and prompts you need. Use the same scope when requesting plans or trials.
- Verify plan-level limits. Check prompt capacity, refresh cadence, report allowances, users, exports, integrations, and add-on costs in current vendor documentation.
- Inspect the evidence behind each result. Ask to see the underlying answers, sources, and metric definitions—not just a score—and note where vendors use different methods.
- Compare the work the platform enables. Check whether findings connect to your team’s research, content, technical SEO, and reporting processes.
- Recheck volatile details before committing. Prices and feature sets change. Semrush’s 2026 editorial comparison is a useful market map, but it is not a substitute for current vendor documentation or a controlled, independent head-to-head test. See Semrush’s 2026 comparison of eight AI visibility tools.
What the available comparisons can—and cannot—tell you
The 2026 market comparison groups products around different use cases, including integrated SEO and AI visibility, enterprise analytics and workflows, analytics tied to traffic and citation opportunities, and lightweight monitoring. It also reports Otterly AI Lite at $29 per month, but that is a secondary, time-sensitive price claim; verify it with the vendor before relying on it. The comparison does not establish that one tool performs best, and cross-vendor feature details and prices have not been independently verified here.
Best Value
Use vendor descriptions to build a shortlist, not to infer that a higher score means greater real-world discoverability or business impact. If your team evaluates a platform, agree on a consistent prompt set and reporting period, then use its own definitions to interpret changes rather than comparing unlike vendor scores.
