Start with the devices, apps and recurring tasks you already rely on—not a brand name. Check separately whether an assistant is available on each device, syncs conversations between them, and can actually perform the actions you need inside your apps. Those are different capabilities, and support can depend on your device model, operating system, language, location, account and permissions.
What does “works across devices and apps” mean?
An assistant can be available on several devices without offering the same capabilities on all of them. Use these four checks to avoid mistaking app availability for full continuity or integration:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Availability: Is there an app or system integration for each device you use, and does your specific model and operating-system version qualify?
- Conversation continuity: Can you resume a chat elsewhere? Does it sync only conversation history, or also preserve useful context and settings?
- App actions: Can it carry out your task in the app—for example, create an event—or does it only answer a question about what to do?
- Consistent access: Are the same actions and data available on each device, or do they depend on a particular app, account, permission or platform?
Do not treat synced chat history as proof that an assistant can act in every connected app. Likewise, a connector for one service does not establish that every app or action is supported.
How to compare assistants for your own workflow
- List your devices and exact models. Include phones, computers, tablets, watches, home devices and vehicles if you expect to use the assistant on them. Record each device’s operating system and version.
- Name the apps and tasks that matter. Be specific: “create a calendar event from a message” is easier to verify than “help with productivity.” Include the account you use for each app.
- Check eligibility before comparing features. Confirm device, operating-system, language and regional requirements on the provider’s current support pages. Note whether the feature is in beta, rolling out gradually or subject to a waitlist.
- Verify the exact action and app. Look for documentation that names the task and service you care about. Check whether you must connect an account, grant access, use a particular app version or subscribe to a specific plan.
- Review permissions and data controls. Find out what information the assistant can access, where connected data may appear, how to disconnect a service and how to delete related conversation history. Read the terms for the account type you actually use.
- Try the same real task in each candidate. Use the same prompt, device and account where possible. Check whether the action completes, whether you must confirm it, and whether you can continue the conversation on another device. This is a practical personal check, not a substitute for a broad reliability test.
How the current product examples differ
These examples illustrate different approaches; they are not a market ranking. Features and eligibility can change, so check the linked provider documentation for your location and account before deciding.

Apple Siri AI: system actions and Apple-device continuity
Apple says Siri AI can use personal context from Messages, Mail, Calendar, Notes and Reminders, respond to on-screen context, and perform actions in apps—for example, sending a message or creating an event. Apple’s support page describes the feature as beta across iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, visionOS 27 and watchOS 27. Eligibility depends on supported hardware and a matching supported device and Siri language. Apple says it is currently available in English, is unavailable on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS for EU residents, and may require joining a waitlist whose timing varies. See Apple’s Siri AI support page.
Apple also says the Siri app syncs conversation history through iCloud among supported iPhone, Mac, iPad, Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro devices. That describes continuity across supported Apple products; it does not establish that the history or actions carry over to non-Apple devices.

In a September 14, 2026 announcement, Apple said its models run on device and on servers using Private Cloud Compute, and that personal data is not stored or accessible to Apple while Private Cloud Compute handles requests. This is Apple’s description of its privacy architecture, not an independent assessment. See Apple’s announcement.
Google Gemini: a gradual transition with device and country limits
Google describes a gradual upgrade from Google Assistant to Gemini. Its consumer page lists eligibility factors that include Android 9 or later, iOS 16 or later, at least 2 GB of RAM and availability in a supported country; Android Go is excluded in the cited description. Google also says some home speakers and displays, cars and TVs may continue using Google Assistant as Gemini experiences are brought to those devices. Treat this as rollout information, not a guarantee that Gemini is available on every qualifying device today. Check Google’s Gemini availability and upgrade information.

Google’s Gemini Apps Privacy Notice, last updated June 29, 2026, discusses possible mobile data categories including system permissions, device and app information, call and message logs, contacts, installed apps, language settings, screen content, connected-app information, and browser and device data. The notice identifies categories that may be involved; it does not say that every category is collected during every interaction. Microsoft Copilot: supported connectors and Microsoft 365 apps
Microsoft documents connectors for supported services. A user chooses a connector, authorizes the relevant personal Microsoft or Google account, and identifies the data it may access. For OneDrive or Outlook content, Microsoft says the personal Microsoft account used for Copilot must match the account used for that service. Microsoft says connected services process requests under existing access permissions and that responses containing connected data remain in conversation history until the conversation is deleted. Check the current connector list and settings in the Copilot experience you use; a connector does not imply universal app coverage. See Microsoft’s connector documentation.

Microsoft also documents Copilot in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and OneNote for Microsoft 365 home plans. Its privacy information distinguishes personal Microsoft accounts from work, school and organizational accounts, so do not assume the same feature or policy applies to every account. See Microsoft’s Microsoft 365 home-plan information and Microsoft’s privacy statement.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsQuestions to answer before you choose
- Will it work where I live and in my language? Check regional, language and platform-specific limits, not just the product’s general availability.
- Does my account qualify? A personal, work or school account may have different features, permissions or privacy terms. Confirm which account must be signed in to both the assistant and the connected service.
- What happens to connected information? Check what the assistant can read, whether it can act on your behalf, whether connected information appears in chat history and how to revoke access or remove that history.
- Is the feature included in my plan? The examples here do not establish a complete, comparable price or usage-limit picture. Verify the current plan terms for the exact integration and account you need rather than assuming it is included.
- Can I complete my real task reliably? Provider feature lists describe intended capabilities; they do not establish comparative reliability, successful task-completion rates or broad third-party app coverage. Test your own workflow before depending on it.
Make the decision from your checklist
Choose the candidate that meets your actual requirements across your devices, supports the specific app actions you need, and offers account and data controls you are comfortable with. If none covers the whole workflow, decide which device or task matters most and whether using more than one assistant is acceptable. Recheck eligibility and plan terms before you commit: these products are changing through active rollouts.
