The 105 cm ABS PROPLICA is an interactive display collectible with a sheath, stand, sound, music and vibration. Nintendo’s listed Disguise costume sword is a much smaller 26-inch toy with a scabbard. Neither specification makes these products interchangeable, and neither should be treated as a functional metal weapon.
Start with the job the replica must do
A Master Sword replica can be a display centerpiece, a costume accessory or a convention prop. Those uses impose different requirements for length, durability, electronics, storage and safety. Decide which of these matters most before looking at photographs or seller ratings.

Display collectible
For a shelf, cabinet or dedicated Zelda display, the Tamashii Nations PROPLICA The Legend of Zelda Master Sword is the documented display-oriented option. Its published overall length is 1,050 mm (105 cm), its blade and body are ABS, and the package includes a sheath and display stand set. It also has sound effects, eight songs from The Legend of Zelda series and built-in vibration. The size and electronics make it suitable for presentation rather than for carrying around a crowded event.
Costume accessory
If you need a compact item that completes a Link costume, Nintendo’s U.S. listing for the Disguise Costume Master Sword (SKU 119486) gives dimensions of 26 × 6 × 2 inches and describes the contents as “one toy sword and scabbard.” That page does not specify the material. Because the listing is for a toy and does not establish a particular event’s approval, treat it as a costume accessory, not as proof that a convention will admit it.

Convention prop
Convention requirements can favor a lightweight foam or plastic prop, but there is no single standard size or construction for that category. Approval depends on the exact item and the event’s current policy. A replica that is acceptable at one show can be refused at another, even if it is blunt.

Use these comparison axes when evaluating any other listing: intended use, total length, storage footprint, stated material, sheath or stand included, electronic features, age guidance, licensing evidence and the policy of the event you will attend.
Get the size right before you order
Understanding 105 cm versus 26 inches
The PROPLICA’s 105 cm length is approximately 41.3 inches, while the listed costume sword is 26 inches overall. That is a difference of roughly 15 inches, large enough to change how the item photographs, travels and fits in a costume case. Do not use the 26-inch figure to plan a display mount for the PROPLICA, or assume that a 105 cm collectible will fit a child-sized costume.

Measure your display and transport route
- Measure the inside length of the cabinet, wall mount or storage case, leaving clearance at both ends for the sheath and stand.
- Measure doors, stair turns and vehicle storage areas. A 105 cm object can be awkward even when the blade itself fits a shelf.
- Record the dimensions of the space in the same units as the listing. Convert inches to centimetres only after checking whether the seller is giving overall length or a package dimension.
- For a costume, measure from the belt or harness position to the floor. A long prop can catch on steps or other attendees even when the product is lightweight.
The Nintendo listing’s 26 × 6 × 2-inch figures include three dimensions, but it does not explain which measurement is the sword’s usable length versus the package or widest points. Confirm that interpretation with the seller before designing a scabbard, belt loop or case.

Read the material specification literally
ABS on the PROPLICA
ABS is a plastic material. The manufacturer’s 105 cm PROPLICA specification does not describe a metal blade, sharpened edge or functional weapon. Its electronic effects and stand reinforce its role as a display product. Do not sand, sharpen, drill or otherwise modify it in an attempt to make it functional; those changes can damage the electronics or create a safety problem and would not turn it into a certified weapon.
Material not stated for the costume listing
Nintendo’s page identifies the manufacturer and SKU and lists a toy sword and scabbard, but it does not name the plastic, foam or other material. Do not infer a material from a product photograph. If flexibility, weight or impact behavior matters for your costume or venue, ask the seller for a written specification or choose a listing that states it clearly.
Foam and plastic props
“Foam” or “plastic” in a title is not a complete safety specification. Look for the actual construction, rigid cores, exposed edges, attachments and any metal fittings. A lightweight prop may satisfy one venue’s weight rule while still failing a rule about realistic weapon shapes, pointed tips or required inspection.
Check what is actually in the box
PROPLICA contents and functions
The PROPLICA documentation lists a sheath and display stand set, so the purchase is more than a loose sword. Its sound effects, eight Zelda-series songs and vibration are built-in presentation features. Confirm that the listing you are buying corresponds to this product page and not to a sword-only aftermarket item; a seller’s photograph can show accessories that are not included in the specific package.

Costume sword contents
Nintendo describes the Disguise item as one toy sword and scabbard. The listing does not establish a stand, music, vibration or other electronics. If a marketplace description adds accessories, compare its SKU and contents with Nintendo’s listing rather than assuming the additional items belong to the standard package.
Questions to ask about third-party props
- Is the sheath or scabbard included, or is it sold separately?
- Does the price cover a display stand, belt attachment or only the sword-shaped prop?
- Are lights, sound modules or batteries included, and are they removable for event inspection?
- Which dimensions describe the finished prop, and which describe shipping packaging?
- Are any rigid rods, wires, screws or metal fittings inside the prop?
Use licensing marks as an identity check
Nintendo UK explains that “THE OFFICIAL SEAL IS YOUR ASSURANCE THAT THIS PRODUCT IS LICENSED BY NINTENDO.” Its licensed and unlicensed products guidance also says unlicensed accessories do not undergo Nintendo’s testing and evaluation process. Apply that guidance narrowly: inspect the packaging, seller identity, product name and licensing marks, then verify that they refer to the exact replica you are considering.
A seal is evidence of licensing, not a guarantee that every construction detail suits your event or that every marketplace listing is genuine. Fan-made and unlicensed props can have useful designs, but their material, dimensions and safety controls must be established from the individual maker’s documentation. Avoid listings that use Nintendo artwork while withholding a manufacturer, SKU, dimensions or contents.
Check the convention policy before packing the sword
Policies change by event and year. The following examples show why a general “blunt props are allowed” assumption is unsafe:

San Diego Comic-Con
San Diego Comic-Con’s convention policies state that functional or sharp-edged props and weapons are not allowed. Costume props may also be subject to security approval. Read the current policy and allow time for inspection rather than relying on a product’s bluntness alone.
Sakura-Con
Sakura-Con’s policies require inspection and peace-bonding for many weapon-like props and restrict certain metal blade props. A sheath does not remove the obligation to present the item for inspection when the policy requires it.
Otakuthon 2026
Otakuthon’s 2026 props policy says melee weapons made from foam or another lightweight material may be allowed, while metal melee weapons are prohibited. This is an event-specific example, not a universal rule for every convention or future Otakuthon edition.

Your pre-event checklist
- Read the policy page for the exact event, city and year of attendance.
- Search the policy for metal, sharp edges, realistic weapons, weight, length, peace-bonding and security approval.
- Save an offline copy or screenshot in case venue connectivity is poor.
- Bring the prop in a case or bag if the policy or venue requires covered transport.
- Plan to surrender, modify or leave the prop behind if security rejects it; do not argue that another event allowed it.
Verify the product and seller before paying
- Match the identity. Compare the exact product name, manufacturer, SKU and photographs with the manufacturer or Nintendo page. The costume item’s identifying SKU is 119486.
- Match the measurements. Confirm whether the listing says 1,050 mm/105 cm or 26 inches, and whether the dimensions are for the finished item.
- Match the material. Require a stated material. Treat “metal-look,” “premium,” or “battle ready” as marketing language unless the construction is documented.
- Match the contents. Check for the sheath, scabbard, stand and electronics you actually need; do not assume a photograph defines the package.
- Check age guidance. Tamashii Nations lists the PROPLICA target age as 15+. Keep that guidance with the product rather than treating a collectible as a children’s toy.
- Check returns and damage inspection. Photograph the package on arrival and inspect electronic functions, seams and included accessories before discarding shipping materials.
- Check regional stock. Product pages and marketplace inventory can change independently. Confirm that the seller ships to your country, states the correct edition and gives a realistic dispatch date.
Understand the PROPLICA price and release timing
Tamashii Nations’ re-release information lists a recommended retail price of ¥29,700 including Japanese consumption tax and an April 2027 re-release month. That is a Japan-stated recommended price and schedule, not a global street price or a guarantee of current stock in your region. Import costs, exchange rates, retailer markups and shipping can change the amount a buyer actually pays.

The original PROPLICA release date was September 21, 2024. A re-release listing does not mean every region will receive inventory at the same time. Before ordering, verify whether you are looking at the original release, the listed re-release or a used item, and check the seller’s condition notes.
Store and handle each type appropriately
For the ABS display collectible
- Use the supplied stand and sheath rather than balancing the sword on an improvised hook.
- Keep the display away from moisture, heat and direct sunlight that can stress plastic, finishes or electronics.
- Keep the product’s packaging and documentation if you may move or resell it; they help confirm identity and protect the long item during transport.
- Transport it sheathed and secured so the electronics and surfaces are not struck by other objects.
For the costume toy
- Use the scabbard as intended and secure it so it cannot swing into another person.
- Inspect the tip, edges and attachment points before each event.
- Do not add a rigid or metal reinforcement without checking the event policy again.
For a lightweight custom prop
- Ask the maker how the core, tip and fittings are constructed.
- Check for loose paint, exposed rods, sharp fasteners and detachable parts.
- Carry documentation or the product page when a venue’s inspection team needs to identify the material.
Common buying mistakes and how to avoid them
Buying by image scale
Listing photos often place a sword beside a person or costume without a reliable reference. Use the published 105 cm or 26-inch figure and measure it on the floor before ordering.
Assuming every “Master Sword” is the same product
The PROPLICA and the Disguise costume item have different lengths, materials and purposes. Search results can mix them with fan-made props. Compare the manufacturer, SKU, dimensions and contents rather than relying on the character name alone.

Confusing licensing with event approval
A Nintendo-licensed product can still be too large, too heavy or otherwise disallowed by a convention. Conversely, a lightweight fan-made prop may fit an event’s construction rule without being Nintendo-licensed. Make both checks separately.
Assuming a re-release is available now
The documented April 2027 re-release month is future-dated relative to the 2026 product information. Regional stock and retailer timing can differ, so verify the current status and avoid paying a “preorder” price that does not clearly state the release region or date.

Which replica should you choose?
Choose the PROPLICA when the replica will live primarily in a display and you want a documented 105 cm ABS collectible with a sheath, stand and built-in Zelda audio and vibration. Choose the 26-inch Disguise item when compact costume scale matters more than display electronics, while recognizing that its material is not specified on Nintendo’s listing. For a convention, start with the event’s current rules and then select a lightweight prop whose construction is documented; no product page can guarantee admission.
