Choose a Xiaomi phone according to the cross-device tasks you actually need, not on the assumption that it will become part of Apple’s ecosystem. Xiaomi documents useful links between selected Xiaomi phones and Apple devices, but compatibility depends on the Xiaomi model, HyperOS version, Xiaomi Interconnectivity app, iPhone generation, operating-system versions, account settings, network conditions and region.
For many buyers, Xiaomi 15 is a sensible model to investigate because Xiaomi includes it in its HyperOS 3 rollout information. That makes it a candidate, not a universal recommendation: verify the local variant, carrier bands, warranty, current software and the exact features available in your country before buying.

What “works with an iPhone” means in practice
A Xiaomi phone can exchange selected content with an iPhone, and Xiaomi describes additional connections with iPhone, iPad and Mac devices. Those functions are narrower than Apple’s integrated experience. The documented capabilities include sharing photos, videos, files, contacts, web pages and Wi-Fi passwords, connecting through a shared network or hotspot, locating a Xiaomi phone from an Apple device in supported situations, and using Home screen+ with an iPad. They do not establish complete transfer of messages, passwords, health records, application data or every Apple service.

Think of compatibility as a set of individual bridges. Each bridge has its own device, software, account and regional conditions. A Xiaomi phone may satisfy one bridge and not another, so a feature that matters to you should be checked separately rather than inferred from the phone’s brand or from a general “Apple connectivity” label.

Start with the task you need most
Write down the one or two things you want to do between the phones. Your answer determines which specifications and support notes matter.
If you mainly want nearby file or photo sharing
Focus on Touch to share and Xiaomi Share. This is the most specific cross-platform feature in Xiaomi’s current material, but it has strict prerequisites. Check both phones’ operating-system versions, the Interconnectivity app version, NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and your region.
If you want a wider set of cross-device functions
Check the broader Xiaomi Interconnectivity requirements for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Some functions require the same Xiaomi Account on the relevant devices and a shared network or hotspot. The available behavior can differ by app: an app window may be presented on another device in one case, while unlocking or control behavior may be unavailable in another.
If you want to replace an iPhone completely
Do not use Xiaomi’s sharing descriptions as proof of a full migration path. The documented pages do not promise transfer of iMessage history, passwords, health data, application data, Apple Watch relationships, AirPods behavior, iCloud services or Apple Pay. Treat those as separate migration questions and confirm each one with the relevant service documentation.
Check the Xiaomi phone before comparing cameras or prices
Model eligibility is the first filter. Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 global information lists supported models and warns that the list and timing can change. Xiaomi 15 appears in that rollout information, so it is a defensible starting point for investigation. Xiaomi’s earlier HyperOS 2 information identified Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Ultra as selected supported models at that time. The change between those pages illustrates why an older compatibility list cannot be used as a permanent guarantee.
A model appearing on a rollout page does not prove that every regional variant has received the update, that every listed function is enabled in your market, or that a phone sold locally has the same hardware. Before purchase, confirm all of the following for the exact model number:

- It appears in the current Xiaomi support information for the HyperOS generation required by your chosen feature.
- The phone has actually received the relevant update in your country, rather than merely being scheduled for one.
- The Xiaomi Interconnectivity app can be installed and updated on that regional software build.
- NFC, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi hardware are present and available to the software.
- Your carrier’s network bands, eSIM or SIM configuration, warranty coverage and local service arrangements match the exact variant.
There is no evidence here for a best-value Xiaomi model, a camera or performance ranking, a country-specific price, or a carrier-band comparison. Those factors must be checked locally after compatibility has narrowed the list.
Apple-device requirements you must verify
Xiaomi publishes two different requirement sets. Do not confuse the narrow Touch to share requirements with the broader connectivity requirements.

If your iPhone is older than iPhone 12, Touch to share is not an eligible purchase assumption even if other Xiaomi connectivity functions might be available. Likewise, an iPhone on an older iOS release may need an update before the feature can be tested.
How Touch to share works
Xiaomi describes Touch to share as touching devices to share photos, videos, files and Wi-Fi passwords with Apple devices. The description is promotional language from Xiaomi, not an Apple endorsement. The following procedure reflects the prerequisites Xiaomi specifies.
- Confirm the region. Xiaomi limits the documented Touch to share feature to overseas regions excluding Japan, Hong Kong and Macau. If the phone or account is configured for an excluded market, do not assume the feature will appear.
- Update the Xiaomi phone. Install HyperOS 3 or a later supported release on the exact Xiaomi model. A rollout listing is not the same as an installed update, so check the phone’s software-update screen.
- Update the iPhone. The iPhone must be an iPhone 12 or later on iOS 17 or later.
- Install or update Xiaomi Interconnectivity. Xiaomi specifies version 2.0.0 or later on the iPhone. Use the version available for your region and check that the app opens after installation.
- Turn on the radios. Enable NFC, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on both phones. A disabled radio can prevent discovery even when the operating-system versions are correct.
- Unlock both devices. Xiaomi’s requirement is that both phones are unlocked when you initiate the touch action.
- Attempt a small transfer first. Start with one photo or a small file. If that succeeds, test a video or a batch of files, because a successful single-item handshake does not establish that every content type or volume behaves identically.
- Test Wi-Fi sharing separately. Xiaomi documents Wi-Fi-password sharing from Xiaomi to iPhone. Do not infer that an iPhone can send its saved Wi-Fi password back to the Xiaomi phone through the same feature.
Touching the devices is not a substitute for meeting the requirements. An unsupported model, an old app, a locked screen, a disabled NFC setting or an excluded region can all prevent the interaction.
What broader Xiaomi Interconnectivity can and cannot tell you
Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 information describes connectivity with Apple devices running iOS or iPadOS 14 or later and Macs running macOS 12 or later, provided Xiaomi Interconnectivity 2.0.0 or later is installed on the Apple device. The page also says that some features require the same Xiaomi Account and that the Xiaomi phone, iPhone, iPad and Mac may need to be on the same network or hotspot.

Those conditions matter when you are evaluating a household with several Apple devices. An iPhone that meets the Touch to share requirements may still need account or network setup for another function. Conversely, an iPad or Mac that meets the broader operating-system requirement is not automatically eligible for every phone-to-phone sharing action.
Home screen+ and app windows
Xiaomi lists Home screen+ for supported cross-device scenarios, including use with an iPad. It also qualifies app-window behavior by app and device. A window appearing on another screen should not be interpreted as universal remote control, unrestricted app continuity or identical performance across all applications.
Locating and hotspot-related functions
The broader feature set includes scenarios such as locating the Xiaomi phone from an Apple device and connecting through a hotspot. These are distinct from Touch to share. Check the specific function’s account, network and device notes rather than treating one successful share as evidence that every cross-device tool is enabled.

Step 1: Define your Apple devices
Record the iPhone model and iOS version. If you also use an iPad or Mac, record their operating systems. This immediately tells you whether Touch to share is possible and whether the broader iOS, iPadOS or macOS requirements are met.
Step 2: Pick the feature, not the logo
Decide whether you need Touch to share, Wi-Fi-password sharing, file exchange, hotspot access, phone locating, Home screen+ or another documented function. A phone chosen for a single transfer task may have different requirements from one chosen for a multi-device setup.
Step 3: Check current Xiaomi support
Look at Xiaomi’s current HyperOS support information for the exact model and region. Confirm that the required software is available now and that the support list has not changed. Xiaomi’s own pages are the relevant authority for rollout status, but they can change after publication.

Step 4: Verify the local variant
Compare the model number on the seller’s listing with the model number supported in your market. Confirm network bands, SIM format, warranty and update policy. A global software description does not establish identical hardware or service terms in every country.

Check that Xiaomi Interconnectivity 2.0.0 or later is available for your iPhone and that you are willing to use a Xiaomi Account if the chosen feature requires one. If your devices normally use separate guest or work networks, verify whether a shared network or hotspot is practical.
Step 6: Evaluate ordinary phone priorities
Only after compatibility is established should you compare display, cameras, battery, charging, performance, storage, size and price. The supplied Xiaomi support information does not establish which model wins those categories, so use current local specifications and independent testing for that part of the decision.

Xiaomi 15 is worth investigating because Xiaomi names it in HyperOS 3 rollout information. That fact supports it as a candidate for buyers who need the documented HyperOS 3-era Apple connectivity, subject to the exact update and regional conditions.
It is not evidence that Xiaomi 15 is the best Xiaomi phone for every iPhone owner. The available material does not verify its current retail stock, local price, camera or performance position, carrier compatibility or warranty in any particular country. Before buying, check the local version and confirm that the feature you want is enabled for that version.
Xiaomi 15 Ultra was named among selected models in the earlier HyperOS 2 information, but that historical mention alone should not be used to infer current HyperOS 3 feature eligibility. Use the current support page for the version and function you intend to use.

Common failure points and fixes
The phones do not detect each other
- Verify that both devices are unlocked.
- Turn on NFC, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on both phones.
- Confirm HyperOS 3 or later on the Xiaomi phone.
- Confirm iPhone 12 or later and iOS 17 or later for Touch to share.
- Update Xiaomi Interconnectivity on the iPhone to version 2.0.0 or later.
- Check that you are outside the excluded Japan, Hong Kong and Macau regions.
Photo sharing works but another function does not
Different features have different support rules. Recheck whether the second function requires a Xiaomi Account, a shared network or hotspot, an iPad or Mac operating-system version, or a particular app and device combination.
Wi-Fi sharing only works one way
That behavior is consistent with Xiaomi’s documented direction: Wi-Fi-password sharing is supported from Xiaomi to iPhone. The available material does not establish iPhone-to-Xiaomi password sharing through Touch to share.
The phone appears on a rollout list but the feature is missing
Rollout timing can vary by region and software build. Install all available system and app updates, then recheck the current Xiaomi support information. A listed model is not a guarantee that every feature is active on every regional variant.

Xiaomi qualifies app-window behavior and cross-device unlocking by app and device. Test the specific application and consult its current support notes instead of generalizing from another app.
What this setup will not replace automatically
Sharing a file between phones is not the same as moving an entire digital life. Xiaomi’s documented feature descriptions do not establish automatic transfer of message history, saved passwords, health records, application data or all Apple services. They also do not establish that an Apple Watch, AirPods, iCloud-based workflows or Apple Pay will retain the same behavior after adding or replacing a phone.
Plan those items independently. Export or migrate data using the service’s own supported process, verify authentication and recovery methods before changing phones, and keep the iPhone available until essential accounts and records have been checked on the Xiaomi device.
A purchase checklist
- Identify the exact Xiaomi model and regional model number.
- Confirm current HyperOS eligibility for the feature you need.
- For Touch to share, verify HyperOS 3 or later, iPhone 12 or later, iOS 17 or later and Xiaomi Interconnectivity 2.0.0 or later.
- Confirm NFC, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on both phones.
- Check the Touch to share regional limitation, including the exclusion of Japan, Hong Kong and Macau.
- For broader features, verify iOS or iPadOS 14 or later, macOS 12 or later where relevant, the app version, Xiaomi Account needs and shared-network requirements.
- Confirm local carrier bands, SIM support, warranty and software-update availability.
- Decide how you will migrate messages, passwords, health data and other services that are not covered by Xiaomi’s sharing descriptions.
- Check current local stock and price only after the compatibility checks pass.
Bottom line
A Xiaomi phone can work alongside an iPhone, but the relationship is selective rather than equivalent to Apple’s integrated ecosystem. Choose the exact Xiaomi model and software build that support your priority task, verify the iPhone and regional prerequisites, and treat Xiaomi 15 as a model to investigate—not as a guaranteed universal answer. If your requirement is complete iPhone-service continuity or a one-step migration of every account and data type, the documented Xiaomi features do not establish that outcome.
