Start with the model number on your Fios router, then match the extender to it. Verizon lists the E3200 and CE1000A for the G3100 and CR1000A/B; the E3200 needs a wired Ethernet or coax connection when paired with a CR1000A/B. Before buying, use Verizon’s Wi-Fi Analyzer to find the weak-signal area and test a sensible placement for any existing equipment.
Check your Fios router model first
Find the model on the router’s label or in its settings. Compatibility is model-specific: Verizon warns that E3200 features may not work as designed with other routers, including features such as SON. Its published compatibility information names the G3100 and CR1000A/B for the E3200 and CE1000A.

Compare the Verizon extender options
| Extender | Routers named by Verizon | Backhaul and relevant details |
|---|---|---|
| E3200 | G3100; CR1000A/B | With a G3100, it can connect wirelessly or by Ethernet/coax. With CR1000A/B, it requires wired Ethernet or coax; Verizon says connected client devices are limited to speeds up to 1 Gbps in this pairing. Verizon describes it as Wi-Fi 6 and tri-band. |
| CE1000A | G3100; CR1000A/B | Verizon describes Wi-Fi 6/6E support, switchable 5 GHz/6 GHz backhaul, Ethernet, and MoCA 2.5. The published feature claims do not establish that it outperforms the E3200 in every home. |
| WCB6200Q or WCB3000N | Legacy models; verify the exact router pairing with Verizon | Verizon documents Ethernet or coax connections. The WCB3000N does not support 802.11ac; check compatibility, condition, and whether its capabilities suit your devices before buying. |

Decide whether you can provide wired backhaul
Backhaul is the connection between the router and extender. If you have a CR1000A or CR1000B and want an E3200, plan for Ethernet or coax between the devices: Verizon does not support wireless pairing for that combination. With a G3100 and E3200, Verizon describes both wired and wireless pairing. The CE1000A page lists Ethernet and MoCA 2.5, but confirm the connection requirements for your setup before purchase.

- 𝐃𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 - Please note that all Wireless Extenders are designed to improve WiFi coverage and not increase speeds. Actual speeds will be 50% or less from current speeds. However, improving signal reliability can boost overall performance.
Do not assume coax automatically means you need a separate adapter. Check which coax outlets are connected and what equipment your installation requires. Verizon’s setup and product pages describe the E3200’s available wired connections and pairing options: E3200 setup and pairing and E3200 support.
Find a useful location before you buy
- Open My Verizon and use the Wi-Fi Analyzer to identify where signal is weak.
- Place the extender between the router and the weak area, rather than at the far edge of coverage. Keep it upright and, where practical, in a central, higher location.
- Test the connection in the problem area and adjust the extender position. Concrete or brick, large metal objects, moisture, cordless phones, and microwaves can interfere with coverage; avoid excessive dust and extreme temperatures.
- If you are pairing an E3200, use its light as a placement cue: a fast-blinking yellow light means move it farther from the router; a slow-blinking yellow light means move it closer.
Verizon notes that finding the best location may take experimentation. See its E3200 FAQs and Whole-Home Wi-Fi FAQs for placement guidance.

Check existing equipment and Verizon service options
If an extender is already installed, identify its model before replacing it. Verizon documents older WCB6200Q and WCB3000N units; their age alone does not establish that replacement is necessary, but the WCB3000N lacks 802.11ac. Verify the model’s compatibility and capabilities against your router and needs.

- G3100: E3200 is an option with wired or wireless pairing; CE1000A is also listed as compatible.
- CR1000A/B: E3200 requires wired Ethernet or coax; CE1000A is also listed as compatible.
- Another router model: Do not assume either device will work as intended. Confirm compatibility with Verizon for the exact model.
- Unclear coverage problem: Try analyzer-guided repositioning first, and ask Verizon about service eligibility if troubleshooting does not resolve it.
