The right VPN for North Macedonia depends on what you need: a North Macedonian IP address while abroad, or a VPN connection from inside the country to an overseas location. NordVPN and Proton VPN list North Macedonia endpoints, but provider listings do not prove where the hardware sits or how fast it will be on your connection. No independent North Macedonia speed comparison is established here, so there is no evidence-based fastest provider or universal winner.
Start with the IP address you need
A VPN routes your traffic through a chosen endpoint, so the endpoint’s country determines the public IP address presented to websites. If you are abroad and need a North Macedonian IP, you need a provider that currently offers a North Macedonia endpoint. If you are in North Macedonia and want an overseas IP, choose a server in the country whose services or content you need. A local endpoint is not automatically the best choice for every use, and a provider’s country listing does not predict the fastest route from your network.

What the provider listings establish
The following points describe what providers say on their own pages, not independent local performance tests. Endpoint availability can change, so check the live server directory or app before subscribing.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute| Provider | What its published information says | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| NordVPN | Its directory lists North Macedonia as one city, distinguishes physical and virtual locations, and documents NordLynx, NordWhisper, IKEv2/IPsec, and OpenVPN options. NordVPN server directory | Check the current endpoint type and test latency from your own network; a listing alone does not establish local hardware placement or speed. |
| Proton VPN | It advertises servers in North Macedonia, support for major platforms, WireGuard, open-source apps, and commissioned audits. Its stated 10Gbps server connection capacity is a provider specification, not expected user throughput. Proton VPN server information | Check the current endpoint and app support for your devices. Its speed, streaming, and security statements are vendor claims, not comparative local test findings. |
| ExpressVPN | It says its Macedonia virtual servers have 10Gbps capacity and makes privacy and ISP-throttling claims. ExpressVPN server information | Verify that the virtual location meets your needs; the capacity and performance claims do not establish the speed you will experience. |
| Windscribe | Its North Macedonia page makes claims about service, encryption, its server network, and legality. Windscribe North Macedonia page | Confirm current endpoint details. Its statement about legality is provider-authored, not an official legal determination. |
| Private Internet Access | Its page advertises North Macedonia servers, a no-logs policy, and a 30-day refund guarantee. Private Internet Access North Macedonia page | Confirm the current endpoint, policy details, and refund terms before paying. No independent local test is established here. |
Check whether the location is physical or virtual
A North Macedonia IP address and a server physically housed in North Macedonia are not the same thing. A virtual location can assign an IP associated with a country while the underlying server hardware is elsewhere. NordVPN’s directory distinguishes physical from virtual locations; ExpressVPN describes its Macedonia servers as virtual. If physical placement matters for your use, inspect the provider’s current location details rather than relying on the country name alone.

How to assess speed and reliability
There are no independent comparative speed figures for VPN connections from North Macedonia established here. Provider claims about server capacity, speed, or streaming do not show the throughput a particular person will get. A nearby endpoint may reduce distance, but congestion, the ISP route, device, protocol, and time of day also affect results.
- Check that the provider lists the country and endpoint you need in its current app or directory.
- Use a trial or refund period only after reading its current conditions, if one is offered.
- Test the same task with the VPN off and on—for example, a video call or a download—at the times you normally use it.
- Try another available server or protocol if the connection is slow or unstable, then compare the result on your own network.
Do not treat a stated 10Gbps server connection as a promise of 10Gbps service to your device. It describes provider-reported capacity, not a user speed test.

Evaluate privacy evidence, not just privacy slogans
A VPN changes which network operator can see parts of your connection; it does not make you anonymous or stop all tracking. Review what the provider says it logs, how its apps handle connection data, and whether independent audits cover the claims that matter to you.

What local rules and country indicators do—and do not—show
North Macedonia’s Agency for Personal Data Protection includes VPN connections in a rulebook control for remote access in a defined remote-maintenance context: “remote maintenance must be performed via VPN.” That is a requirement within the specified security-control setting, not a blanket legal conclusion about every consumer VPN use. A practical shortlist checklist
- Endpoint fit: The service currently offers the country and type of exit location you need.
- Physical placement: Confirm whether the endpoint is virtual or physical if that distinction matters to you.
- Device and protocol support: Check that your devices and preferred connection options are supported.
- Privacy verification: Look for independent evidence, noting its date, scope, and what it actually tested.
- Real-world performance: Test from your own network; no provider can establish your local result with a capacity figure alone.
- Total cost and terms: Review the current subscription price, renewal amount, refund conditions, and offer terms before checkout; current prices and promotions are not established here.
Choosing without a false “best” claim
If a North Macedonian IP is your priority, begin by checking current local endpoint availability and whether its virtual or physical status suits your needs. If privacy evidence is central, compare the scope and dates of independent audits rather than relying on provider slogans. If you mainly need speed or streaming, test the service from your own connection: the available independent testing described here is not specific to North Macedonia. These criteria can narrow the choice, but the evidence does not support naming one provider the fastest, most private, or best overall for every reader.
