Measure the space around the knob
Compare the knob’s diameter, height and hub dimensions with the space available. Check that the operator can reach and turn it, and that the lobes will not strike adjacent parts throughout the adjustment range. The stud or insert length may also matter to the mounting depth.
Choose material for the operating environment
Catalogs offer options including technopolymer, soft-touch polymer and phenolic. Material and surface affect feel and may matter for the equipment’s environment, but the catalog examples do not establish that one material is suitable for every temperature, chemical exposure or cleaning regime.
