Make a shortlist of films, compare where each is available, and distinguish subscription access from rentals and purchases before choosing.
Which streaming service has the movies I actually want to watch?
There is no universal winner: catalogs vary by country and change over time, and viewers want different films. Compare services against your own watchlist rather than relying on brand reputation or a library-size claim. A title appearing in a search result may also be available only to rent or buy, not included with a subscription.

How to compare services against your movie tastes
- Build a shortlist. Write down a handful of movies you genuinely want to watch or rewatch. Add a few examples that represent your taste—such as favorite genres, eras, countries, directors, or studios—so the comparison reflects more than one narrow set of titles.
- Search a multi-service guide. For US availability, JustWatch’s US movie guide lets you filter by service and price, including a free option. It lists providers such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu, Max, Apple TV+, Peacock, Crunchyroll, fuboTV, and Paramount+. Use it to discover possibilities, not as a guarantee that every listing is complete or current.
- Count the titles included with a subscription. For each candidate service, note how many of your shortlist films are included in its subscription. Keep free-with-ads access, rental, and purchase offers separate; those options do not provide the same value as a film included in the plan.
- Check taste and discovery filters. JustWatch offers filters for release year, genre, rating, production country, runtime, and age rating, in addition to service and price. These can help when your list is small but you know the kinds of films you tend to seek out. A guide can narrow the search; it cannot decide how much a particular genre or filmmaker matters to you.
- Compare current cost and plan terms in your market. Once you know which services match, check their current price and plan conditions directly with the provider. Costs, catalog details, and offers vary by country and can change; this US-focused guide does not establish prices for your location.
- Verify must-watch films with the provider. Before subscribing, check decisive titles on the service’s own catalog or search page. Hulu’s Help Center guidance on browsing its library and titles coming and going is one provider-side example. Recheck a film shortly before you intend to watch it.
How to weigh the comparison
| What to compare | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Shortlist matches | Prioritize the movies you most want to watch that are included with the subscription. |
| Offer type | Separate subscription-included films from free, rental, or purchase options. |
| Cost and terms | Check the current local price and plan conditions directly with each provider before signing up. |
| Taste fit | Look for a pattern across genres, release years, production countries, directors, or studios that matter to you. |
| Ease of finding films | Consider whether the service’s own search and browsing tools make it practical to find the kinds of films you want. |
A service with fewer matches can still be the better choice if those matches are your priorities; a larger apparent selection is not automatically more useful. JustWatch partner documentation describes its own tracked data as covering availability information for up to 250,000 movies and 60,000 TV shows, across more than 3,900 local provider catalogs and more than 500 unique providers in over 100 countries. Those are figures about JustWatch’s data coverage, not a ranking of services or proof that any individual listing is perfect. The documentation says, “Fresh data: daily updates for all available streaming services.” JustWatch partner documentation, accessed October 4, 2026.
Why you should recheck before watching
Streaming catalogs move: a film available when you compare plans may no longer be there later. JustWatch says its availability data is updated daily, while Hulu points users to information about content coming and going. For broader context on tracking title availability and historical changes, Reelgood for Business describes availability tracking for businesses; it does not rank consumer services. Treat any guide as a useful snapshot, then verify the films that matter most with the provider.

When to reconsider your choice
Your viewing priorities can shift: a service that suits a month of new releases may not suit a later stretch focused on older films or a particular genre. When considering rotating subscriptions, first recheck the catalog, current plan conditions, and cancellation details on the provider’s site. Do not assume a past price or availability listing still applies.

The JustWatch example and Hulu provider guidance above are US-specific. A US listing does not establish that the same film or plan is available elsewhere. Search for your country in a multi-service guide, and confirm both the title and plan with the local provider before paying.
