The best small computer mouse is the one whose dimensions and shape match your hand—not necessarily the model with “mini” or “compact” in its name. For a very slim travel setup, the Logitech Pebble Mouse 2 M350s is the smaller-footprint option. For someone who finds flat mice cramped, the Logitech MX Anywhere 3S offers a wider, taller and heavier compact shape. Neither is a universal winner: measure your hand, identify your grip and compare the published dimensions before buying.
Why a “small” mouse can still feel wrong
Mouse size is not a standardized fit category. A product described as small may be short but relatively wide, or low enough to pack easily but too flat to support your palm. Two mice with similar lengths can feel completely different because of their width, height, side contours and the way your fingers rest on the buttons.

That is why a portable mouse can be convenient in a laptop bag yet uncomfortable during a full workday. If your hand is medium or large, a very low profile may leave your palm floating behind the shell. If your hand is small, a wider or taller compact mouse may force your fingers to stretch around the body. Treat the word “small” as a portability clue, not as proof of fit.
Measure your hand before comparing models
Use the crease-to-fingertip measurement
Logitech’s sizing guidance starts with hand length: measure from the crease below your palm to the tip of your middle finger. Use a ruler or tape measure, keep your hand relaxed and record the result in millimeters or centimeters. This gives you a repeatable reference when comparing a mouse’s published length.
#1 Best Overall
- Compact Mouse: With a comfortable and contoured shape, this Logitech ambidextrous wireless mouse feels great in either right or left hand and is far superior to a touchpad
- Durable and Reliable: This USB wireless mouse features a line-by-line scroll wheel, up to 1 year of battery life (2) thanks to a smart sleep mode function, and comes with the included AA battery
- Universal Compatibility: Your Logitech mouse works with your Windows PC, Mac, or laptop, so no matter what type of computer you own today or buy tomorrow your mouse will be compatible
- Plug and Play Simplicity: Just plug in the tiny nano USB receiver and start working in seconds with a strong, reliable connection to your wireless computer mouse up to 33 feet / 10 m (5)
- Better than touchpad: Get more done by adding M185 to your laptop; according to a recent study, laptop users who chose this mouse over a touchpad were 50% more productive (3) and worked 30% faster (4)
The measurement is a starting point rather than a pass/fail formula. Hand proportions vary. Two people with the same length can have different palm widths, finger lengths or preferred grips, so do not select a mouse from length alone.
Compare width and height as well as length
For smaller hands, Logitech recommends considering a smaller width, length and height. Width affects how far your thumb and little finger must reach around the shell. Height changes how much the mouse fills your palm and whether your wrist rests on a raised hump or a nearly flat surface. Length determines where your fingers land relative to the front edge.
If you have a medium or large hand and a flat mouse feels cramped, look first at width and height rather than searching only for a longer model. The MX Anywhere 3S illustrates why: it is shorter than the Pebble Mouse 2 M350s but has more width and substantially more height, creating a more substantial compact profile.

Identify your usual grip
- Palm grip: Your palm rests on the shell and your fingers lie relatively flat. A taller body and a longer contact area may feel more supportive, while an ultra-flat travel shape can leave part of your palm unsupported.
- Claw grip: Your palm touches lightly and your fingers arch over the buttons. Height and button position can matter more than total length, because a tall rear hump may change the angle of your fingers.
- Fingertip grip: Your palm stays off the mouse and your fingertips steer it. A short, light body can be easier to reposition, but a very narrow shell may feel less stable if your fingers extend beyond the sides.
These descriptions are decision tools, not guarantees. The same mouse can feel supportive to one person and too flat or too bulky to another. If you switch grips during the day, prioritize a shape that does not force one posture.
Published specifications at a glance
| Model | Published dimensions (length × width × height) | Published weight | Shape and positioning | Connection |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Logitech Pebble Mouse 2 M350s | 106.7 × 58.7 × 26.62 mm | 53 g, without receiver and battery | Slim, compact, low-profile design | Bluetooth Low Energy; compatible with a Logi Bolt receiver, which is not included |
| Logitech MX Anywhere 3S | 100.5 × 65 × 34.4 mm | 85 g, without battery | Compact wireless performance mouse; more substantial body | Bluetooth Low Energy and Logi Bolt receiver support; MagSpeed scrolling |
The measurements come from the manufacturers’ published specifications and use different weight exclusions: the Pebble figure excludes its receiver and battery, while the MX Anywhere 3S figure excludes its battery. Do not treat the numbers as a laboratory comparison of complete, ready-to-use setups.
Logitech Pebble Mouse 2 M350s: the low-profile travel choice
Why it suits a small footprint
The Pebble Mouse 2 M350s is the slimmer and lighter of these two examples. Its low-profile body takes less vertical space in a bag and is aimed at people who want a simple compact Bluetooth mouse for a laptop or travel kit. If your priorities are minimal bulk, low carry weight and a mouse that can slide beside a notebook, its proportions make that use case clear.

- Pair and Play: With fast, easy Bluetooth wireless technology, you’re connected in seconds to this quiet cordless mouse —no dongle or port required
- Less Noise, More Focus: Silent mouse with 90% reduced click sound and the same click feel, eliminating noise and distractions for you and others around you (1)
- Long-Lasting Battery Life: Up to 18-month battery life with an energy-efficient auto sleep feature, so you can go longer between battery changes (2)
- Comfortable, Travel-Friendly Design: Small enough to toss in a bag; this slim and ambidextrous portable compact mouse guides either your right or left hand into a natural position
- Long-Range: Reliable, long-range Bluetooth wireless mouse works up to 10m/33 feet away from your computer (3)
Its 53-gram published weight is stated without the receiver and battery, so the complete carried setup will weigh more once those items are added. That distinction matters when you are trying to minimize every item in a travel pouch.
What to check before choosing it
The same flatness that helps portability can reduce palm support. If your hand is medium or large, or if you normally use a palm grip, place particular emphasis on the 26.62 mm published height and the 58.7 mm width. Those dimensions may feel deliberately low and narrow compared with a fuller compact mouse. A fingertip or light claw grip may align more naturally with the shape, but only your own hand and posture can confirm that.
Do not assume that a low-profile shape is automatically more comfortable for long sessions. Portability and support are separate goals. If you expect to work for many hours at a desk, compare the Pebble’s profile with the height and width you already find comfortable rather than choosing solely because it is easy to pack.
Receiver detail that can change your setup
The Pebble supports Bluetooth Low Energy and is compatible with a Logi Bolt receiver, but the receiver is not included. Bluetooth can keep a laptop setup free of a USB accessory; a separately purchased compatible receiver can be useful if you need a receiver-based connection on another computer. Account for that extra hardware and its port requirements when planning a travel kit.
Logitech MX Anywhere 3S: a more substantial compact alternative
Why it may suit larger hands
The MX Anywhere 3S is positioned as a compact wireless performance mouse rather than an ultra-flat travel mouse. It is 65 mm wide and 34.4 mm high in the published specifications, giving it a fuller cross-section than the Pebble. It is also listed at 85 g without its battery. Those differences can make it a better starting point for someone who found a small, flat mouse too cramped, even though its overall length is slightly shorter.

A higher body can give a palm-grip user more surface to rest against, while the added width can reduce the feeling that your fingers are hanging over the sides. That is a shape preference, not a promise of comfort; test the contour and button reach if possible.

Trade-offs for travel
The MX Anywhere 3S occupies more vertical and lateral space in a pouch and weighs more in the stated configuration. If your main goal is the smallest possible carry, those differences work against it. If your laptop is your primary computer and you value a more substantial hand feel, the additional bulk may be a worthwhile trade-off.
Its published positioning also includes MagSpeed scrolling. That is a feature distinction from the Pebble in this comparison, but the available specifications do not establish how the scrolling experience compares in a particular application or workflow. Choose it for the combination of shape, connection options and controls you actually need, not for a performance claim that has not been independently tested here.
Connection options
The MX Anywhere 3S supports Bluetooth Low Energy and a Logi Bolt receiver. The available product information confirms receiver support but does not establish regional package contents, so verify what is included with the specific listing you are considering. If you plan to move between a Bluetooth laptop and a receiver-equipped desktop, this dual-path support can simplify that arrangement.
Flat travel mouse or substantial compact mouse?
These models represent two different interpretations of “small.” The Pebble prioritizes a thin, low-profile body and low stated weight. The MX Anywhere 3S stays compact in length but adds width, height and weight for a more substantial shape. Neither approach is inherently better.
| If your priority is… | Direction to investigate | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| The least bulk in a laptop bag | Pebble Mouse 2 M350s | Its published body is thinner and its stated weight is lower, with the weight excluding receiver and battery. |
| A compact mouse that does not feel as flat | MX Anywhere 3S | Its published width and height are greater, giving it a fuller profile despite its shorter length. |
| Bluetooth without carrying a receiver | Either, subject to your computer’s compatibility | Both support Bluetooth Low Energy; check the current operating-system and model requirements for your computer. |
| A receiver-based option | MX Anywhere 3S, or Pebble with a separately purchased compatible receiver | The MX supports a Logi Bolt receiver; the Pebble is compatible with one but does not include it. |
The table is a decision map, not a ranking. Your hand dimensions and grip should override a portability preference when the mouse will be used for hours at a time.
Bluetooth, receivers and a MacBook setup
Bluetooth Low Energy
Both mice support Bluetooth Low Energy, so each can be considered for a laptop setup without occupying a USB port. You still need to confirm the current operating-system requirements and Mac compatibility for the exact model and regional version you buy; the available product information does not establish a model-by-model Mac compatibility matrix.

When pairing, follow the mouse’s current instructions for entering pairing mode, then select it in your computer’s Bluetooth settings. If the computer does not display the mouse, check that the mouse is powered, that it is not already connected to another nearby device and that Bluetooth is enabled. The exact pairing control and on-screen labels can vary by model and operating-system release, so use the current manual for the button sequence.

1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsLogi Bolt receiver support
A receiver can be useful on a computer where Bluetooth is unavailable, restricted or already heavily occupied. It also keeps the connection path consistent across machines that use the same receiver ecosystem. For the Pebble, remember that the compatible receiver is an additional purchase; it is not part of the stated package. For the MX Anywhere 3S, verify the listing’s contents before assuming a receiver is in the box.
Choose the connection before packing
- List the computers you will actually use, including your laptop and any desktop or shared workstation.
- Mark which machines can use Bluetooth Low Energy and which require a USB receiver.
- Decide whether carrying a receiver is acceptable or whether Bluetooth-only travel is more important.
- Check available USB ports and any adapter you would need for a receiver before ordering accessories.
- Pair or test the mouse at home, rather than discovering a connection issue during a trip.
A practical fit-check procedure
Use this process when product photos and the word “compact” are not enough.
- Measure your hand. Record the crease-below-palm-to-middle-fingertip length recommended by Logitech. Also note whether your palm is narrow, average or broad relative to your fingers.
- Write down your grip. Identify whether you normally use palm, claw or fingertip control. If you alternate, note which grip you use for long documents and which you use for precision work.
- Compare all three dimensions. Look at length, width and height together. A short mouse can still be wide and tall; a long mouse can still be too flat for your palm.
- Check finger reach. Imagine where your index and middle fingers will land on the primary buttons and whether your thumb can rest on the side without squeezing.
- Check palm contact. For a palm grip, look for enough rear height and length to support your hand. For fingertip use, make sure the body will not feel unstable when your palm stays lifted.
- Separate carry needs from desk needs. If you travel often but work at a desk for most of the day, decide whether thinness or sustained hand support deserves priority.
- Try the shape when possible. A store display, returnable purchase or loan from someone with a similar grip can answer questions that dimensions cannot. This is a fit check, not a claim that one model is objectively more comfortable.
Which one fits common buying situations?
You want the smallest practical travel setup
Start with the Pebble Mouse 2 M350s. Its published profile is slim and its stated weight is lower, making it the more obvious candidate when bag space and carry weight dominate. Confirm that a low shell suits your hand before committing to it for long sessions.
You have a medium or large hand and dislike flat mice
Start with the MX Anywhere 3S. Its greater width and height provide a more substantial compact shape than the Pebble, while its length remains in the compact range. Compare the added bulk with your travel needs and verify the grip in person if you can.
You need Bluetooth for a laptop but may use a receiver elsewhere
Either model can fit that plan because both support Bluetooth Low Energy. The MX Anywhere 3S supports a Logi Bolt receiver, while the Pebble requires a separately purchased compatible receiver. Check package contents, USB requirements and the current compatibility information for each computer.

You are replacing a mouse that feels uncomfortable
Do not copy the same nominal size. Measure your hand, identify what felt wrong—too narrow, too short, too low or too heavy—and choose the next model by that specific dimension. Someone else’s recommendation, including a single discussion post asking for a medium-to-large Bluetooth mouse, describes an individual preference rather than a representative buying result.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Relying on the label “compact”
“Compact” describes positioning, not a universal shape standard. Read the dimensions and compare them with a mouse you already know. A product can be compact in length while still being relatively wide or tall.
Ignoring the weight qualification
Published weights may exclude batteries or receivers. The Pebble’s 53 g figure excludes both; the MX Anywhere 3S’s 85 g figure excludes its battery. If carry weight matters, estimate the complete setup rather than treating either number as the travel-ready total.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Assuming Bluetooth removes every compatibility question
Bluetooth Low Energy support does not replace checking the current operating-system requirements, pairing procedure and regional model details. Confirm those items for the computer you will use.
Buying a receiver without checking the ecosystem
A receiver must be compatible with the mouse and physically usable with your computer. The Pebble’s compatible Logi Bolt receiver is not included. Verify the specific MX Anywhere 3S package before assuming its receiver is supplied.
Equating lightness with comfort
A lighter mouse can be easier to carry, but comfort also depends on width, height, contour and grip. If a low-profile body makes your hand tense, saving a few grams may not solve the underlying fit problem.
Questions to answer before ordering
- What is my hand length from the palm crease to the middle-finger tip?
- Do I use a palm, claw or fingertip grip most of the time?
- Would a low-profile body support my palm, or would a taller shell feel more natural?
- Is the mouse’s width appropriate for my palm, not just its length?
- Will I use Bluetooth Low Energy, a Logi Bolt receiver or both?
- If I choose the Pebble, have I accounted for the separately purchased receiver if I need one?
- Have I checked the current Mac and operating-system requirements for the exact listing?
- Can I try the shape or use a return option if the dimensions feel wrong?
Bottom line: choose by hand fit, then portability
The Pebble Mouse 2 M350s is the better starting point when a slim, light and easily packed body matters most. The MX Anywhere 3S is the better starting point when you want a compact mouse with more width and height, especially after finding flat travel mice uncomfortable. Compare the published dimensions with your hand measurement and grip, confirm the Bluetooth or receiver plan, and treat any recommendation as a fit hypothesis rather than a universal verdict.
