Samsung’s US lineup includes conventional Galaxy S phones, foldable Galaxy Z models, and value-oriented Galaxy A phones; no single model is right for every budget, size preference, camera need, or support-life expectation.
Start with the phone you want to carry
Decide whether you want a conventional phone or a foldable before comparing model numbers. Galaxy S and Galaxy A are conventional designs; Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip are foldables. A Fold-style design prioritizes a larger unfolded screen, while a Flip-style design folds into a more compact form. The trade-off is that foldable use and pocketability differ from a conventional slab phone, so handle the device if possible and consider how often you would use its distinctive form.

Samsung’s US catalog includes the Galaxy S26 Ultra, S26, and S26 FE in the S family; Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Flip8 among foldables; and Galaxy A57 5G, A37 5G, A27 5G, and A17 5G among A models. These are US listings, not a promise that the same model names, configurations, or availability apply elsewhere. Check Samsung’s US phone catalog and confirm local availability if you are outside the United States.
Set your budget using the final price
Choose a maximum amount you are willing to pay, then compare the checkout price rather than relying on a headline starting price. Samsung’s US comparison lists the following starting prices before eligible trade-in:

|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S26 FE | $699.99 | Starting price before eligible trade-in; promotions, storage, and seller can affect the final price. |
| Galaxy S25 FE | $649.99 | Starting price before eligible trade-in; promotions, storage, and seller can affect the final price. |
| Galaxy A57 5G | $549.99 | Starting price before eligible trade-in; promotions, storage, and seller can affect the final price. |
These are Samsung-published US figures from 2026, not guaranteed prices at checkout. Check the live offer, storage configuration, trade-in eligibility, and seller before deciding. A discounted older model may be a better fit than a newer one if it meets your needs, but compare its exact specifications and support terms rather than assuming that model age alone settles the question. See Samsung’s comparison and verify current model details.
Choose features you will actually use
Screen size and display
A large display can make video, reading, and multitasking more comfortable, but it can also make one-handed use harder. The three models in Samsung’s comparison below all have a 6.7-inch display, yet their display descriptions differ. Compare display type and resolution on the specific model page, and consider the phone’s overall dimensions and weight as well as its screen diagonal.

Cameras: compare lenses and use, not just megapixels
Check which camera types are included and whether you need ultra-wide framing, optical telephoto reach, or a close-up option. In Samsung’s listed specifications, the S26 FE and S25 FE include wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto cameras; the A57 5G lists wide, ultra-wide, and macro cameras instead. Their headline resolutions do not prove which phone takes better photos. The cited specifications are not independent camera tests, so they cannot establish real-world image quality or low-light performance.

Performance, storage, and battery
Think about your everyday workload: messaging and browsing, demanding games, frequent photo or video capture, or switching among several apps. Processor names can help distinguish configurations on paper, but the cited comparison does not measure real-world speed. Select enough storage for the apps and media you keep locally, and check the exact storage option and price before checkout. Battery capacity is also a specification, not a runtime result; charging speed and actual battery life should be checked for the exact model rather than inferred from capacity alone.

Check how long the phone will be supported
Software support matters if you plan to keep a phone for several years. Samsung says the Galaxy S26 FE receives up to seven major Android OS upgrades and up to seven years of security patches. That is a model-specific statement; do not assume the same schedule for another Galaxy phone. Check the support terms for the exact model you are considering, and read “up to” as Samsung’s stated maximum rather than a guarantee of identical timing for every device or market. Samsung’s S26 FE comparison page provides the cited support statement.

Check regional and carrier fit before ordering
Samsung’s catalog and comparison figures cited here are US-specific. If you are buying elsewhere, verify that the local model supports your carrier’s network bands and services, and check local warranty coverage, configuration, price, and availability. Model names and specifications can vary by country. For a carrier purchase, confirm compatibility with the carrier rather than relying only on a product name that appears similar.

A practical shortlist
- Set a ceiling. Decide the maximum checkout price, including the storage configuration you want; treat trade-in or promotional savings as conditional until confirmed.
- Pick the design. Choose conventional Galaxy S or A, or a Galaxy Z Fold or Flip, based on whether a foldable form solves a real need for you.
- Rank your priorities. Put screen size, camera lens types, performance, storage, battery, and support life in order of importance.
- Compare exact models. Use manufacturer specifications to check features, but do not treat listed megapixels, processor names, or battery capacity as independent performance results.
- Verify the purchase details. Confirm local model, carrier compatibility, warranty, current price, storage, and support terms before paying.
