Samsung lists the Galaxy S6 at 143.4 × 70.5 × 6.8 mm and the Galaxy S6 Edge at 142.1 × 70.1 × 7.0 mm; a pouch needs to accommodate the phone’s full size and any added case thickness.
Start with the phone’s actual dimensions
Samsung’s 2015 specifications give the Galaxy S6 dimensions as 143.4 × 70.5 × 6.8 mm and the Galaxy S6 Edge as 142.1 × 70.1 × 7.0 mm. Both have a 5.1-inch display. Check the exact model before comparing it with an armband listing: the phones are close in size, but they are not identical. Samsung’s launch specifications provide the figures.

A screen-size label alone cannot confirm fit. Two phones with the same diagonal display measurement can have different overall dimensions, and a protective case adds bulk. Compare the listing’s usable internal pouch measurements with the handset, accounting for the case you intend to use. This is a practical sizing check, not a compatibility guarantee from Samsung.
Check the pouch and case fit
Compare usable internal measurements
Look for the pouch’s internal length, width, and, where provided, depth. The measurements should leave room to insert and remove the phone without forcing it into the pouch. If a listing gives only an external measurement or a broad screen-size range, ask the seller for internal dimensions rather than assuming the phone will fit.

Account for your protective case
If you keep a case on while running, use the dimensions of the cased phone for your comparison. A fit advertised for a bare handset does not establish case compatibility. If the listing does not say whether a case fits, confirm with the seller or check its current return terms before buying.
Consider screen access on the S6 Edge
Samsung describes the Galaxy S6 Edge as having a dual-curved display in its design article. If you want to view or operate the screen through a pouch, check the product details for how its window is shaped and whether touch operation is supported. The curved screen is a reason to verify the specific pouch design—not evidence that every armband will interfere with or protect the edges.

Check access, retention, and comfort
- Screen and controls: Decide whether you need to view or use the touchscreen while running, and whether you need access to buttons or ports. Confirm those functions in the product listing; they are not established by the phone’s display size.
- Retention: Look for a closure that keeps the phone enclosed during movement. Product photos and a general compatibility claim alone do not demonstrate secure retention.
- Arm fit: Check the band’s adjustment range and how it closes, then compare that range with your arm. Comfort and stability depend on both the band and the way it is worn.
Use a listing-by-listing checklist
- Confirm that the listing names the Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge, or provides internal measurements you can compare with the phone.
