If you want several games in one purchase, the two-volume Psikyo Shooting Library collections make that choice straightforward: Vol. 1 centers on the Strikers games, while Vol. 2 groups Samurai Aces and other Sengoku-era titles with the Gunbird games.
Which Psikyo shooter should you play first?
Use theme as your first filter. Strikers 1945 is an aircraft-focused vertical shooter; Samurai Aces is the Japanese title for Sengoku Ace, the historical-fantasy side of Psikyo’s catalog. The publisher’s collection listings document these as different series and show how they are grouped in the available multi-game libraries (Psikyo Shooting Library).

Choose Strikers 1945 for aircraft combat
The original Strikers 1945 first appeared in arcades in 1995, according to Psikyo’s 2020 announcement. Its Steam feature list for the edition discussed there includes six selectable fighters, adjustable difficulty, screen orientation, lives and continues, plus Score Attack and online rankings (Psikyo’s 2020 announcement). Those details describe that edition; they should not be treated as a promise that every port has identical options.
Choose Samurai Aces for the Sengoku setting
Samurai Aces is sold in Japan as Sengoku Ace. Its related line includes Tengai (also known as Sengoku Blade) and Sengoku Cannon. If the setting appeals to you more than aircraft combat, the Vol. 2 grouping is the natural place to start rather than buying a Strikers-focused collection.

Should you buy a collection or an individual game?
Choose a collection if you want breadth
A library volume gives you six titles and makes the theme-based choice useful without requiring you to pick just one game. Vol. 1 is the clear collection match for Strikers 1945; Vol. 2 is the match for Samurai Aces and its Sengoku sequels. Nintendo’s listing for Psikyo Shooting Stars Bravo describes the same six-game set as Vol. 2 and notes vertical Tate mode (Nintendo: Psikyo Shooting Stars Bravo).

What changes between platforms and editions?
The documented physical PlayStation 4 collections use the same Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 game split as the Switch volumes. Psikyo lists their releases as June 30, 2022 and July 28, 2022, respectively, and says there is no PS4 download edition of the library as a compilation; individual games are handled separately. Check the retailer’s region, language and edition details, as well as current stock (Psikyo Shooting Library).
For Strikers 1945 on Steam, distinguish between listings rather than assuming one continuous edition history. Psikyo’s 2020 announcement describes a version based on the 2017 Switch release, with added Score Attack, online rankings and Steam achievements. A separate Steam listing names Zerodiv as developer, KMBOX as publisher and December 30, 2025 as its release date; it also lists local two-player play (Steam: STRIKERS 1945). Compare the live listing and its features before buying.
Is Strikers 1945 still available on Steam?
Availability needs a current storefront check. Psikyo announced that Steam sales of a group of older licensed titles would end on October 31, 2025; the notice said existing owners would retain access and sales on other platforms would continue (Psikyo’s Steam sales notice). The later-dated Strikers 1945 Steam listing is a separate listing, so the older notice alone does not establish whether that edition is currently on sale. Check the live store page, publisher and edition before purchasing.
