Compare capacity, weight and charging together
The Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL illustrate the capacity–weight trade-off: Google lists the Pro at 4,870 mAh typical and 207 g, and the Pro XL at 5,200 mAh typical and 232 g. For another comparison, Samsung lists the Galaxy S25 at 4,000 mAh typical and the S25+ at 4,900 mAh typical. The cited announcement does not provide their weights, so it cannot establish which is lighter. Samsung cautions: “Actual battery life may vary depending on network environment, usage patterns and other factors.” In other words, capacity is useful for comparing specifications, but not enough to predict how long a phone will last for you. Read charging claims as conditional, not as a speed ranking
A claim such as “up to 70% in about 30 minutes” describes a stated charge level over a stated interval under the manufacturer’s conditions. It does not say that every charging session will reach that level, nor does it mean the phone charges at the same rate throughout the session. Compare the starting and ending level, elapsed time, and required equipment—not just a wattage number.
The cited Google figures specify USB-C PPS chargers: at least 30 W for the Pixel 10 Pro and at least 45 W for the Pro XL. Samsung’s S25 example specifies a 25 W adapter and 3 A USB-C cable; the S25+ example specifies a 45 W adapter and compatible cable. Samsung support notes that Super Fast Charging requires a supported phone and compatible charger, and that the available mode depends on charger and cable capabilities. Check what you need before choosing a model
- Set a practical weight limit. Use the phone’s listed weight in grams, not battery capacity alone. Decide how much extra weight you are willing to carry for more capacity.
- Compare typical and rated or minimum capacity where both are published. Treat mAh as a specification for comparison, not a direct promise of runtime or a measurement in watt-hours.
- Look for a timed charging claim. Prefer a stated charge level and interval, then confirm the exact adapter standard and wattage and any cable requirement.
- Check your accessories. Confirm whether you already own a compatible charger and cable. Samsung’s guidance makes clear that a supported phone alone is not enough for a particular fast-charging mode; Google’s cited claims require USB-C PPS chargers.
- Match the evidence to your use. If you need a prediction of everyday endurance, look for independent tests that cover the models you are considering under comparable workloads. The manufacturer figures here do not answer that question.
Account for wireless charging separately
Google lists wireless charging up to 15 W for the Pixel 10 Pro and up to 25 W for the Pixel 10 Pro XL with Pixelsnap Qi2. These are separate wireless specifications; they do not replace the wired-charge claims or establish equivalent charge times. Google Pixel specifications
