What you are actually choosing
These subscriptions are not interchangeable libraries. The practical difference is the publisher coverage, release timing, included edition and platform entitlement you receive while the membership is active.

The counts and benefits in this table are descriptions from the providers, not permanent guarantees. Xbox says that game titles, the number of games, features and availability vary over time, by region, Game Pass plan and platform. Ubisoft’s 145+ figure applies to Premium’s PC catalog as listed on its UK checkout, not to Classics or Game Pass.
Start with the games, not the brand name
A subscription only has value if it includes games you will install and play. Before comparing monthly prices, write down the next three to five PC games you genuinely expect to play, then search each service’s current catalog.

Check the exact platform listing
A title appearing in a service’s general advertising does not prove that the Windows PC version is included. Look for a PC or Windows listing in the live catalog and confirm whether access is through the Xbox app, Ubisoft Connect PC, EA’s PC app or another launcher identified at checkout.
Check the edition
Standard, Deluxe, Gold and Ultimate editions can contain different expansions, cosmetics or season passes. Record the edition shown before subscribing. Ubisoft specifically warns that when a premium or special edition is indicated, the edition included with Ubisoft+ may not contain all premium content.
Check whether you need permanent ownership
Subscription access normally lasts only while the relevant membership is active. If you stop renewing, you should expect access to subscription games to end unless you separately own them. Save games and settings can remain on your PC, but the right to launch a subscription copy is controlled by the service and the game publisher.

PC Game Pass is the strongest first comparison for a Windows player who does not want to limit the choice to one publisher. Xbox presents it as a Windows PC download plan with access to a changing Game Pass library. The breadth is its advantage, but the catalog is dynamic, so “included” is always a current, plan-specific condition rather than a permanent promise.
What PC Game Pass includes—and what it does not automatically include
- Windows PC download access to the games currently listed for the PC plan.
- A library whose titles, features and availability can change by region, plan and platform.
- Benefits that are specific to the PC tier; benefits shown for other Game Pass tiers should not be assumed to apply.
- No cloud gaming entitlement with PC Game Pass, according to Xbox’s plan comparison.
Xbox’s comparison page distinguishes benefits between plans. Read the row for PC Game Pass itself rather than relying on a headline that describes the broader Game Pass family.

When PC Game Pass is the sensible choice
- You play games from multiple publishers and want one catalog to browse.
- Your target list includes several games currently marked as included on PC.
- You value variety more than guaranteed access to every expansion or premium edition.
- You want to avoid buying separate publisher subscriptions until you know what you will keep playing.
When it may not be enough
PC Game Pass is not a substitute for every publisher’s premium plan. A particular Ubisoft title may be available through Game Pass while its Premium edition, launch-day access or DLC is reserved for Ubisoft+ Premium. Likewise, a game can leave the rotating library. Verify the individual listing before treating the subscription as a long-term entitlement.
EA Play: a focused EA library with trials
EA Play is designed around Electronic Arts games rather than a multi-publisher catalog. EA describes a collection of EA titles, trials of select new games, discounts on EA digital purchases and member rewards. The service is most compelling when several games you want are EA releases or when a trial helps you decide whether to buy a new title.
Understand the one-platform rule
EA’s FAQ states: “Your membership selection only applies to 1 platform.” For a PC buyer, select the PC membership and confirm that the game and account you intend to use are on that platform. Do not assume that a PC membership automatically transfers to a console version.
Trials are not full ownership
A trial can let you evaluate a select new game before purchase, but trial eligibility, duration and available titles are determined by EA. Treat a trial as a time-limited test, not as confirmation that the complete game or every future release is included.
The important Game Pass overlap
EA’s FAQ search result says EA Play is included at no additional cost for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Game Pass for PC subscribers. Therefore, check the Game Pass tier available in your market before buying EA Play separately. If your PC Game Pass membership already supplies EA Play, a second EA subscription may duplicate the same benefit.

Inclusion can depend on the current membership terms and your region. Confirm the entitlement in the account and checkout screens you will actually use.

Ubisoft separates its service into two materially different choices. Classics is an evolving selection of standard-edition PC games. Premium is the broader option: Ubisoft’s UK checkout listed 145+ PC games, day-one releases and early access when available, most premium editions and DLC, monthly rewards and Xbox play.
Ubisoft+ Classics
Classics suits a player who wants a rotating Ubisoft selection without paying for the Premium feature set. Because it is described as an evolving selection of standard editions, check whether the specific game, expansion and edition you want are listed before checkout.
Ubisoft+ Premium
Premium is the relevant plan if release timing and editions matter. “Day one” and “early access” apply when available, not to every Ubisoft release. The plan page also says that most premium editions and DLC are included, while the fine print warns that a listed premium or special edition may still exclude some premium content. Open the game’s detail page and identify exactly which expansions, add-ons and bonuses are included.
Ubisoft pricing shown for the UK
When accessed, Ubisoft’s UK checkout listed Classics at £6.99 per month or £69.99 per year, and Premium at £14.99 per month or £149.99 per year. These are UK checkout prices, not universal prices. Ubisoft advertises annual savings compared with twelve monthly payments, and offers can change. Your local price may differ because of currency, tax, promotions and renewal terms.

Is Ubisoft+ included with Game Pass?
Ubisoft Help describes a catalog of Ubisoft games available through Ubisoft Connect PC and the Xbox app for Windows PC while a PC Game Pass or Ultimate subscription is active. That access is not the same product as Ubisoft+ Premium.

1. Catalog breadth
PC Game Pass is the broadest multi-publisher proposition of these three. EA Play is concentrated on EA, and Ubisoft+ is concentrated on Ubisoft. This is a practical description of each provider’s stated catalog scope, not a promise about the number of games you will personally enjoy.
2. Release timing
EA Play offers trials for select new games. Ubisoft+ Premium lists day-one releases and early access when available. PC Game Pass timing depends on the individual title and the terms displayed for your plan. If playing at launch matters, inspect that game’s listing rather than relying on the service name.
3. Editions and DLC
Ubisoft+ Premium is the clearest fit when the included premium edition or DLC is the deciding factor, but its own warning makes title-level verification essential. EA Play’s stated benefits include discounts and rewards, not a blanket promise of every expansion. Game Pass inclusion also varies by title and plan.
4. Launcher and account friction
PC Game Pass games use the Windows PC ecosystem and may involve the Xbox app. Ubisoft games accessed through Game Pass may require Ubisoft Connect PC as well as the Xbox app. EA Play uses EA’s PC account and launcher arrangements. Before subscribing, confirm that you can sign in to the required accounts and have enough disk space for the launcher and game files.
5. Billing and cancellation
Xbox says recurring payments continue until canceled and instructs members to cancel before the next billing date to stop another charge. Ubisoft says cancellation is available at any time and takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle. Record your renewal date after subscribing; canceling on the final day can leave little margin for a payment-processing cutoff.
A step-by-step decision process
- Define the platform. Confirm that you are choosing Windows PC access, not a console-only or cloud entitlement.
- List your target games. Include the exact title, desired edition and any expansions you consider essential.
- Search the live catalogs. Check PC availability, current inclusion and the launcher required for each game.
- Mark publisher concentration. If most targets are EA, start with EA Play; if most are Ubisoft, compare Classics and Premium; if they span publishers, start with PC Game Pass.
- Check overlap. See whether your available PC Game Pass or Ultimate tier already includes EA Play and whether it includes the Ubisoft titles you want.
- Compare edition details. Read the game-level list of expansions, DLC, bonuses and early-access rights.
- Check local checkout terms. Review the current price, tax, promotional period, renewal price and billing frequency in your country.
- Set a cancellation reminder. Put the next billing date in your calendar, especially if you are subscribing for one release or a short backlog.
- Recheck before installing. Catalogs can change between the day you compare and the day you subscribe.
Decision examples
You play a mixture of genres from several publishers
Choose PC Game Pass as the first service to investigate. Search the library for your target list and count only games currently marked for Windows PC. If two or more targets are absent, compare a focused publisher subscription or a direct purchase instead of assuming the broad catalog is automatically better value.

Your backlog is mostly EA sports and action games
Check EA Play first, including the current trial list and member discounts. Then verify whether PC Game Pass in your region already includes EA Play. Paying for both can be unnecessary when the Game Pass tier supplies the same EA membership benefit.
You want a new Ubisoft release on launch day
Compare Ubisoft+ Premium with the game’s purchase page. Confirm that the release is marked day one or eligible for early access, identify the edition included and check every DLC qualification. A Ubisoft title in PC Game Pass does not establish Premium-level launch or edition access.
You want one older Ubisoft game and nothing else
Check Ubisoft+ Classics, PC Game Pass and the game’s direct purchase price. A focused subscription may be useful for a short play session, but a permanent purchase can be simpler if you expect to return after canceling.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
- Using a stale price: Prices, taxes, promotions and renewal amounts change. Use the live regional checkout, not an old comparison.
- Assuming every plan benefit transfers: Xbox distinguishes plan benefits and excludes cloud gaming from PC Game Pass.
- Confusing a title with a catalog: A Ubisoft game in Game Pass is not the full Ubisoft+ Premium service.
- Ignoring platform limits: EA says a membership selection applies to one platform.
- Assuming premium means complete: Ubisoft warns that some included premium or special editions may omit premium content.
- Forgetting rotation: Game Pass and other catalogs can change; verify availability immediately before subscribing.
- Missing the renewal date: Xbox recurring billing continues until canceled, while Ubisoft cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing cycle.
- Buying two overlapping subscriptions: Check EA Play inclusion in PC Game Pass or Ultimate before purchasing EA Play separately.
What to check on the final checkout screen
Before confirming payment, verify the account, country, platform, billing interval, introductory offer, renewal amount, next billing date and cancellation method. Open the target game’s page and confirm the PC edition, included DLC, launcher and any trial or early-access restriction. Take a screenshot or save the receipt if the checkout displays a limited-time price or an edition list you may need to reference later.
Bottom line: which PC subscription should you choose?
Start with PC Game Pass if your games come from multiple publishers and the current Windows catalog contains several titles you will play. Choose EA Play when EA games dominate your list or its trials and discounts are useful, but first check whether PC Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate already includes it. Choose Ubisoft+ Classics for a standard-edition Ubisoft selection and Ubisoft+ Premium when the current catalog, day-one access, early access or premium editions justify its higher UK-listed price; verify the exact DLC because premium content is not universal. In every case, make the decision from the live PC listing and local checkout, not from a historic catalog count or price.
