Choose a magnetic power bank with a built-in display by checking, in order: magnetic compatibility with your iPhone, the screen’s actual readouts, wireless and wired charging rates, usable capacity, and the bank’s size and cable setup. “Qi2” alone does not guarantee magnets, and a capacity printed in mAh does not tell you exactly how much charge your phone will receive.

1. Confirm magnetic compatibility with your iPhone

Start with the exact power bank model and your iPhone model. Look for an explicit statement that the bank supports magnetic attachment and works with your phone; do not rely on “Qi2” alone. The Wireless Power Consortium explains that Qi v2.0 includes two profiles: a Magnetic Power Profile based on MagSafe technology contributed by Apple, and an Extended Power Profile that does not include magnets. The consortium’s November 15, 2023 release makes that distinction clear.

Check the specific product listing for the region where you plan to buy. Product names and specifications can vary by market, and a wireless-charging rate may depend on the phone and exact model as well as the bank.

2. Check what the built-in display tells you

“Digital display” and “smart display” are broad product-page terms, not a promise that every screen shows the same information. Confirm whether it reports only the power bank’s remaining charge or also shows details such as output wattage and charging state. A percentage indicator is useful for estimating when to recharge the bank; additional readouts can help you see whether it is delivering power.

For example, UGREEN lists a digital display on its MagFlow Magnetic Wireless Power Bank 10000mAh Qi2 25W, while Anker lists a smart display on its MagGo Power Bank (10K, Built-in Stand & Smart Display). Those manufacturer descriptions establish that the products have displays, but do not independently verify the screens’ accuracy, readability, or practical usefulness. See UGREEN’s product listing and Anker’s product page for their stated features.

3. Compare wireless and wired charging separately

A power bank’s maximum wireless rate and its wired output are different specifications. If you sometimes want to charge over a cable, check the wired rate, port type, and whether a cable is included or built in—not just the Qi2 figure.

These are separate manufacturer or retailer specifications, not results from a controlled, side-by-side test. Apple’s Belkin listing is useful for seeing how a product can specify different wireless and cable rates.

4. Interpret the capacity figure carefully

mAh is the bank’s rated capacity, not a guaranteed number of mAh that will reach a phone. Energy is lost in the cells and charging circuitry during conversion. Anker says its 10,000mAh MagGo has an estimated 6,000–7,000mAh available to power devices; that is the manufacturer’s estimate for this product, not a universal conversion rate or an independent measurement. Compare usable-capacity information only when a maker provides it, and treat different brands’ figures as their own claims.

5. Decide which trade-offs matter for your use

  • Capacity versus bulk: Choose how much reserve you need for a typical day or trip, then compare the exact model’s dimensions and weight. The cited product information does not establish a complete, consistently measured size comparison across these examples.
  • Built-in cable versus separate cable: A built-in USB-C cable can reduce what you need to carry; check its stated output and how the listing says it is stored. If no cable is built in, check which ports the bank has and whether you need to bring one.
  • Wireless convenience versus wired output: Magnetic wireless charging keeps the phone attached to the bank, while a cable may matter when you want the bank’s stated wired rate or need to charge another device.
  • Stand or other features: If a stand or multi-device charging matters, verify that the exact model includes the feature and check how it affects the bank’s size and the way you plan to use it.

6. Use a short checklist before buying

  1. Match the exact power-bank model to your iPhone and confirm explicit magnetic compatibility.
  2. Check whether the Qi2 specification refers to the magnetic profile and confirm the wireless rate listed for that exact model.
  3. Read the display description and identify each readout it actually promises.
  4. Compare wireless output with wired output, ports, and any included or built-in cable.
  5. Treat rated capacity as a specification, not a guaranteed phone-charge count; note any maker’s usable-capacity estimate and its limits.
  6. Compare dimensions, weight, stand or multi-device features, and regional listing details that affect your use.

What the older Apple MagSafe Battery Pack can—and cannot—tell you

Apple’s support information for its legacy MagSafe Battery Pack covers selected iPhone 12, 13, and 14 models and says it can charge wirelessly at up to 15W when the pack is connected to a Lightning cable. Apple also gives extra-charge claims tied to particular iPhone models and stated test conditions. These details apply to that Apple product, not to other power banks, and should not be used to predict how many charges a modern display-equipped bank will deliver. Apple’s MagSafe Battery Pack support page provides the model-specific information.

What specifications cannot tell you

Manufacturer-listed rates, capacity, and display features are useful for narrowing a choice, but they do not establish which bank charges fastest in everyday use, stays coolest, holds most securely, lasts longest, or offers the best value. The cited listings do not provide a common controlled comparison of those qualities. Verify the exact model and regional product page, especially because listings can change.
