For a large pool toy or an ordinary low-pressure raft, choose a high-volume pump—not a tire-only inflator. It moves a lot of air at relatively low pressure, which suits large inflatables. Before buying, check your raft or toy maker’s pressure limit and valve type, then match the pump’s power source, hose and nozzle to how and where you’ll use it.
Start with the right kind of pump
High-volume pumps are made to move a large amount of air at low pressure. That makes them a practical category for airbeds, pools and other large inflatables, as Bosch’s volume-pump guidance explains. A tire-oriented pump instead prioritizes pressure; it is not a substitute for the high-volume output needed to fill a large toy or raft efficiently.

Some products offer both modes. With a dual-function model, use its high-volume hose and output for the raft or toy. Its high-pressure setting is a separate function for tasks such as inflating tires or balls; do not use it on a low-pressure inflatable unless the manufacturer explicitly permits it.
Check the inflatable’s pressure and valve before choosing
Follow the raft or toy manufacturer’s instructions for pressure and inflation. A pump’s maximum pressure is a ceiling for the pump, not a recommendation for your inflatable. If the product instructions do not specify a pressure, do not assume that a higher-rated pump setting is safe.

Compare the actual valve with the pump’s included nozzle and hose. Three adapters do not guarantee a fit for every valve, and a product page’s broad compatibility claim is not proof of universal fit. A secure nozzle connection matters: a loose fit can leak air and make inflation less effective.
Compare home inflator options
The figures below are specifications published on manufacturer or seller pages, not independent measurements. Maximum airflow and maximum pressure do not by themselves establish how quickly a particular raft will inflate; results depend on the inflatable, valve fit and conditions. The Bosch listing is regional (Saudi Arabia), and the Coleman listing is from Bestway’s Canada store. Availability, regional model names and included accessories can change, so confirm the exact listing before purchase.

Choose power and features for your setup
For inflation near a household outlet
A corded AC model avoids battery-runtime concerns, provided you have access to a suitable outlet where you inflate. The Intex Quick-Fill and Bestway PowerTouch are straightforward household options; the Coleman EasyFlate has the highest stated maximum airflow among the corded candidates listed here, but that rating is not an independent speed comparison.
For portability
A cordless pump can be easier to carry to a launch area or another spot without an outlet. The Bosch EasyInflate 18V-500 uses the 18V POWER FOR ALL battery platform, but the cited regional listing specifies that the battery and charger are sold separately. Account for that cost and confirm local package contents before choosing it.

For mixed inflation tasks
The BLACK+DECKER BDINF12C combines high-volume inflation for rafts and air mattresses with a separate high-pressure function, plus a digital gauge and automatic shutoff. Those added tire-oriented features do not replace checking the raft’s pressure guidance or matching its valve to the high-volume hose.
For deflation and storage
If you regularly pack away large toys, a pump with a deflate function can help remove air before storage. Intex and BLACK+DECKER list deflation; check the particular model’s instructions to see which hose or nozzle arrangement is required. Included adapters, a tote or a patch kit may also be useful, but none guarantees a fit with every valve.

A practical buying checklist
- Identify whether your inflatable needs a high-volume, low-pressure pump or a different pump type.
- Find the inflatable maker’s pressure instructions and valve type; do not infer a safe target from the pump’s maximum rating.
- Check that the supplied nozzle and hose fit the valve securely.
- Choose AC, 12V or cordless power based on where you will inflate and whether you have the required outlet or battery.

For a reader asking what to use on a “12 foot inflatable,” size alone is not enough to select a pump: the raft’s valve and pressure instructions still decide whether a specific model is appropriate.
