Which consoles are confirmed for GTA 6?

“Plays Best On” is Rockstar’s own label for PS5, not a published benchmark showing how it compares with either Xbox model. Rockstar’s August 27, 2026 extended-look announcement says its footage was captured entirely from in-game footage on PS5; footage from one console does not show how the game performs on other platforms. Will GTA 6 run better on PS5 or Xbox Series X?
The reviewed official sources do not provide like-for-like GTA VI performance specifications for PS5, Series X, or Series S. They do not establish which console will deliver a higher frame rate, resolution, or visual quality. Rockstar’s PS5 label may inform your choice as a publisher statement, but it should not be treated as an independently measured advantage.

Do not use Grand Theft Auto V as a performance proxy. Rockstar’s 2022 announcement described selectable modes targeting up to 60 FPS for that game on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Those were GTA V details, not a prediction or specification for GTA VI. Rockstar’s GTA V announcement.
How much does a console for GTA 6 cost?
There is no reliable single price to quote without a market, model, bundle, and date. The reviewed information does not establish current comparable prices for PS5, Series X, and Series S. - Record the exact model and storage configuration for each console you are considering.
- Compare the same type of purchase: console-only with console-only, or bundles with bundles. Note any included controller or game.
- Write down the retailer, market, and date checked, since offers and availability change.
- Add a recurring subscription cost only if you need that service for the games or features you plan to use.
Which console has the better game library for you?
There is no established overall library winner here. The practical question is which platform best fits the games and accounts you already use. Does the GTA 6 physical edition include a disc?
Rockstar Support says GTA VI will have Standard and Ultimate editions, with digital and physical versions. The physical box contains a download code, not a disc. The support page says the physical version is expected to be available starting November 12, 2026, ahead of the November 19 launch, and notes regional account and code restrictions.
