Terminator: Survivors does not have a confirmed character-selection system in the official information currently available. That means there is no verified roster to rank or “best” character to pick. The gameplay choices described so far are about how you approach encounters—not about choosing a named character with distinct stats or abilities.
Can you choose a character in Terminator: Survivors?
Not according to the official information reviewed. The Steam listing describes you as a survivor in a post–Judgment Day open world and says you will meet familiar and original characters. Meeting characters does not confirm that you can play as or select them. The PlayStation Store listing likewise describes character encounters, but does not establish a selectable roster.

There is no confirmed character menu, named playable roster, or character-build choice in these descriptions. So there is not yet a supported answer to questions such as which character has the best weapons, abilities, or stats.
What choices are documented instead?
The available descriptions point to choices in how you play, rather than who you play as. The Steam page mentions close- and long-range combat, stealth, exploration, and story investigation. The developer has also described using firearms, makeshift explosives, and specialized technology to adapt to encounters.
#1 Best Overall
- Meet iconic & original characters & immerse yourself in a meticulously crafted world set in the post-apocalyptic future of James Cameron’s masterpiece
- Explore the open world & discover key materials & survivors you need to advance your home base, but never forget: The deadly Terminator is out there
- Learn more about what happened on Judgment Day in an unexplored storyline and try to change humanity’s fate
- Grow the remnants of humanity at a base; use a new foothold for humanity and stand against the machine threat alone or in co-op with up to 3 friends
- While you’ll be armed to attack up close and at range, stealth and caution may be more intelligent approaches with Skynet’s machines and scavengers
- Combat or stealth: The described approaches let you engage threats or try to avoid detection; no character-specific bonuses are confirmed.
- Weapons and tools: Firearms, explosives, and specialized technology are described as ways to handle encounters, not as starting equipment tied to a chosen character.
- Exploration and story: The game is presented as an open-world survival story in the aftermath of Judgment Day.
Is co-op part of the current plan?
Older PlayStation Store marketing copy describes solo or co-op play. However, in an official update dated 16 December 2025, Creative Director Marco Ponte said the team had put cooperative multiplayer aside after internal testing and player discussions. The update also said the game would not launch in 2025 and that no new release date was locked in. For the current multiplayer plan, that later developer update is more informative than the older storefront copy. Read the official Steam Community news archive.

For now, do not rely on character rankings or build advice as if they describe confirmed game mechanics. Wait for an official roster, gameplay demonstration, or launch information that specifically shows selectable characters and explains any differences between them. Steam currently lists the release date as “To be announced.”
