If Breece Hall is confirmed inactive, first check your eligible bench running backs, then compare waiver options and flex-eligible players under your league’s scoring rules. Braelon Allen was a strong Jets-specific waiver candidate in NFL.com’s Week 4, 2026 report, but that was a conditional assessment for that week—not a universal start recommendation. Confirm Hall’s current status and Allen’s current role before setting a lineup.
Confirm Hall’s status before changing your lineup
Use the current official NFL inactive report alongside the status shown by your fantasy platform. ESPN says its fantasy injury status uses the NFL’s official injury/inactive list: ESPN’s fantasy injury-status guide. Status can change from week to week, so a report from an earlier game is not confirmation for the current one.

For context, NFL.com’s Week 4, 2026 waiver report said Hall sustained a thigh injury in the Jets’ loss at Detroit and was considered week to week after an MRI on his quad. That is a dated account of that injury situation, not a current status update: NFL.com’s Week 4, 2026 waiver report.

The Jets’ official inactive report for their January 4, 2026 season finale listed Hall as inactive against Buffalo. That confirms his status for that historical game only; it does not establish his availability for another week: Jets’ January 4, 2026 inactives report.

Check your bench, then evaluate the alternatives
Before using waiver priority or budget, identify every player on your roster who is eligible for Hall’s lineup slot. Compare each candidate’s likely workload and role rather than picking the most familiar name. A running back who is already on your roster may be a better fit than a new pickup, depending on your roster and league settings.
When comparing eligible running backs and flex options, consider:

- Likely touches and role: Look for the expected workload, not just a player’s position or reputation.
- Receiving involvement: Receptions can add value in formats that award points for catches.
- Goal-line opportunity: A role near the goal line may matter in your scoring format.
- Matchup: Use it as one factor alongside workload, not as a substitute for role.
- Availability and timing: Check whether a waiver option is actually available and whether that player’s game starts before your lineup deadline.
These are decision criteria, not a projection or ranking of players in your league. The right choice depends on your scoring settings, roster, available players, and matchup.
Should you pick up Braelon Allen?
Allen was the clearest Jets-specific waiver candidate in NFL.com’s Week 4, 2026 report. NFL.com ranked him as its top running-back waiver target and said he could offer RB2 production if Hall missed significant time. The condition matters: it was an outlook tied to Hall’s injury at that point, not a guarantee that Allen would produce at that level or outrank your other options. The report listed Allen as rostered in 14% of leagues at the time, an article-specific snapshot rather than a lasting ownership rate: NFL.com’s Week 4, 2026 waiver report.

Before adding or starting Allen, verify that he is still available in your league and check for newer injury, practice, and depth-chart information. If those updates have changed his expected role, reassess him against your bench and other waiver choices rather than relying on the earlier conditional forecast.
