Choose the streaming service and the music rights separately. A service may keep prerecorded video running on YouTube, but that does not clear the music in it. Before signing up, get written answers about continuous operation, recovery after interruptions, YouTube event management, archived streams, monetization, and who handles Content ID issues.
Start by separating streaming from music clearance
A 24/7 service handles the technical broadcast: sending video and audio to YouTube and, depending on the provider, scheduling or managing the live event. Music clearance is a separate question: whether you have permission to use each track in a live stream, in the territories where viewers may watch, and in any archive, clip, or highlight you publish.

Do not treat “royalty-free,” a provider directory listing, or a license for one use as proof that every use is covered. Ask both the streaming provider and the music rights holder to define their responsibilities in writing.

Shortlist services by what they actually do
- StreamNeo — first to consider for cloud-hosted, prerecorded YouTube streams. It loops uploaded videos or playlists from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not need to stay on; uploads stream as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and the first day is free. This is a streaming service, not music clearance: confirm rights for your tracks separately. See StreamNeo.
- Providers in YouTube’s Services Directory. YouTube describes directory providers as potentially helping create and schedule events, encode broadcasts to its recommendations, and manage streams within a channel. Treat the listing as a way to build a shortlist, not evidence of 24/7 uptime, interruption recovery, or music permissions; verify each of those directly.
- A self-managed encoder or developer integration. You can run an encoder yourself or use a service that automates parts of YouTube’s Live Streaming API workflow. The API supports functions such as scheduling broadcasts, associating a broadcast with a video stream, and inserting cuepoints that may trigger ad breaks. It does not supply music rights or guarantee uptime. A self-managed setup also leaves you responsible for keeping the encoder, network, and monitoring available.
Compare providers on the same questions
| What to compare | What to confirm | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Continuous operation | Whether 24/7 streaming is supported, what service limits apply, and how the provider monitors a running stream. | A directory listing or general live-streaming support does not establish nonstop operation. |
| Recovery | What happens after an encoder, server, or network interruption; whether the stream reconnects automatically; and what requires your action. | A stream can stop even if the original setup worked. You need to know who detects and responds to a failure. |
| YouTube management | Whether the service creates or schedules the event, manages it on your channel, and what YouTube account permissions it requires. | “Supports YouTube” can mean different levels of automation and account access. |
| Music rights | Which tracks are cleared for live use, territories covered, whether monetization is allowed, and whether archives, clips, and highlights are included. | Permission for a live broadcast does not automatically establish permission for every later use. |
| Claims and interruptions | Whether the rights holder can allowlist your channel in Content ID, who contacts the rights holder, and what evidence to keep. | A licensed track can still trigger a live interruption if the channel is not allowlisted. |
| Outages and responsibility | What happens during provider or internet outages, what logs are available, and which tasks remain yours in YouTube Studio or with the licensor. | Clear ownership avoids delays when a stream warning, interruption, or post-stream claim occurs. |
Choose music that is cleared for the exact use
YouTube Audio Library
YouTube identifies Audio Library music and sound effects as copyright-safe on YouTube and says its downloads will not be claimed through Content ID. Check each track’s license: some Creative Commons tracks require attribution in the video description, while tracks under the standard Audio Library license do not. YouTube says it knows only Audio Library tracks and effects to be copyright-safe; it does not take responsibility for problems involving “royalty-free” music from other libraries.

Creator Music
Do not rely on Creator Music to clear a 24/7 live stream. YouTube’s Creator Music FAQ says it does not currently support licensing for live content. Its availability has been described as a gradual rollout to YouTube Partner Program creators in the United States, with wider expansion planned; check access in YouTube Studio, but do not mistake access to Creator Music for livestream permission.
Third-party catalogs, including 48Tunes
Read the catalog’s terms for the specific track and playback method. 48Tunes publishes conditional permission for eligible catalog tracks used as stream audio on YouTube and other livestream platforms when played directly through its official player. Its page says permission is available on the free plan, but is limited to eligible tracks available in the player at stream time and subject to its Terms of Service. The page, last updated July 10, 2026, does not separately define monetized streams, archived VODs, clips, or highlights, and warns that automated copyright claims can still happen. Obtain written confirmation for any use it does not clearly cover.

Understand YouTube’s live Content ID risk
YouTube Help says all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in another live broadcast. When a match is identified, YouTube may show a warning and replace the stream with a placeholder image. If the creator addresses the issue, the stream can continue; if the content remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate it. A copyright or Community Guidelines strike can also end a stream.
For third-party music you have licensed, YouTube recommends asking the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. A license by itself may not prevent an interruption if the channel is not allowlisted. If you choose to archive a live stream, YouTube says Content ID claims on that archive are made after the stream is complete; archive rights still need to be covered by your agreement.
Use this checklist before buying or migrating
- Get written confirmation that the provider supports continuous 24/7 streaming and note any limits.
- Ask how it detects and recovers from encoder, server, and network interruptions, and what you must do if recovery fails.
- Confirm whether it schedules and manages YouTube events, what channel permissions it needs, and what settings remain your responsibility.
- Keep a written track list and confirm live-use permission for each track and territory.
- Confirm separately whether monetization, archived VODs, clips, and highlights are covered.
- Ask whether the licensor can add your channel to its Content ID allowlist and who follows up if it cannot.
- Agree who responds to live warnings, interruptions, post-stream claims, and rights-owner disputes.
- Retain licenses, track lists, stream logs, and screenshots of warnings or claims, and ask the provider what records it can supply.
DIY streaming versus cloud hosting
With a self-managed encoder, you schedule or start the YouTube broadcast, provide the stream credentials, feed the encoder your video and audio, and keep the computer and internet connection running for the duration. You also need a way to notice a stopped stream and restart it. YouTube’s Live Streaming API can automate some event and broadcast-management tasks, but it is a developer interface rather than an uptime service or music license. Whatever method you use, make sure your music permissions and Content ID plan are settled independently.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos in the cloud; it does not stream from a camera. Nothing has to stay on at home. Every slot streams your upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot regardless of quality; it includes 10 GB storage per slot, pooled across your active slots, playlists and 24/7 looping, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and StreamNeo team support. It streams to YouTube only. Music clearance remains your responsibility.
