The right model depends on more than its refresh-rate headline: match its resolution, size, panel, adaptive sync, inputs, and stand to your games and setup. The available specifications support two useful examples, but do not establish current prices or a universal best buy.
When 1080p makes sense for gaming
Full HD (FHD), or 1080p, means a native resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. Lenovo notes that it can suit buyers with budget constraints or hardware limitations; 1440p and 4K can look sharper, but require more graphics-card power, according to TechRadar’s 2026 guide. That makes 1080p a practical fit when you would rather prioritize smooth gameplay or avoid pushing your PC beyond its capabilities.

Screen size affects how the image looks at the same resolution: a larger 1080p display spreads those pixels across more area than a smaller one. Consider how far you sit from the screen and whether a sharper image matters more to you than running games at high frame rates. Neither resolution nor refresh rate alone determines whether a monitor is good value.

Dell’s September 2026 Gaming Monitor Buying Guide identifies refresh rate, response time, adaptive sync, and panel type as core specifications. Use them alongside physical fit, connections, and local price rather than treating any single number as a verdict.
#1 Best Overall
- 【INTEGRATED SPEAKERS】Whether you're at work or in the midst of an intense gaming session, our built-in speakers provide rich and seamless audio, all while keeping your desk clutter-free.

Refresh rate and response time
Refresh rate, measured in hertz (Hz), is the number of unique images the monitor can display per second. A higher rate can make motion look smoother, but your PC or console must deliver enough frames to take advantage of it. Check the refresh rate available at 1920×1080 through the connection you plan to use; a headline maximum does not establish that every input or device can reach it.
Response time describes how quickly pixels transition, often measured gray-to-gray. Slower transitions can create visible ghosting, but a quoted best-case figure does not by itself show typical motion clarity. Look for a clearly explained measurement method and independent motion testing when available. The specifications cited here do not provide a side-by-side independent test of the example monitors.

- 23.8" Full HD (1920 x 1080) Widescreen VA Monitor | AMD FreeSync Premium Technology
- Refresh Rate: 165Hz | Response Time: 1ms (VRB) | Pixel Pitch: 0.275mm | Color Saturation: NTSC 72%
- Zero-Frame Design | HDR Ready
- VESA mounting compliant (100 x 100mm) | Ergonomic Tilt: -5° to 15°
- Ports: 1 x Display Port 1.2 and 2 x HDMI 2.0 (HDMI Cable Included)
Panel type
Dell describes IPS panels as offering wide viewing angles and good color, while VA panels offer higher native contrast with narrower viewing angles. Those are tradeoffs, not a universal ranking: viewing position, room lighting, game type, and personal preference all matter. The examples below include VA specifications, but the cited material does not establish that either model is the best fit for every player.

Adaptive sync and connections
Adaptive sync matches the display’s refresh to the GPU’s frame output to help reduce tearing and stutter. AMD’s FreeSync tiers include low-framerate compensation, and AMD says its displays undergo certification tests. NVIDIA says G-SYNC monitors are tested for quality and GeForce compatibility; HDMI 2.1 VRR is another relevant option for consoles. These labels do not prove that every mode works through every port. Confirm the exact monitor listing, your GPU or console, and the connection path before buying.

- MSI's 23.8-inch Full HD IPS gaming monitor (1920×1080) delivers a 1500:1 contrast ratio with wide 178°/178° viewing angles — producing deeper blacks, brighter highlights, and accurate colors from virtually any position for gaming and productivity.
- TÜV Rheinland certified Flicker Free and Low Blue Light — eliminating the ~200Hz screen flicker common on standard monitors and reducing harmful blue light exposure to minimize eye strain during extended gaming or work sessions.
- 144Hz high refresh rate delivers ultra-smooth motion and sharper tracking versus standard 60Hz or 75Hz monitors — keeping every frame fluid and responsive for fast-paced FPS, racing, and action games without screen tearing or stuttering.
- MSI's built-in Eye-Q Check provides a vision assessment tool to help optimize display settings for healthier long-term viewing — designed for professionals and students spending extended hours in front of a Full HD IPS screen.
- Tilt-adjustable stand (-5°~20°) for comfortable viewing at any desk setup, with VESA 100×100mm wall mount compatibility for monitor arms, brackets, and multi-monitor arrangements — reducing neck strain during long gaming or work sessions.
Fit, ports, and price
Check the stand’s adjustment range and whether the monitor supports the mounting arrangement you need. Make sure its available inputs match your computer or console and can support the refresh rate you want. Finally, compare current local prices, stock, and warranty for the exact regional model. The evidence available for this comparison does not establish live prices, retailer availability, or warranty terms.

| ASUS VG278QR | ASUS lists a 165 Hz refresh rate, G-SYNC Compatible, and FreeSync Premium. Do not treat the 0.5 ms minimum as an independently measured typical response time. |
These are specification examples, not a price-ranked shortlist or a claim of comparative performance. Lenovo’s category guide describes Legion models as prioritizing very high refresh and low response time, G-Series as commonly emphasizing curved screens, and L-Series as budget-oriented with IPS features and lower refresh rates relative to higher-end models. That is Lenovo’s own category guidance, not an independent ranking.

A practical buying checklist
- Set your target. Decide whether your priority is a lower-cost 1080p setup, smoother motion, panel contrast, or a particular screen size.
- Check your system. Confirm your graphics card or console can drive the games you play at 1920×1080 and the refresh rate you want.
- Match the connection. Verify the monitor’s input and the device’s output support the intended resolution, refresh rate, and adaptive-sync mode together.
- Compare panel tradeoffs. Choose between IPS viewing angles and color characteristics and VA’s higher native contrast, based on your seating and preferences.
- Verify the exact purchase. Check regional model number, stand or mount fit, current local price, stock, and warranty before deciding whether it is good value.
