To check whether you’re registered to vote in the United States, use USAGov’s voter-registration confirmation page to reach your state’s official election website. Use that state or local election office’s lookup to find your polling place, then confirm the location for the specific election you plan to vote in.

If your status is inactive, unclear, or missing, contact your state or local election office for instructions. Inactive status may require extra steps; if it is not resolved, you could be asked to cast a provisional ballot.
The election office that maintains your record is the authority on your status and the rules that apply to you. A third-party search result is not a substitute for the state’s official record.
Find where you vote
Use the polling-place lookup on your state or local election office’s website. The U.S. Election Assistance Commission’s state directory links to election offices and voter information, including resources for finding an in-person voting location.
Check the location for the election you intend to vote in. Polling places are tied to your address and jurisdiction, and a location shown for one election may not be the right one for another. If the lookup does not give a clear answer, contact the election office directly.

Update your registration after a move or name change
If you have moved or changed your legal name, use the official update process for your state or territory and complete it before that jurisdiction’s deadline. If you moved across state lines, you generally need to register in your new state. Start at Vote.gov’s registration page to reach the relevant state process.
Check deadlines early
There is no single U.S. registration deadline or uniform lookup process. Deadlines and procedures vary by state and territory: some jurisdictions allow registration on Election Day, while others close registration earlier. Check your state’s deadline and process, and verify your record before the deadline so there is time to correct an error.
The EAC’s 2024 Election Administration and Voting Survey reported that 92.7% of states said voters could check registration status on the state election office website, and 94.6% said voters could check polling-site locations there. These are state-reported tool-availability figures from the 2024 policy survey, not a guarantee that a particular tool is currently available or covers every locality.
