How to Check Your PlayStation Store Wallet Balance and Transaction History

Your PlayStation Store wallet balance and purchase history are separate account views. To see available funds, open the wallet or payment-management area for your platform. To confirm a purchase, investigate a charge, or review spending, open Transaction History instead. The routes differ on the web, PS5, PS4, and the PlayStation App, but each shows information for the account currently signed in.

The instructions below follow Sony’s current support paths for the United States web store, PlayStation consoles, and the PlayStation App. Menu wording can vary slightly by account region or software version.

What you need before checking

  • Sign in to the PlayStation account whose balance or purchases you want to inspect.
  • Use the wallet view for the amount currently available to spend. Use Transaction History for completed or attempted purchases and their details.
  • No gift card, console accessory, or separate utility is required to view either screen. A PlayStation Store gift card is only relevant if you want to add funds.

Wallet money belongs to the account, not to a particular console. If several people use one console, confirm the account name before interpreting the amount or a purchase.

Check your PlayStation Store wallet balance

Sony documents four ways to view the current wallet amount. Choose the device you already have access to; the balance is the same account information regardless of where you view it.

#1 Best Overall
$100 PlayStation Store Gift Card [Digital Code]
  • Redeem for anything on PlayStationStore: games, add-ons, PlayStationPlus and more.
  • Everything you want to play. Choose from the largest library of PlayStation content.
  • Use gift card funds to contribute towards PlayStationPlus memberships.

On the PlayStation Store website

  1. Open the PlayStation Store wallet support page or go directly to PlayStation Store and sign in.
  2. Select your profile icon.
  3. Choose Payment Management.
  4. Read the wallet balance shown at the top of the page.

If the amount looks wrong, first check the signed-in account and currency region. The page reports the wallet associated with that account; it does not combine balances from separate accounts.

On PS5

  1. Open PlayStation Store from the PS5 home screen.
  2. Press Triangle to open the store controls.
  3. Select the … (More) menu.
  4. Look to the right of the profile icon for the wallet balance.

This is the quickest console route because it stays inside PlayStation Store rather than the general Settings application.

On PS4

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Account Management > Account Information.
  3. Select Wallet and sign in if prompted.
  4. Select Add Funds. The current balance appears at the top right.

Choosing Add Funds does not automatically add money. It opens the funding screen, where Sony displays the existing wallet amount before any new amount is selected.

In the PlayStation App

  1. Open the PlayStation App and select the PlayStation Store icon.
  2. Open the store menu.
  3. Select Payment Methods.
  4. Read the wallet balance at the top.

Use the same PlayStation account in the app that you use on your console if you are checking a console purchase.

Important note about child accounts

Sony’s wallet guidance says a child account does not have its own wallet. Do not expect a child account to hold an independently funded balance or to top up a wallet in the same way as an adult account. Check the supervising family account when you need to verify available funds.

Check PlayStation Store transaction history

Transaction History is the right place to verify whether a purchase succeeded, identify what an entry represents, or examine an unfamiliar charge. Sony’s online view initially shows the past two years. That is the default date range, not a stated maximum retention period; use the date-range selector to choose another available period.

Online through Account Management

  1. Sign in to Account Management.
  2. Select Transaction History.
  3. Choose the date range you want to inspect. The default online view covers the past two years.
  4. Select an individual transaction to open its details.

The detail screen can show the item and transaction information. Sony’s guide notes that it may also provide a Request Refund option. Seeing that option is not a promise that a refund will be approved; eligibility is handled through Sony’s separate refund process.

On PS5

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Users and Accounts > Account > Payment and Subscriptions > Transaction History.
  3. Select the account whose activity you want to view.
  4. Choose a date range.
  5. Select a transaction to display its details.

On PS5, only the family manager can view family members’ transaction histories. If you are signed in as a child or another family member and cannot see the expected records, the family manager must perform the lookup.

  • Redeem for anything on PlayStationStore: games, add-ons, PlayStationPlus and more.
  • Everything you want to play. Choose from the largest library of PlayStation content.
  • Use gift card funds to contribute towards PlayStationPlus memberships.

On PS4

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Account Management > Account Information > Wallet > Transaction History.
  3. Use the console’s displayed QR code to open the transaction-history page.
  4. Choose the relevant date range and select a transaction for its details.

The PS4 route transfers the detailed history view to a connected device through the QR code rather than presenting every detail directly on the console screen.

In the PlayStation App

  1. Open the app and select PlayStation Store.
  2. Open the store menu.
  3. Select Transaction History.
  4. Choose a date range.
  5. Select a transaction to inspect its details.

The app is useful when the console is unavailable, but it still displays the history for the account currently signed in.

Use transaction history to investigate a charge

Sony describes transaction-history lookup as useful for checking whether a PlayStation Store purchase was successful or finding the cause of an unfamiliar charge. Start with the entry itself rather than assuming the charge is fraudulent.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Open Transaction History using the web, PS5, PS4, or app route above.
  2. Set a date range that includes the date shown by your bank, card issuer, or account notification.
  3. Open each plausible transaction and compare its date, item, and amount with the charge you are investigating.
  4. Check other people who may use the same PlayStation account or console, while remembering that the record identifies an account transaction, not necessarily the person who physically initiated it.
  5. If the entry remains unfamiliar, follow Sony’s separate support path for unauthorized transactions. Transaction History helps you identify the purchase; it does not by itself establish who used the account or guarantee a refund.

A missing entry can result from checking the wrong account or date range. Because the online screen starts with a two-year default, expand or change the selected dates when you are looking for an older transaction. Sony does not state that two years is the maximum period available.

Wallet balance versus transaction history

View Answers Where to open it Special consideration
Wallet balance How much account credit is available now? Payment Management, PlayStation Store controls, Wallet, or Payment Methods A child account does not have its own wallet.
Transaction History What purchases or charges were recorded? Account Management, console account settings, or the PlayStation App PS5 family-member histories are visible only to the family manager.

These views complement one another. A balance tells you what remains; a transaction record explains activity that changed the balance or charged another payment method.

Adding money is optional

A PlayStation Store gift card can be redeemed to add funds to a wallet, according to Sony’s wallet and funding guidance. You do not need a gift card to check either the balance or the transaction history. If you are only investigating an account, do not purchase a card as a troubleshooting step.

Troubleshooting common problems

The balance is not where the instructions say

  • Verify that the console, browser, or app is signed in to the intended PlayStation account.
  • On PS5, open PlayStation Store before pressing Triangle; the More menu described by Sony appears inside the store.
  • On PS4, continue through Wallet and select Add Funds to reveal the amount at the top right.
  • In the app, enter the store menu and choose Payment Methods rather than the general account page.

A purchase is not visible

  • Confirm the selected date range. The online history defaults to the past two years, but that is only the initial view.
  • Check the account that made the purchase. Separate accounts do not share one transaction list.
  • On PS5, ask the family manager to perform the lookup if the transaction belongs to a family member.

The charge is unfamiliar

Open the transaction details and compare the item, date, and amount with your payment record. If the details do not explain the charge, use Sony’s unauthorized-transaction support rather than treating the history screen as proof of who made the purchase. Keep in mind that a refund request, where offered, is subject to Sony’s refund rules.

You are checking a child account

Because Sony says child accounts do not have their own wallet, inspect the family manager’s wallet for available funds. The family manager is also the account permitted to view family members’ transaction histories on PS5.

Which method should you use?

  • Use the website when you need a flexible date range or want to open detailed records without using a console.
  • Use PS5 when you are already in PlayStation Store for a balance check, or when the family manager needs to review family activity from the console.
  • Use PS4 when the console is available; its history route uses a QR code to continue on another device.
  • Use the PlayStation App when your phone is more convenient than the console and you are signed in to the correct account.

Regardless of the method, select the account first, choose the appropriate view, and use the date range and transaction details when you need more than the current wallet total.
