How to Check Your Bee Network Card Balance and Journey History on an iPhone

By Freedom251 Team · · 14 min read

Use the official Bee Network/TfGM smart-card account in your iPhone browser. A registered or associated Bee Card can expose transaction data and the products loaded on it. However, the official information does not confirm that the account shows a monetary cash balance, a complete journey-by-journey history, or a dedicated iPhone app. Treat the portal’s own labels as definitive rather than assuming that “products” means stored cash or that transaction data is a full travel log.

What you can check from an iPhone

The supported route is the Bee Network online smart-card account, opened in Safari or another browser on your iPhone. TfGM’s smart-card terms say that registering or associating a card enables the account holder to view transaction data relating to online purchases. The Bee Network FAQ uses narrower wording: it says customers can see what products are on a smart card online, while staff at an information and ticket office can print a list.

The same official account portal is used for ordering Bee Cards and buying eligible tickets and travelcards for Greater Manchester bus and Metrolink services. A Bee Card can therefore carry qualifying Bee Network bus and tram products, but the portal’s shopping and account functions should not be confused with a live fare meter.

Those statements establish access to account information, but they do not define every item the portal may display. In particular, the published material does not establish that the page contains:

  • Use the, easy-to-use, and customizable POS to get started.
  • Accept contactless payments, chip cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay from anywhere, with improved connectivity, extended battery life, and enhanced security. Pay one low rate for every tap or dip.
  • No long-term commitments or contracts, no monthly fees- and with offline payments, keep taking payments for up to 24 hours.

  • Use the, easy-to-use, and customizable POS to get started.
  • a stored-value cash balance similar to a bank-card balance;
  • a complete list of every bus or tram journey made;
  • remaining value or rides calculated from each trip; or
  • a current iOS app with a separate balance or history screen.

If the portal calls a section “products,” that normally refers to tickets or travelcards associated with the card. If it labels a section “transactions,” read the entries as the transaction data described by TfGM. Do not rename either view a cash balance or a complete journey history unless the live portal explicitly does so.

What you need before starting

  • An iPhone with an internet connection and Safari or another current browser.
  • The email address and password for the Bee Network smart-card account connected to the card.
  • The Bee Card you want to inspect, especially if you need to identify which card is registered.
  • Any purchase details needed to recognise an online ticket or travelcard.
  • A private connection if you are signing in away from home, and a way to keep account details out of screenshots.

A Bee Card bought through the official website is associated with a Bee Network online account. A card obtained at an information and ticket office can be registered there or later. If it remains unregistered, TfGM says it is not associated with the customer and the customer cannot access transaction data relating to its use through the account.

Registration also matters if the card is lost. TfGM’s account terms list applying for a replacement TfGM smart card as one of the functions enabled by registration or association. That does not mean an iPhone can block or replace a card automatically; it means the account relationship is important for the account services TfGM describes.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Step-by-step: check the card online on an iPhone

1. Open the official account portal

  1. Open Safari on the iPhone.
  2. Go to the official Bee Network/TfGM website and open the smart-card account portal used for Bee Card registration, card orders and ticket or travelcard purchases.
  3. Use the sign-in control shown on that official site. The published guidance does not document a particular mobile layout, so the wording and position of controls may differ between devices or after a site redesign.

Use the official site rather than an unofficial “balance checker,” generic NFC reader or third-party app. The available TfGM information identifies the online account as the supported source for card information. A generic NFC tool cannot be assumed to understand Bee Network products, account permissions or the rules for collecting an online purchase.

2. Sign in to the account associated with the card

Enter the credentials for the account to which the card is registered or associated. A card can be linked to only one Bee Network smart-card online account. If you have more than one account, signing in to the wrong one can make a valid card appear to be missing.

Do not create several accounts as a first response to a missing card. First try the account used when the card was ordered or registered. If another person originally registered the card, ask that person or contact customer services about the account association rather than guessing at repeated registrations.

3. Open the card or transaction information shown by the portal

After signing in, look for the card-management, product, purchase or transaction area presented by the official portal. Do not rely on an assumed button name: the source material confirms the account function, but it does not publish iPhone-specific screen names or a fixed sequence of taps.

Record what the page actually identifies. Useful distinctions include:

Square Reader for magstripe (USB-C)

  • Get set up quickly with no long-term commitments. Download the Square Point of Sale app for free, create an account, and start taking payments anywhere.
  • Run your business all in one place with the free Square Point of Sale app. Track your sales, manage inventory, accept tips, send receipts digitally, and more.
  • Works with Apple devices with a Lightning connector.
  • Products: tickets or travelcards shown as being on the smart card.
  • Transactions: account activity, such as online purchases, where the portal provides it.
  • Pending collection: an online purchase that still needs to be written to the physical card at a smart reader.
  • Card identity: the card or association that tells you which physical card the entry belongs to.

A product list is not automatically a monetary balance. A transaction entry is not automatically a record of every boarding or tram ride. The wording on the live account determines what has been verified.

4. Check the date, status and card identity

When entries are visible, match them to the correct card and purchase. Check any displayed validity dates, product names or status labels. A purchase shown in the account may be an online order awaiting collection rather than proof that the product is already written to the card.

Keep a screenshot or note of the page if you need to show customer services what the account displays; avoid sharing account credentials or unredacted personal information. A screenshot is useful for recording a product name or purchase reference, but it does not expand the account’s underlying data into a journey log.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

5. Sign out on a shared iPhone

Sign out of the account when finished, particularly if the iPhone belongs to someone else. Do not save the password in a shared browser, and avoid sending screenshots that expose your email address, card identifiers or transaction details.

How registration affects access to data

Cards bought online

A Bee Card obtained through the official website is associated with a Bee Network online account. That association is the basis for viewing the account information described in TfGM’s terms. The account can also be used to purchase specified travelcards, subject to availability, and to apply for a replacement TfGM smart card if the registered card is lost or stolen.

Cards obtained at an information and ticket office

These cards can be registered at the office or later. If you never register the card, TfGM says you cannot access transaction data relating to its use through your customer account. Registration is therefore not an optional step if you want the online account to identify the card and its associated data.

If you are unsure whether registration happened, ask staff at an information and ticket office or contact customer services. Staff can print a list of products on the smart card, which can be a practical alternative when you need to confirm what is loaded but cannot get the online account to show it.

If the card does not appear

Check the account you used first. Confirm that the card was registered or associated, and remember that one card cannot be linked to multiple Bee Network smart-card accounts. If the card is already linked elsewhere, or the account cannot complete the association, contact Bee Network customer services rather than creating repeated accounts or attempting to register the same card over and over.

Products on the card versus a cash balance

The official FAQ answers a related question by saying that customers can see what products are on a smart card online, and that information-office staff can print the list. In this context, a product can be an eligible bus or Metrolink ticket or travelcard loaded to the Bee Card.

The reviewed official wording does not promise a bank-style stored-value balance. It also does not specify whether a portal view includes unused value, remaining rides, a product’s start and end dates, or only the existence of a purchase. Those details depend on what the current account displays. If you need a precise monetary amount and no cash figure is shown, do not infer one from a product name or purchase total; ask customer services or visit an information and ticket office.

This distinction prevents a common mistake: treating the price paid for an online travelcard as a remaining balance. A purchase amount describes the transaction, while a product description describes what was bought or loaded. Neither proves that the card stores spendable cash in the same way as a bank card.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Why a purchased ticket may not appear on the physical card yet

Viewing an online purchase and loading that purchase onto the physical card are separate actions. TfGM’s FAQ advises that, when an online-purchased ticket or travelcard will not load, you should hold the card to a smart reader for at least a count of three.

  1. Find an appropriate Bee Network smart reader.
  2. Hold the Bee Card to the reader continuously while counting to at least three.
  3. Wait for the reader’s normal confirmation before removing the card.
  4. If the purchase still does not load, try again with the card by itself.

Multiple contactless items can interfere with the reader. Remove nearby smart cards, phones, contactless bank cards and building-entry cards from the immediate area. A phone in the same wallet or directly behind the Bee Card can be enough to cause a failed read. Presenting only the Bee Card reduces the chance that the reader selects or detects another contactless item.

This reader step does not create a journey-history screen on the iPhone. It simply collects an eligible online purchase onto the card. Keep the two tasks separate: use the account to inspect the information it provides, and use the reader to collect a ticket or travelcard that is waiting to be loaded.

What “journey history” means here

For this topic, four kinds of information can be confused:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Information What the official material supports What is not established
Online purchase transactions TfGM’s terms say registration or association enables the account holder to view transaction data relating to online purchases. The exact date range, fields, filters and retention period are not stated.
Products on the smart card The Bee Network FAQ says products on a smart card can be viewed online, with a printed list available from information and ticket office staff. The FAQ does not define this as a cash balance or give a complete trip log.
Physical journeys No reviewed official statement confirms a complete bus-and-tram journey history in the account. Do not assume every tap, boarding or Metrolink journey will appear.
Ticket collection The FAQ recommends holding the card to a smart reader for at least a count of three when an online purchase will not load. Collection status is different from historical journey data.

If the page shows only products or online purchases, that is the limit of what you can verify from that page. A missing trip entry is not proof that a journey did not happen; it may simply be information the account does not provide.

  • Dual Interface: Designed with a built-in USB-C cable and an attached USB-A adapter for more flexible connection across modern and traditional devices. Easy to use with a wide range of laptops, desktops, and workstations without needing an extra converter.
  • Plug and Play and Easy to Carry: No driver installation required for the reader itself. Compatible with Windows 11/10, macOS, Linux, and Android for convenient setup across multiple devices. Compact, lightweight, and easy to carry for home, office, and travel use. Please note that some cards or secure systems may still require their own middleware or application software.

For example, an online transaction may show that you bought a travelcard, while a product view may show that the travelcard is associated with the smart card. Neither entry, by itself, confirms every bus boarding or tram stop visited. Ask support for clarification before using an account screen as evidence of a particular journey.

Troubleshooting common problems

The card is not listed

  • Sign out and sign back in to the account originally used to register or buy the card.
  • Check whether the card was registered after being obtained at an information and ticket office.
  • Make sure the card is not already linked to another Bee Network smart-card account.
  • If association still fails, contact customer services at 03000 035 035.

The account shows a purchase but the card does not carry it

  • Hold the card to a smart reader for at least a count of three.
  • Present only the Bee Card; separate it from other smart cards, a contactless bank card, a phone and building-access cards.
  • Retry the reader step before treating the online purchase as missing.
  • If it still will not load, keep the purchase details and contact customer services.

You expected a cash balance

Check the exact label used by the portal. The published FAQ confirms online viewing of products, not a stored monetary balance. If no amount is shown, the official information does not support calculating one from the product list. Do not use the ticket price, a guessed fare total or an NFC app to manufacture a balance.

You expected a complete list of journeys

Do not substitute purchase transactions for journey history. The official pages reviewed do not confirm a full ride-by-ride record. Ask customer services whether a particular journey or card record can be retrieved, or ask information-office staff to print the product list when that is what you need.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The iPhone page looks different from instructions found elsewhere

There is no documented iPhone-specific workflow in the cited official material. A responsive website may change its layout, and the available pages do not verify a current iOS app, Apple Wallet support or iPhone NFC balance reading. Follow the controls visible on the official portal rather than relying on screenshots from an older version.

A reader detects the wrong card

Take the Bee Card out of a wallet containing other contactless items. Keep it away from a phone, contactless bank card and building-entry card, then hold only the Bee Card to the reader for at least a count of three. Interference is a physical presentation problem, not proof that the online order has disappeared.

When to contact Bee Network support

Contact customer services if you cannot associate the card, the card appears attached to another account, an online purchase will not load after the reader procedure, or you need a precise answer about data that the account does not display. The current FAQ lists 03000 035 035. Have the relevant account and card details available, but do not disclose your password.

If you are already at an information and ticket office, staff can print a list of the products on the smart card. That printed list answers a different question from whether the account contains a full journey log or a cash balance. It is especially useful when you need to verify the products physically present on the card rather than review online purchase activity.

Quick iPhone checklist

  1. Open the official Bee Network/TfGM smart-card account portal in Safari.
  2. Sign in to the account associated with the Bee Card.
  3. Open the card, products or transaction area that the portal provides.
  4. Read the labels literally: products and online transactions are not automatically cash balance or journey history.
  5. Check the card identity, product name, status and any dates shown.
  6. If a card is missing, verify registration and the one-account linking rule.
  7. For a ticket that has not loaded, hold the card alone to a smart reader for at least a count of three.
  8. Call 03000 035 035 if association, loading or data-access problems remain.

Frequently asked questions

Does the account show every bus and tram journey?

TfGM confirms transaction data for online purchases, and the FAQ confirms that products can be viewed online. Neither statement promises a complete ride-by-ride history, so do not assume every boarding or Metrolink journey will appear.

Why is my card missing from the account?

It may be unregistered, associated with a different account, or viewed from the wrong login. A card can be linked to only one Bee Network smart-card online account. Contact customer services if you cannot resolve the association.

How do I put an online travelcard onto the physical card?

When an online purchase will not load, TfGM’s FAQ says to hold the card to a smart reader for at least a count of three. Keep other smart cards, phones, contactless bank cards and building-entry cards away from the reader.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can staff tell me what is on the card?

Yes. The Bee Network FAQ says information and ticket office staff can print a list of the products on a smart card. That list is not automatically a cash balance or a complete journey history.

The practical answer

On an iPhone, the dependable method is the official Bee Network online account, not an unofficial balance app or an assumed NFC feature. A registered or associated card can provide the transaction data and product information that TfGM describes. The available official wording does not establish a monetary balance, a complete journey history or a dedicated iPhone app, so report only what the live account actually labels and use customer services when you need information beyond that scope.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I check my Bee Card balance directly in Apple Wallet?

The official information does not confirm Apple Wallet support or iPhone NFC balance reading. Use the official Bee Network account in Safari and rely on the labels shown there.

Does the account show every bus and tram journey?

No complete ride-by-ride history is promised. TfGM confirms online-purchase transaction data and the FAQ confirms that card products can be viewed online, but neither statement guarantees every journey will appear.

Why is my Bee Card missing from the account?

Check that it was registered, that you are using the original account, and that it is not linked elsewhere. One card can be linked to only one Bee Network smart-card account. Call 03000 035 035 if the association still fails.

How do I load an online ticket onto the card?

Hold the Bee Card to a smart reader continuously for at least a count of three. Keep phones, contactless bank cards, other smart cards and building-entry cards away from the reader.

Can an information office confirm what is on my card?

Yes. Bee Network says information and ticket office staff can print a list of the products on a smart card. That list is distinct from a cash balance or complete journey history.

The Bottom Line

Use the official Bee Network/TfGM account in Safari to view the products and online transaction data associated with a registered Bee Card. Do not assume that view is a cash balance or complete journey history. If a purchase has not reached the physical card, hold it alone to a smart reader for at least a count of three; contact Bee Network support on 03000 035 035 when registration, linking or loading problems continue.
