How to Check Your Aadhaar Authentication History Online

By Freedom251 Team · · 9 min read

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

You can check your Aadhaar authentication history through UIDAI’s official myAadhaar portal or the official Aadhaar app. Select Aadhaar Authentication History, enter your Aadhaar number or Virtual ID (VID), complete the security check and one-time password (OTP) sent to the mobile number registered with Aadhaar, then choose a date range. UIDAI makes the previous six months available and shows up to 50 records in one view.

The history helps you verify when and how your Aadhaar was used, which Authentication User Agency (AUA) requested it, whether the attempt succeeded, and which error code was returned when it failed. If you find repeated or unfamiliar attempts, lock your Aadhaar biometrics (or Aadhaar), contact the relevant AUA, and report the matter to UIDAI at [email protected] or 1947.

What you need before checking your history

Have these items ready before opening the service:

  • An Aadhaar number or a Virtual ID (VID). The portal accepts either identity input.
  • Access to the mobile phone number registered with your Aadhaar. UIDAI sends the verification OTP to this number; an unregistered or different number cannot complete the check.
  • A current security code (captcha) displayed by the portal.
  • A browser for the myAadhaar website or the official Aadhaar app installed on your phone.

Use only UIDAI’s official service. Type the portal address yourself or use a saved, trusted bookmark, and check that the address is myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in before entering your Aadhaar details or OTP.

Check Aadhaar authentication history on the myAadhaar website

The website route works on a computer or mobile browser. Follow the labels shown by UIDAI rather than third-party pages that offer to “look up” your history.

  1. Open the UIDAI myAadhaar portal.
  2. Choose Aadhaar Authentication History from the available services.
  3. Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number or your VID in the identity field.
  4. Enter the security code displayed on the page. If the characters are difficult to read, use the page’s refresh option to obtain a new code.
  5. Select the option to request an OTP. UIDAI sends a one-time password to the mobile number registered with your Aadhaar.
  6. Enter the OTP in the verification field before it expires and submit it.
  7. Use the calendar controls to select the period you want to inspect, then submit the date range to load the transactions.
  8. Read each row, open any available detail view, and download or print the displayed history if you need a personal reference.

If the OTP does not arrive, first confirm that the phone has signal and that you are checking the mobile number linked to Aadhaar. Requesting a fresh OTP through the portal is safer than entering a code received for a different request. Never disclose an OTP to another person, even if the caller claims to represent UIDAI.

Use the official Aadhaar app

UIDAI also provides the same history service in its official Aadhaar app (UIDAI guidance also refers to the m-Aadhaar app). Open the app and select Aadhaar Authentication History. Enter your Aadhaar number or VID, complete the security code, request the OTP, and enter the OTP delivered to your registered mobile number. After verification, choose the dates in the app’s calendar and review the resulting transactions. The app and website use the same six-month history window and the same 50-row display limit, so changing channels does not reveal older records.

Keep the app updated through your device’s normal app-update mechanism and avoid unofficial applications that ask for your Aadhaar number or OTP. If an app screen uses wording that differs from Aadhaar Authentication History, return to the official service list rather than guessing which option is correct.

How much history is available?

UIDAI makes authentication history for the previous six months available. The service displays a maximum of 50 records at one time. A busy account can therefore contain more transactions than appear on a single result screen even though all of them fall within the available period.

To inspect more than 50 transactions, return to the calendar and divide the six-month period into smaller ranges—for example, one month at a time or a shorter interval around a date you are investigating. Submit each range separately and save the results as you go. A narrower range changes the number of rows returned; it does not extend the service beyond the six-month window.

Planning a review

  • Start with the most recent narrow range if you are investigating a new alert or an unfamiliar message.
  • Record the date and time shown for any transaction you do not recognize before changing the date range.
  • Use consecutive, non-overlapping ranges when you need a complete personal record, so that you do not accidentally count the same transaction twice.

What each authentication-history entry tells you

The result is more than a simple success or failure list. Depending on the transaction, UIDAI can show the following fields:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Field What it means for your review
Authentication modality The method used, such as biometric, OTP, or demographic authentication.
Date and time When UIDAI recorded the authentication request. Compare this with your own activity, appointments, payments, or service visits.
UIDAI response code The response identifier returned by UIDAI for that request.
Authentication User Agency (AUA) name The agency that submitted the authentication request. Use this name when asking an organization to explain an unfamiliar attempt.
AUA transaction ID and code The agency’s transaction reference, useful when the AUA or UIDAI support team traces a specific event.
Authentication response Whether the request was recorded as successful or failed.
UIDAI error code A code explaining a failed request when UIDAI supplies one.

Read the modality, time, AUA and transaction ID together. For example, an OTP authentication at a time you were signing in may be expected, while an unfamiliar agency or a timestamp when you were not using a service deserves follow-up. The history identifies the request details; it does not by itself tell you why an organization requested authentication, so ask the named AUA if the purpose is unclear.

Understanding failed authentication and common error codes

A failed result means UIDAI did not complete that particular authentication. It does not automatically prove that someone misused your Aadhaar. Check the modality, timestamp, AUA and error code, then contact the organization involved if you recognize the service but not the outcome.

UIDAI error code UIDAI’s listed meaning What to do
997 Aadhaar suspended Review the transaction details and contact UIDAI through 1947 or [email protected] for guidance on the suspension and available correction steps.
998 Invalid Aadhaar number Check that the number entered for the service was correct. If the history entry is unfamiliar or the problem persists, ask the AUA and UIDAI to investigate using the transaction reference.
999 Unknown error Note the date, time, AUA and transaction ID, then ask the AUA what was attempted and contact UIDAI if the explanation is insufficient.

Other failed entries may show a UIDAI error code that is not in this short list. Copy the exact code and the full transaction details rather than guessing at its meaning. An AUA can check its own request logs, while UIDAI can advise on the response code and your Aadhaar account.

When a legitimate attempt fails

  1. Identify whether the row says biometric, OTP or demographic authentication.
  2. Compare the time and AUA name with the service you were trying to use.
  3. Give the AUA its transaction ID and the displayed error code so it can retry or correct its request.
  4. If the AUA cannot resolve the issue, contact UIDAI at 1947 or [email protected] with the same details.

What to do about an unfamiliar or suspicious authentication

Treat an unfamiliar row as a signal to investigate promptly, especially when several attempts appear close together or the AUA name does not match anything you recently used.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Preserve the details. Write down or download the date, time, authentication modality, AUA name, AUA transaction ID and code, response, and UIDAI error code. Keep the copy private because it contains sensitive account information.
  2. Check the context. Review recent banking, telecom, government, employment, travel or other service interactions that could have used Aadhaar. Contact the named AUA using a contact channel you already trust, not a number supplied by an unexpected caller.
  3. Lock your Aadhaar biometrics or Aadhaar. UIDAI provides locking controls through its website and app. Use the control that matches the protection you need, and follow the on-screen confirmation instructions.
  4. Report the concern. Send the transaction details to [email protected] or call UIDAI helpline 1947. Also tell the relevant AUA that you do not recognize the request so it can check its records.
  5. Continue monitoring. After taking action, check new history entries periodically within the available six-month window and keep records of case numbers or replies from the AUA and UIDAI.

Locking is a protective response to suspicious activity; it does not identify who made a request or erase the transaction from your history. Keep the original details available for the AUA or UIDAI support team.

Downloading, printing and storing the results

UIDAI allows you to download or print the history displayed after you select a date range. Use this for personal reference, an AUA support request, or a report to UIDAI. Because only the rows in the current result set are displayed, select the appropriate narrow range first when you are working through more than 50 records.

Good record-keeping practice

  • Use a descriptive file name that includes the date range, such as aadhaar-auth-history-2026-04-01-to-2026-04-30.
  • Store the file in a protected location and avoid sending it through public chats or posting screenshots online.
  • When contacting an AUA, share only the transaction details it needs to locate the request.
  • Retain the original downloaded or printed copy if you are reporting an unfamiliar attempt, so later notes do not overwrite the displayed values.

Privacy and account-safety precautions

Your Aadhaar number, VID, OTP and authentication history are sensitive. Enter them only on the official UIDAI portal or official Aadhaar app. UIDAI’s service requires the OTP sent to your registered mobile, so keep that phone under your control while you check the history.

  • Do not tell anyone an OTP, even if the person knows your name, Aadhaar number or an AUA transaction reference.
  • Do not use a public or shared computer for a session unless you can fully sign out and clear the downloaded file afterward.
  • Close the browser tab or app screen when finished, particularly on a device used by other people.
  • Do not send a complete screenshot of your history when an AUA or support agent needs only one transaction; redact unrelated rows where practical.
  • Use the official lock controls promptly when the history shows repeated or suspicious attempts.

Quick checklist

  • Open the official myAadhaar portal or Aadhaar app.
  • Select Aadhaar Authentication History.
  • Enter your Aadhaar number or VID and the security code.
  • Complete the OTP sent to the mobile number registered with Aadhaar.
  • Select the date range and review the modality, timestamp, AUA, transaction ID, response and error code.
  • Use narrower ranges when more than 50 rows fall inside the period.
  • Download or print the displayed rows for personal reference if needed.
  • For repeated or unknown attempts, lock biometrics or Aadhaar, contact the AUA, and report to [email protected] or 1947.
