To check whether YouTube saved a children’s livestream, sign in to the channel’s YouTube Studio and open Content > Live. Find the broadcast by title and date. If it appears in the list, open its details and check Visibility: the replay may exist but be private or unlisted rather than publicly visible. If it is absent, a stream lasting longer than 12 hours may not have been captured; YouTube does not guarantee a complete replay of an uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast.
Check the Live tab in YouTube Studio
- Sign in to the YouTube Studio account for the channel that broadcast the stream.
- Select Content in the left menu, then open the Live tab. YouTube’s Live listing includes previous, current and upcoming streams. YouTube Help: Archive live streams and YouTube Help: Manage your live stream settings.
- Look for the broadcast using its title and date. If you have several similar broadcasts, compare the details rather than relying on the title alone.
- If it is listed, open the stream details and review Visibility. A saved archive can be private or unlisted, so not seeing it on the channel’s public page does not establish that YouTube failed to save it.
- If you change the archive’s privacy setting, save the change. YouTube also allows archives to be made private or deleted from the content page.
If the livestream is not listed
Check how long the broadcast ran. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. A continuous 24/7 broadcast is well beyond that threshold, so do not assume it will produce one complete replay. YouTube Help: Archive live streams.

If the expected stream is missing, the Studio listing is the account-specific check available to the channel owner. YouTube’s published guidance does not establish whether a particular missing archive can be recovered or whether a processing delay applies to that broadcast. Keep a separate local recording for future streams that need to be preserved. YouTube’s guidance says: “We recommend recording a local archive as a backup.”

Creators must designate whether videos and livestreams are made for kids. You can review or edit the audience setting for an archived livestream in Content > Live. YouTube cautions creators not to rely solely on automated audience detection. YouTube Help: Set your channel or video’s audience.

DVR and the archive are different
DVR lets viewers pause or rewind while a stream is live. YouTube notes that rewind capabilities may be limited or unavailable on very long streams. Disabling DVR does not, by itself, determine whether an archive was captured: YouTube says viewers can still see a recording of the entire stream once available when DVR is disabled, but its separate 12-hour caveat still applies. YouTube Help: Enable DVR on live streams and YouTube Help: Archive live streams.
Keep a separate copy of future 24/7 broadcasts
If preserving the entire program matters, plan for a local recording rather than depending on YouTube’s archive for a stream that runs beyond 12 hours. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive as backup. Its guidance does not specify a particular device, software, drive capacity or recording configuration, so choose a setup that can retain the recording for the full intended duration.
