For Resident Evil Requiem, check your console or PC first, then compare its supported video and audio output with your TV, receiver, or soundbar. Capcom lists different resolutions and audio options by platform; a 4K HDR television or Dolby Atmos system is not a requirement to play. They matter only if you want to use those features.
1. Identify your platform and the features you want
Capcom announced Resident Evil Requiem for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, with a scheduled release date of February 27, 2026 (Capcom Investor Relations, September 16, 2025). The relevant check is not simply whether a TV is “ready”: it is whether your platform and the rest of your equipment support the resolution, HDR, and audio format you want to use.

Here are the platform-specific video capabilities Capcom lists in its cross-platform FAQ, updated July 22, 2026, and its PS5 FAQ:

| Xbox Series X | 2160p (4K) | Supported |
| Xbox Series S | 1440p | Supported |
| Nintendo Switch 2, TV mode | 1080p | Supported |
These are listed platform output capabilities, not a claim that every game session will use the highest resolution or that every TV must support it. The cited specifications do not establish how a particular television will display the game. If your TV lacks 4K or HDR, that alone does not establish that you cannot play; check the platform’s available output settings and your TV’s supported signals.
#1 Best Overall
- Amazon Exclusive - 2 sided poster included in every game!
- Grace Ashcroft, an FBI intelligence analyst who is introverted and easily scared, representing a new type of character for the Resident Evil series. Grace will experience horror from the same perspective as the player as she learns to overcome her fears throughout the course of the story.
- For the first time ever in Resident Evil history, players will be able to freely switch between both first- and third-person perspectives throughout the game.
- An Anniversary to Remember: With March 2026 marking the Resident Evil series’ 30-year anniversary, Resident Evil Requiem marks its own milestone in the franchise.
- Pre-orders for Resident Evil Requiem are now open, with the bonus of Grace’s costume: Apocalypse. Please note that the picture weapon does not come with the costume, but it can be obtained in-game.
2. Check your TV’s resolution and HDR support
Read the TV’s specifications for the exact input
Look up the TV’s manual or specifications for supported resolutions and HDR formats, and check the HDMI input you plan to use. A TV may have different capabilities by input or mode, so verify the port and settings rather than relying only on a model’s headline description. Then compare those details with the output options for your platform above.
Separate “can play” from “can use this feature”
If you want 4K output, the TV and the connection path must accept the relevant 4K signal. If you want HDR, the TV and the signal path must support HDR as well. Without one of those features, you may still be able to use a different supported output, but the cited specifications do not guarantee a specific picture, frame rate, or fallback behavior for your equipment. A 4K HDR TV is worth considering only if those are features you want and your current setup cannot provide them.

3. Match the game’s audio options to your system
Capcom lists these audio options by platform in its cross-platform FAQ and PS5 FAQ:
| Platform | Audio capabilities listed |
|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 | Linear PCM 7.1-channel, 5.1-channel, and 2-channel; Dolby Digital 5.1-channel; DTS 5.1-channel; Dolby Atmos; 3D audio support |
| Xbox Series X|S | Windows Sonic, Dolby Atmos, and DTS:X |
| PC (Steam/Epic Games) | Windows Sonic, Dolby Atmos, and DTS:X |
Capcom’s format list describes supported options; it does not mean every TV or sound system can decode or reproduce them. Microsoft’s Xbox US store listing also labels the Xbox version as supporting spatial sound, Dolby Atmos, and DTS:X. These are platform-store capability labels, not guarantees about the compatibility of your particular speakers or signal path.
Rank #3
- Intense horror experience with dark narrative
- Improved images and refined game mechanics included
- Players take on the role of Leon S Kennedy
- Mission to save the president's daughter from danger
- Challenging environments and strategic combat scenarios await
4. Trace the audio path through every device
Write down how sound travels from the console or PC to your speakers. For example, it may go from the console to the TV and then to a soundbar or receiver, or it may go directly to a receiver first. Check the manual for each device and the connection between them against the format you want.
- Confirm that the console or PC offers the desired output and that the format is enabled in its audio settings.
- Check whether the TV accepts and passes that format through the input and output you use.
- Confirm that the receiver or soundbar supports the format and speaker configuration you intend to use.
- Review the device manuals for relevant connection requirements; support for a format on one device does not establish support across the entire chain.
Then open the console or PC audio settings and select an option the complete chain supports. The cited platform specifications cannot verify compatibility for a particular combination of TV, cables, receiver, and soundbar, so the manuals and settings for your actual devices are decisive.
5. Upgrade only if you have a specific mismatch
If you want to use 4K and HDR but your current TV cannot accept those signals, a 4K HDR TV could address that gap. If you want Dolby Atmos and your current sound system cannot handle or reproduce it, an Atmos-capable soundbar or AV receiver may be relevant. Neither purchase is necessary simply to play the game, and the cited information does not support ranking brands or individual models.
