You cannot verify a PC for the next Destiny game yet. Bungie has not named a specific successor in the official material reviewed, and it has not published that game’s Windows, CPU, GPU, memory, storage, or platform requirements. Any yes/no answer based on Destiny 2’s current specifications would be speculation.
You can still prepare accurately: record your computer’s exact hardware and software now, then compare those details with Bungie’s official minimum and recommended table when it appears. Until that table exists, the correct result is not yet verifiable.

Why a definitive compatibility answer is not available
Bungie’s May 21, 2026 announcement says that the June 9, 2026 release would be Destiny 2’s final planned live-service content update and that the studio would begin incubating its next games. It does not name a next Destiny game, give a release date, or publish PC specifications. A later support guide says that no further Destiny 2 content updates are planned, although health and stability hotfixes may still be released.

Destiny 2’s published PC table is explicitly for Destiny 2. Its figures are useful for checking Destiny 2 itself and for showing the information Bungie normally publishes, but they are not a forecast for a later title. The same caution applies to the game’s current storage figures, Steam Deck policy, and known laptop issues.
What to record from your PC now
Make a written inventory before the future requirements page appears. Exact model names are more useful than labels such as “gaming PC” or “Core i5,” because different generations and laptop power limits can perform very differently.
Processor, memory and Windows
- Open Settings → System → About.
- Copy the complete processor name shown under the device specifications. Include the model number and any generation or suffix displayed.
- Record Installed RAM. Note the amount in gigabytes rather than rounding it to a marketing category.
- Record the Windows edition and version. The future requirements may distinguish an edition or version even if the computer is otherwise powerful enough.
Graphics adapter and video memory
- Open Task Manager and select the Performance tab.
- Open each GPU entry and copy the full adapter name. If more than one adapter is listed, record all of them.
- Record dedicated video memory when Windows displays it. Also note whether the active adapter is integrated graphics built into the processor or a discrete graphics processor.
On a laptop, the model name alone is not the whole story. The manufacturer’s power and cooling configuration can affect performance, and a laptop may switch between integrated and discrete graphics. Keep that information with your inventory so you can select the correct adapter when Bungie publishes its requirements.
Storage and installation headroom
Check the free space on the drive where you would install the game. Record both the drive’s available capacity and its type if you know it. Requirements pages may list a full installed size, a temporary or preload requirement, or both. These are different numbers: an update download is not the same as the space occupied after installation, and preload extraction can require additional free space.
How to perform the comparison when Bungie publishes requirements
Use the official requirements page for the exact game and the date or update associated with it. Do not substitute a retailer’s summary or a Destiny 2 table for the future game’s own specification.

- Confirm the identity of the release. Write down the exact title, platform and publication or update date. A requirement can change between an early announcement and a launch build.
- Capture every row. Record the minimum and recommended operating system, CPU, GPU, RAM, internet condition and storage figures. Note whether the table refers to a particular storefront.
- Compare exact models. Match your complete CPU and GPU model against the listed models. A broad family name is not enough when the table gives a specific generation, memory capacity or architecture.
- Check the operating system. Your Windows edition and version must meet the stated requirement. A computer that has the right hardware but an unsupported Windows version does not meet the listed minimum.
- Check memory and graphics memory separately. System RAM and dedicated video memory are different resources. Do not treat one as a substitute for the other.
- Check installation space twice. Compare free space with the stated installed size and then with any preload or installation headroom. Leave room for the game to unpack and update.
- Check platform restrictions. A Windows requirement does not automatically mean that SteamOS, Proton, a console-style handheld, or another storefront is supported.
- Classify the result. If every component reaches the minimum tier, the PC passes the published entry threshold. If any required component is below minimum, it does not meet the official minimum. If all components reach recommended, it is closer to the experience Bungie describes, but the table still may not promise a particular frame rate or resolution.

Write “not stated” for a field Bungie does not publish rather than filling it with an assumption. If the requirements page lists only a desktop graphics card and your machine is a laptop, look for separate laptop guidance before treating the match as certain.
Destiny 2 requirements are context, not next-game requirements
The following table is Bungie’s current listed baseline for Destiny 2 on PC. It is not a specification or prediction for an unnamed future Destiny title.

Bungie says support for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 ended on June 4, 2024, and the Epic Games Store version supports Windows 10 64-bit only. Bungie also cautions that laptop configurations are not officially supported, although a laptop meeting or exceeding the minimum may be able to play. Those statements describe Destiny 2 and should not be carried over to a future game without a new policy.
Storage: distinguish installed size from preload space
After Destiny 2 Update 9.7.0 on June 9, 2026, Bungie’s platform table listed these estimates for Destiny 2 on PC:

Bungie says these figures are estimates and may vary with language selections; some platforms need extra space during installation. The Update 9.7.0 download itself was listed as 28.40 GB on Steam, 27.18 GB on Epic Games Store and 35.80 GB on Microsoft Store. Those download figures are packages for that update, not the full installed game and not requirements for a future Destiny release.

When the next game’s page appears, look for wording such as “required storage,” “installation,” “preload,” or “additional space.” Keep the largest applicable number free until installation finishes, then retain enough room for subsequent updates.

Laptops and integrated graphics need extra checking
For Destiny 2, Bungie does not officially support laptop configurations, even though laptops at or above the listed minimum may be able to run it. A future title could adopt a different policy, so treat the new game’s own laptop statement as authoritative.
Integrated graphics share system resources and can fall below a game’s minimum even when the CPU and RAM appear adequate. Bungie reports performance problems when integrated graphics do not meet Destiny 2’s minimum specification. Its known-issues guidance, last updated July 7, 2026, specifically says that laptops using 12th-generation Intel Iris integrated graphics may crash in demanding environments. Where a discrete GPU is available, Bungie suggests using Windows Graphics Settings to assign Destiny 2 to that discrete processor.
That workaround is a current Destiny 2 troubleshooting measure, not a guarantee for a future game. For the eventual release, confirm which adapter the game is using, install the current operating-system and graphics drivers, and follow the new game’s support instructions.
Steam Deck, SteamOS and Proton
Bungie’s current Steam guide says Destiny 2 is unsupported on Steam Deck SteamOS and on systems using Steam Play’s Proton unless Windows is installed and running. It warns that attempting to bypass the incompatibility may result in a ban. This is a Destiny 2 policy; it does not establish what a future title will support.

If you plan to use a handheld or Linux-based setup, wait for a platform statement for the exact game. Do not infer support from a launcher icon, a community workaround or the fact that another Windows game runs on the same device.

A minimum specification is an entry compatibility threshold. It does not promise a frame rate, resolution, graphics preset, loading time or smooth performance in every activity. The current Bungie table does not attach a guaranteed FPS or resolution target to either tier.
The recommended tier is a more useful target when you want the experience Bungie intends for typical play, but it still is not a performance guarantee. Results can vary with resolution, graphics settings, background programs, thermal limits, driver versions and the particular area of the game.
If one component falls short, identify that component rather than replacing the entire computer immediately. A shortage of storage is a different problem from a below-minimum GPU, and neither can be diagnosed from a generic “gaming PC” label.

Every component meets minimum
Your PC meets the published entry requirements on paper. Install only after checking the storefront’s platform policy, the current driver guidance and the available installation space. Expect to tune settings if your desired resolution or frame rate is higher than the game’s minimum target.
Hardware meets minimum but the laptop uses integrated graphics
Look for a specific laptop statement and confirm which adapter the game selects. If a discrete GPU exists, use the operating system’s graphics assignment setting as directed by the game’s support page. Do not assume that the integrated adapter’s family name is equivalent to a desktop card in the requirements table.
One or more components are below minimum
Record the exact shortfall and wait for any official launch guidance before buying parts. The evidence available now cannot identify a sensible upgrade, because there is no next-game requirement to compare against and no reader-specific budget, resolution or desktop-versus-laptop preference.
The page still has no requirements
Keep the result as not yet verifiable. Do not convert Destiny 2’s older table, a retailer estimate or a rumor into an answer. Recheck Bungie’s official announcement and support pages when the game’s title and platform details are published.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Using Destiny 2 as a forecast. Its listed CPUs and GPUs are for that game and include older hardware; they do not reveal the target for a later release.
- Checking only the CPU. Graphics hardware, video memory, RAM, operating system, storage and platform support can each determine compatibility.
- Comparing families instead of models. “GTX,” “Radeon,” “Core i5” and similar labels cover many generations and performance levels.
- Confusing a download with installation space. A patch package can be much smaller than the temporary space required to install it.
- Treating minimum as a performance promise. Minimum specifications do not state a guaranteed FPS or resolution.
- Assuming a laptop behaves like a desktop. Power limits, cooling and integrated-versus-discrete graphics can change the result.
- Assuming Steam Deck compatibility. Destiny 2’s current SteamOS/Proton restriction must be checked separately from Windows requirements.
- Buying parts before the requirement exists. No responsible upgrade recommendation can be made for an unnamed game without an official table and your exact hardware.
What is known right now
Bungie has announced a transition from Destiny 2’s planned live-service roadmap toward incubating future games, but the reviewed official material does not identify a next Destiny title or publish its PC requirements. The practical answer for every unannounced configuration is therefore the same: record your system now, monitor the official requirements page, and make the compatibility decision only from that title’s own minimum and recommended specifications.
